Well it'll be a long wait to find out - another seven months! :D. I have been thinking that, though. No sore boobs, my skin's reasonably OK, no barfing, so nothing like my first pregnancy so far! Although a friend did tell me the other day she has a sister and her mum had totally different pregnancies with the two of them. We should start a book ;).

Does anyone know where you stand with insurance when driving after a C-section here? I always thought in the UK you couldn't drive for six weeks and that was partly because you'd invalidate your insurance if you did - as medical advice is to refrain from driving for six weeks - but my sister's doctor told her she was fine to drive after three weeks as long as she felt able, and he said as he'd approved it her insurance would be fine.

have watched 'One Born Every Minute' but still quite nervous. That's enough to put you off childbirth for life! 'If I can get home by 8 I can go pick up my methadone'... I think they must have picked some of the roughest people out there for that programme! Good luck, my sister had a C-section for her third last October and said the whole experience was much preferable to her first two natural births. She was back to normal after two weeks.

What an awful thing to have to go through when you're already stressed to the max and probably shattered to boot :(. I hope that nasty cow got home and her dinner was cold or in the dog. But just to put your mind at ease a little (if possible!), my son was born at 37 weeks and my doctor said this is considered full-term, so please don't worry that you're going into labour 'prematurely'. You've done a great job baking baby this long and if he or she decides now's the time, then time's up! Hopefully your complaint will land on the right desk and something will be done about that awful doctor. In the meantime, put your feet up and relax. You'll need all your energy soon ;) xx

Chucking up made no difference whatsoever to me first time round. I had 24/7 nausea and started barfing early evening, and I never felt any better. This time I've got the nausea but no upchucking. I hate feeling like I'm permanently hung over when I never even got a decent night out to warrant it! Sadly for my pre-baby figure, the only thing that helps me is eating. Last time it was fries, cheese sticks, fries, more fries and the odd chicken nugget or burger. This time so far it's fruit - fingers crossed this lasts! Hope you feel better soon. But in the meantime, just use it as a great excuse to put your feet up and do s0d all.

So exciting! I'd recommend the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler and in conjunction, the website www.fertilityfriend.com. I learned so much I never knew about my body and my cycle and I honestly believe these two together were what finally tipped the scales for us after almost four years of no contraception. We weren't die-hard 'trying' until the last year, but still... that's a long time for no accidents. Take the time to learn about your cycle and then you'll be able to maximise your chances of conception simply by making sure you're at it on the right days! You might find you have a cycle that's a little out of the ordinary - still medically 'normal' but not necessarily textbook - and knowing exactly what goes on when saves so much heartache and wasted effort. And the big bonus of knowing your cycle is knowing exactly when you should do a pregnancy test. There's nothing worse than thinking you must be pregnant because your period is six days late when in fact your period isn't six days late, you ovulated six days late. Good luck! And if you need an ear to bend just leave me a note on here. I could ramble on about Fertility Awareness all day :D.

I changed jobs a few years ago and had an outstanding car loan that I was more than capable of carrying on payments for. My bank froze my account as soon as they received my EOSB and used the amount to repay my car loan, leaving the outstanding - around 14k - as a minus on my account. When I went to see them they said I could carry on paying the 14k in normal loan instalments, but they wouldn't give back my EOSB. So I ended up paying the remaining 14k and selling the car.

I'm negative and DH is positive so I had the shot at 28 weeks and 34 weeks. I have no clue if I had a shot after DS was born! I'll have the same again with this pregnancy even though DS turned out to be negative too.

DH had his phone stolen from my car a few years ago and the police managed to retrieve it by tracking its serial number. I'm not sure if they'd do that if you lost it, though! Might be worth asking nicely?

It is indeed time for me to start having earlier nights! :D. I've had Mum here for the past couple of weeks and we were sitting up chatting till all hours but this week I am going to be in bed by 10.30pm at the latest every night. We've been having to stay up till 11ish for his dream feed but he hasn't wanted it the last few nights, so I'm not doing it now unless he wakes and wants it. But.... the last couple of days he's made it to 6.30am or even 6.45. That'll do me!

Yep, that's what the manager in the Gold and Diamond Park store said yesterday. Just an aside - if you know the owner, can you pass on that one of the staff in that branch is miserable and rude?! I explained that I needed a replacement buggy ASAP and that if I couldn't get an iCandy in time I'd need to buy another brand, and she told me to leave my details so they could let me know when they arrived. I explained I knew that the stock had been shipped from the UK and that all I wanted to know was when it would be here, and again she just told me to leave my details (after sighing and rolling her eyes). I asked to be able to contact the management to see if they could help and she stomped off to the desk. Then she shouted across the store to tell me the lady at the desk was the manager. She then gave me the info straight away.

Thanks for all the input (and thanks AP!). DH helpfully forgot to give our new credit card details to Du so our account was suspended and we now have 'technical issues' so I'm borrowing AP's internet :D. I'm not bored, no. Just don't really fancy having to send condolences when my uncle has to go identify a body or pick up the pieces after an attack because my cousin has made such poor choices she's put herself in a situation she can't get out of. I considered sending her a message directly but then if I do that and Mum ends up talking to my uncle anyway, she'll know we told him and I don't want to upset her (much as I do want her to stay safe). She - like many girls her age in the UK, it seems - appears to be obsessed with the whole reality TV scene and of course as that's how the girls behave on TV, she thinks that's what she needs to do to be famous :(. Even if it's only friends of friends who can see the images, like CdnExpat70 says, anyone who can see them can download them. Her mum is also her friend of FB but I can only guess she either doesn't go on there or my cousin has set the security levels so that her mum can't see the pictures. Hmmm, it's difficult.

