Anyone else starting a fresh cycle at Bourn Hall in 2016? I did one failed cycle overseas and I have decided to do the next cycle here. Really liked Bourn Hall and felt very comfortable with the doctors. Anyone else doing a second round?

Looking for an intern again! It is unpaid, part-time and a great chance to get some on the ground experience. College students, fresh graduates or high school graduates with strong English and who are really keen to get into PR are all welcome.

Hi Princess, I understand how you feel. I am 37 and am going through IVF after a year of failed fertility treatment and it feels very lonely. I went to Bourn Hall and found it too far, too expensive and they don't do embryo freezing. I was put off Fakih by their commercialism and lack of commitment to appointments, although my friend had a good experience there and did get pregnant. My doctor advised me to try IVF outside of Dubai because you can at least freeze embryos. I did this and am devastated that it didn't work. I think the stress of travelling back and forth was a factor. I now have some frozen embryos left in the clinic abroad, but I'm thinking of leaving them until later. Now I'm considering trying Conceive in JLT and doing a fresh cycle. Would love some advice.

Thanks Hopingmother! I'm going to discuss it with my doctor at Bourn Hall today. I'm just wondering whether it's a gimmick or a real treatment option. Did you friend get pregnant with the Mini IVF? Would love to hear a success story.

Natalie I'm in the same position as you , been TTC for a few months. After the first month I started using the simple ovulation kit to show when I was ovulating. Sure enough I got a smiley face every month but didn't get pregnant . After three months of this I went to the doctor who told me I definitely was not ovulating and these tests are not reliable at all!! So the firs thing you should do is head to a doctor and get checked out before you even consider a treatment plan whether it's herbal or ivf. My regular GYN at Health Bay went done the route of natural and supplements etc before moving onto anything else.

Thanks for the reply smart. Good luck with your fertility treatment in India. I'm afraid I don't have the option of going home for treatment right now, I'm pretty much stuck with trying to make it work in Dubai for the next few weeks.

I am considering visiting Fakih clinic but want to know if they only do ivf or if they offer other treatments too ? I did one unsuccessful cycle of Clomid but my doctor just doesn't have time to see me even on those vital days when I need monitoring , I'm reluctant to try a new doctor if it's going to be the same , as I don't want to waste a cycle because my doctor is too busy ! Any feedback much appreciated as I've been trying for 7months and I'm starting to feel hopeless .

Is anyone looking for an internship in PR/ Communications or perhaps knows someone who wants to intern? I desperately need some help in our office and it's a huge multinational so it would be a great name for a fresh grad to have on their cv. It's unpaid and there probably won't be a job at the end of it - just great work experience for a couple of months.

If they buy their airline ticket through Fly Dubai, Emirates or Royal Jordanian the airline can arrange the visa for them. They must tell the airline that they want them to do this. That is the most straightforward way of doing it. Otherwise, you do need to sponsor them.

Detox Delight are pretty cool. I think the options are from 5, 10 or 15 days and they have something called a flexi pack too. You can do juices or soups...I haven't tried the soups but my friends did and say they're lovely. It's good way to do raw food if you don't have time to shop and keep blending stuff! They deliver which makes it a great option!

I don't understand what this means at all. I've only just got my residency through and have been staying at a friend's place. Let's assume I was staying in a hotel or still sleeping on a friend's couch - how could I possibly produce a tenancy contract BEFORE I have my residency ...in order to gain my residency? Sounds like a which came first the chicken or the egg scenario.

It took me two months to find a job. It was a very long and frustrating process. I put my CV on bayt.com and gulftalent.com and also went on specialist websites in my field. I found a really good recruitment agent too Alex Koumi at Kingston Stanely who does't mess me about and is very honest about jobs/packages/qualifications etc. Some companies take forever to get back to you, others say they want you then tell you recruitment has been frozen due to budget cuts. Others put you through several rounds of interviews and take weeks to make a decision. Try the websites mentioned, check daily for new jobs, apply every single time and don't assume an employer will just find you on there. Send out speculative applications to companies, apply to jobs via linkedin and send your cv to every neighbour, friend, acquaintance, former colleague, ex wife's dogwalker's employer.....etc. I ended up with three offers in the end , one via a recruitment agency, one via a job website, and one via a friend of a friend who had heard that a company was hiring and forwarded my CV.......... all three were good firms and fair packages for my skills and experience. Keep trying and good luck!

