I think you might need a Schengen Visa - this s what DH has and it covers most countries in Europe. Although when I did a quick google for their website, this thread popped up which seems to have all the information. http://www.expatwoman.com/qatar/forum/messages.aspx?TopicID=141887

We had great service in regards to an offshort mortgage from Lloyds here (just walked in and met with a very helpful woman called Hazel) and Bank of Scotland via email/telephone. BOS were slightly quicker than Lloyds getting things sorted out and I believe they offered us a slightly more attractive rate. Aaahhh... that's right SimoneN, Hazel (not Heather as per my previous post)!

Hi Sugarbeach... yes we went through Lloyds too initially (found a lady's details on here actually - she is based here in Dubai but will guide you through the paperwork for the offshore Lloyds mortgage - Heather I think her name is) and Nat West but the rates were just better through Nat West for us. We called the number on the Nat West website, got put through and the rest was done by email - once we sent the completed application, we were asked a few additional Qs by email and the offer letter was sent through by email a couple of weeks later. Only the final signed docs and proof of ID/address were sent by DHL. Very easy and very professional.

We recently used NatWest Offshore... very very helpful and all done via email with the exception of a short enquiry phone call at the start of the process. It was very simple and had the advantage of UK rates. [url=http://www.natwestinternational.com/nw/offshore-banking/mortgages.ashx'>NatWest Offshore Mortgages[/url'> HTH

Yaaay red wine I can defo do - sounds even yummier too!!! Thanks!!! @ahoradxb - that's so sweet of you thank you - but we're the other end of town, nevertheless thank you. Lol @ muurtje - fortunately neither DH & I are big fans of any whiskey so I could throw in all the single malt in the world and I don't think anyone here would be too bothered :) Wine it is... and if I'm gonna open a bottle, I may as well make good use of the rest of it! I better get it on otherwise there will be no dinner tonight!!!! It's already looking like a 9.40pm dinner - what the heck... It's Thursday!!! Thanks ladies x

I think your friend needs to enquire at the Ministry of Labour to open up a labour file for the company - you may also require signatures from the local sponsor to open the file. Have you enquired at the Ministry of Labour at all? DH has gone through this with a couple of companies so I will ask him where to start and get back to you.

Hi Yorkshire Pud, DH and I are traveling to UK next weekend - if it's any help and your DH can get it to me in Mirdif I'll happily bring it over in my case, then we can arrange to get it to wherever you are in UK... We're flying in to Manchester.

Bumping this up to see if anyone else can help or advise who can certify copies of our documents. I need to appeal for more help... DH and I are in the process of buying a house in the UK, for which we need to provide an attested copy of DHs Passport along with an attested copy of 'proof of current address' We have the Du Telephone bill for proof of address but they need a notarised copy - the notary public says that they do not provide this service... they suggested to go to Du and get them to stamp the copy - I'm not convinced. Has anyone done this via a notary/lawyer/bank official and can you advise who to use and how much it costs. Many many thanks in advance.

Head on Sheikh Zayed Road over Garhoud Bridge as if you're going to Terminal 1, go past Terminal 1 on Airport Road and keep going straight through one (or two - i'm not 100% sure) sets of traffic lights then take the Airport Tunnel on your right. Keep left in the Tunnel and when you come out you will take the exit on the left (signposted T2), go straight on the road when you come out and you will see T2 on your left hand side after a couple of mins. HTH.

hey sandfly, thank you so much for your reply, yes you're right, she requires a certified copy of our utility bill... thank you for clarifying. We live in Mirdif :) but I wouldn't want to put you out at all. We're also travelling from tomorrow morning until the end of the month... if you are able to help, would we be able to call on you upon our return? We are willing to pay the going rate for the service too (along with a box of choccies I might add!!) If not you, I would much appreciate if you could jot down the name of any lawyer this side of town who could help - as you can tell, this is completely new terriroty for both my DH and I. Thank you again.

We wanted to go to both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh but DH has arranged some mega Asia trip that only leaves us with 4 days in Vietnam so we will stay in Hanoi and explore from there... I've heard we should head out to Halong Bay for a trip but it's really totally new territory for both of us! We usually rely on concierge for recommendations when we arrive in new places but will happily have recommendations from an expert :) you can mail me if you like on [email protected] but only if you have time... please don't go to any trouble. DH is on his way home with a shiny new visa stamp in his PP - yayyyyyyy!! :D

I will go through it later today and def post back if there is anything else we need to know. It's been my dream for years to travel to Vietnam and I'm so excited to get there.... thank you thank you thank you!

Thanks SS!! I would really appreciate it if you could find time to post the agent's details tomorrow, it's worth a shot... Hi Mavis, www.vietnam-visa.org are the ones telling us that they can't process for DH, but thanks all the same for taking the time to respond. GRRRR gutted the Dubai Consulate is closed!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (but totally serves me right for not researching thoroughly enough - they don't mention that some nationalities are not eligible though until you really really search :()

We have just gone through a mortgage application through Nat West International but we also looked at others... we needed an offshor mortgage as we are not resident in the UK. Rates are pretty good, just a little higher than UK mainland. Hi Rach, If you're following Cesar's Way then you are way ahead of where I was when I first adopted! We never separated our two and have never crated either. When we went out they used to get shut in the kitchen to contain accidents but together. They're 3 1/2 now and I really do think the balance was down to the male/female combo. Sorry, I know that this is not much help. Re walking, I did start by walking them separately and later when walking them together, one on the left and one on the right, so they were never actually next to each other. We don't have children but I do understand your concern. Perhaps Neil at Homely Petz will be able to give you some better advice, or Verity by email? Saw your other thread - I hope someone can come on with some better advice for you and the pups.

Hi Rach71, can you elaborate on the behavioural issues you are seeing? I have two dogs (male & female) from the same litter which we adopted when they were around 3 months old. I'm not sure if the issue is in them both being from the same litter or that they are both males? Are they playing rough or really having a go at each other? You will really need to step in and be the 'pack leader' right away as they are probably trying to work out between them who's taking that role...

Agree with all posters, the best time to do it is when your dog is calm and relaxed and to start initially by handling the paws and nails regularly. One of my dogs used to run away and hide whenever the clippers came out - it was never an issue initially until after he had had his nails trimmed at the groomers and he bled :( after that he freaked out every time. It's taken some practice but he's ok with having his paws and nails handled now but is still nervous around the clippers... it takes time and patience and a bit of speed. I prefer to do little and often to be sure he doesn't bleed again. ETA... treats are a great distraction from the clippers/paw handling/nail cutting! You can get clippers from pet shops and also in the pet food sections of most supermarkets. Good luck! edited by dunight on 11/02/2011

Hi Aline_JLT, Do you know where HSBC Building is? It's basically on the ground floor at the back of that. If you're coming on SZR from MOE direction, you need to pull in to the service lane on the right after Dusit Hotel and keep going until you reach HSBC building on your right - it can be a bit of a nightmare to find parking in that area during office hours though.