I feel like roadkill. 6.20am. I gave him a bottle to see if he'd settle back down, and the next thing I saw was his head bobbing up and down over the foot of our bed as he was bouncing around in his cot. Tomorrow night he's back in his own room, which is darker. Let's see if that makes a difference before I arrange to have him Fedexed to his in-laws in Scotland.

He's in with us while Mum stays so even though we have blackouts I've thrown blankets over all the bits where sun might get through and stuffed a single mattress alongside his cot so ain't no sun getting in tomorrow morning! Fingers crossed.... my eyes are hanging out on stalks.

My MIL barely put her hand in her pocket once last time she was here. She half-heartedly offered to give me 'her share' for dinner one night but given that she'd just refused to leave 60dhs tip for a 550dhs bill I paid and left 20dhs on the table, I refused. I told her she could spend it on drinks for herself and DH at the Rod Stewart concert the next night. On the night of the concert DH paid for the first round then she said she didn't want another one so he went back to the bar. He got her another one anyway and she complained it was the wrong drink. Then she said she was off to the loo and DH found her half an hour later in the VIP bar drinking the double she'd just bought herself. Then on her last night she insisted we went out for dinner. Bill came, 200dhs for three of us (no booze). She gets her purse out, I almost faint. She says, "I'm not letting you pay for this, you're not paying for me, I want to pay my share". And hands over 50dhs. I'm cr4p at maths but even I know that doesn't add up. And I didn't get so much as a thank-you for my hospitality.

Isn't he too small for that? He's only just stopped having his third nap in the afternoon! I really have no clue how much he needs, though. It's so frustrating seeing him rubbing his eyes and tired all the time - I feel like it's all my fault for not getting it right for him.

Add Mum thinking I'm the worst mother in the world for letting him cry, waling around sighing, and I'm about ready to leave too. Ask her what she'd do and try that (or get her to try it!)... can do no harm and at least would stop the tuts and sighs. Never judge a man until you've walked a mile in his shoes and all that! I really, really think it's just their natural body clocks adjusting to the brighter, hotter weather. Both my two are up by 6h30-7h these days, instead of 7h-7h30. They haven't both got beyond 8h in, er... never, actually. All of her suggestions involve either doing something to help him sleep (counter-productive, because then he relies on that and that's what got us into such a pickle in the first place) or letting him get up (counter-productive, because then he's still far too dog-tired to do anything but whinge). Grrr. My brother never slept as a baby (probably because of the above) so she thinks I should just suck it up. I wonder if she'd still be saying that if she had to move over here to take care of DS because I'd been carted off by the men in white coats.

That sounds like a good option. My sister had a P&T and got it out the other day to eBay it, and it looked pretty sturdy and well-preserved! Apparently iCandy are 'in the process of' arranging a distributor here. They're not sure if they'll have stock quick enough for me, so they're going to get back to me this afternoon:\:.

The big Choithrams on Al Wasl Road by Safa Park usually has the UK tubs of Aptamil. Geant, Carrefour and Spinneys all have the tins, but the cardboard carton is the one you'll need if it has to be the same as the UK stuff. Re Pampers, I definitely find the ones here not as good as the UK ones. And you'll need to check to see how heavy the kids are as the sizes are by weight - my DS is nearly 11 months and in size 4+ or 5. Have fun - it's a lot of effort but worth it when they're here. Although I must agree with everyone else... she sounds like a right pain in the butt! :D

We've been trying to get him to bed a bit later and he managed to sleep till just before 6am today, but I'm bushed :(. How much should he be sleeping in total at almost 11 months? I feel like I'm losing control of it again, just when I thought we were sorted! I've tried dragging out the dream feed but he's a guzzler! And he doesn't normally need his nappy changed so I can't use that to make it take longer :(. Perhaps it's his way of ensuring there won't be any other babies after this one. Bags under the eyes and permanently grumpy is not likely to be attractive to daddy! :D <em>edited by DubaiCat on 19/04/2011</em>

I often get told I don't look British :D. I once had to go over my family tree for a guy on a flight to BHX because he simply couldn't believe I didn't have something 'foreign' - his word - in my history. I probably do somewhere but I haven't been able to trace it yet! ETA: I don't think he quite got the whole multicultural thing, and was quite convinced you could only be British if you were white as a sheet. Ah OK, thanks. I think the one by UWE is Frenchay? I'll have to see when I get home. We do have a midwife-led maternity unity at Weston general - which is my nearest hospital - but I'm not sure if they'll do everything I need as they don't have consultants and if I remember rightly my sister had to go to Bristol for a few bits. I think it was St Michael's she went to. She had horrendous birth experiences there, though, so I don't want to go anywhere near it!

Asda and Sainsbury's both have really good value packs of vests and sleepsuits. I do like the Next sleepsuits but Asda and Sainsbury's are three for a fiver, whereas Next is three for 17 quid!