I'd love to get an Edge! Such a cute rounded shape, it doesn't look all boxy or square like the FJ cruiser and Jeeps. The new model has that cool iFord computer too. So glad to hear the good comments about it! Does anyone know what financing deals they're offering at Ford at the moment? Also, is the service only for a year or longer? Whereabouts is the service centre located? One thing that put me off Toyota is that although their initial services are in Festival CIty , which is fine, their 'big' 40K service is in Rashidiyya and is difficult to find!

That's a pretty good salary for a teacher who is on her husband's visa. I worked for a good school in Dubai last year and was on the full overseas package. Even with the housing and flights my total monthly package was 16000 dhs. I'm now desperately looking for a job, but most schools won't even consider candidates who are not on their husband's or father's visa as they don't want to pay for housing and visas so I'm not having much luck If I was you I'd sign on the dot! Good luck!

Quiet, calm elegant and sophisticated with great views and delicious food was Sloane's at Grosvenor House. I think it was 250dhs. Highly recommended. I'm trying to remember what I paid for The Observatory at The Marriott, I think it was 400 dhs. Incredibly views and bustling without being rowdy atmosphere. I didn't love the food though. edited by DubaiHoneyBee on 12/06/2011 edited by DubaiHoneyBee on 12/06/2011

Ladies I really support adopting an animal from a rescue shelter, but having a pet is a big responsiblity and as someone who's had dogs for years I really think very carefully about the personality, habits and activity level of the dog in the context of my living situation. I don't think it's fair to criticse someone for being sensible. I wouldn't necessarily want a jealous small breed near very young children or babies. At the same time I might not want a digger or hunter in an expensive garden that has lots of maintenance.....or a very intelligent guard type dog in a house with neighbours because he might bark..... Dog lovers understand dogs and different breeds' personalities so we are being sensible and making good choices when we pick a breed. I'm looking for a small terrier mix dog. It doesn't have to be thoroughbred but I definitely want it to be small becuase of my tiny flat and I love terrier mixes. I'm put off approaching shelters and rescue centre because I don't want to be judged for asking them if they have a terrier / poodle type and I don't want to have a big dog forced on me.

I actually found removing bio sculpture much worse for my nails than removing Gelish. It's easier to remove Gelish at home though. If you don't have the special forumla to remove them, then soak your nails in hot (or very warm ) water for 20 mins. Then soak each finger in nail polish remover till it starts to peel off gently. You can also try to buff it off with a nail file. It works a lot better if you are removing them 10+ days after having the Gelish applied. Otherwise it take much longer. I've also found that if you've had Gelish done on 'fresh' nails that have grown off, it comes off faster. But itf you have it done regulary, then you nails are thinner and have been buffed and damaged a lot from repeated removal, so when you have the Gelish put it adheres much more strongly to the now damaged surface of the nail which makes it harder to remove.

Ladies, I'm begging you to PLEASE name and shame the bad salons- it's the only way to protect us! I doubt the consumer protection (if it exists) will really do anything. One thing I have learned over the years is that infections are not necessarily picked up from lack of hygiene or incorrect use of the tools : it's what they DO to your feet. According to a really great dermatologist I go to the infections are from harmless bacteria that simply exist in the water, and things like buffing and scraping down the top layer of your nails too much or prolonged soaking in water simply make you more vulnerable to developing infections and fungus. I now no longer have pedicures. I file down or gently cut a little bit of the sides of my toenails if they bother me, but all that excessive cutting of skin at the salons just made the dry bits of skin grow back worse! Simply using a decent foot cream EVERY night means I don't need the scrubbing and nipping of skin and cuticles. The maximum I'll get done is let them do a polish change on my feet. As for hands, I only let them file and polish, no cutting or nipping of cuticiles or anything. I do get Gelish done quite a bit, but again I always wear sunblock on my hands before putting them in the UV dryer . I like Tips N Toes and NBar, but the other N ending in 'le' mentioned here is out for me. I'm not convinced of their standards, and one girl I told NOT to cut my cuticiles started nipping bits of skin and when I tried to stop her kept shouting at me 'I'm not cutting the cuticles! Just the excess skin!'!!!!!!!!! I've also become an expert at doing my own bikini waxing...too many wax burns and no evidence of hygiene......I'm over it!

I just had to post a response to some of the negative postings here!!! I did the test in December. I did VIP so the whole process from registration to actually getting my physical licence took one month. I did the practical test twice and passed the second time. Embarassing because I've been driving for years, but apparently that's just the way it works. The theory test was 10 questions that took less than 10 seconds to answer using a computer! You don't need to get them all correct. I'm assuming the extended theory test is the same just with more questions. Some are common sense and others you reallly have to learn the UAE road signs. The actual theory course was a waste of time, but I was told to study the 'card' (buy it for 5 dhs from the school's accounting office) rather than the book as all the questions come off the card. They were 100% correct: every question was from the card which you can study for 30 mins before the test like I did! Good luck!

I second the recommemndation for hte eye cream. I think it's called rich or extra repair. It's the best thing I've ever used. I've tried loads of high end brands and although I love Bobbie Brown makeup it had never occured to me to try the skincare. I used to get a dry crust under my eyes and even had to scrape the skin off (!!!) cos my spf eye cream caused an allergy and other eye creams would melt into the skin and itch....but the BB eye cream actually cured my allergy probelm!!!

I usually go to Tips N Toes in JBR. They also do Gelish at NBar in JBR (they've just introduced it). There are branches of NStyle in the Marina Mall and JBR but I'm not sure whether or not they've introduced Gelish. NBar in Ibn Batuta do Gelish as do Tips N Toes in The Greens. Good luck!

Loads of people in the Marina have dogs - it depends not just on the building but also on the landlord. I keep hearing that people are moving to the Greens from JBR because the Greens is pet friendly and JBR is now outlawing it...dunno if it's true, but I see dogs all over JBR and the Greens! And BTW it's not cruel to have dogs living in a flat. They're not being 'kept' there, it's the place they reside when they've finished being taken out for walks and playtime outdoors. They're not horses you know! They spend most of their time lounging around and sleeping anyway!

I've been having Gelish done at Tips N Toes for a while and I love it. It lasts at least a week, on average 10 days of looking perfect, and my best so far has been 3 weeks! Gelish costs around 110 dhs depending on whether or not you have french tips painted on. I then deicded to try Bio Sculpture because I'd heard so much about it and I was going on holiday so I thought I'd go for something a little hardier than Gelish. I had it done at NBar and I loved it. It cost 295 dhs for French tips, 245 for regular. The technician was very professional. It did last the last three weeks I was on holiday but like Gelish, you start to see cracks in the colour under the surface (this only happens with French and very light colours) and becuase it starts to grow out you have to have it redone. However, I did paint nailpolish over them several times and it looked great. Then I went to NStyle to have them redone. I got a huge shock when they charged me an additional 60dhs for 'removal' of my old ones. This was completely unnecessary as these are not acrylics. The removal process was exactly the same as Gelish - soaking them in nail polish remover for a few minutes then scraping off with an orange stick- but Tips N Toes have NEVER charged me for this when I'm having a nother set put on!!!!!!! I also noticed that NStyle did not apply all the same layers of gel, finisher and strengethener etc as NBar AND within THREE days one of my biosculpture nails broke off and I had to file it down. This has never happened with Gelish. So my advice is, if you're going for Bio Sculpture, go to NBar at least for the first time, then you can compare when other places 'cheat'. As for me, it's not significantly hardier than Gelish, so I'm sticking to Gelish unless I go on holiday in which case I'll only go to NBar for bio sculpture!
