Knock on the door and speak to the owners and let them know their dogs are disturbing you. Reporting should only come after you have spoken with the owners and the owners have failed to take action. I actually disagree with this. I would rather it be anonymous. Some people (the kind that don't mind if their pets annoy people) would hold it against you and most likely are not going to make changes that will please you. Anonymous letters hardly work as it makes the person on the receiving end defensive, paranoid, angry and the letter is not taken seriously. Apart from the fact that such letters are cowardly, a face to face meet is much better as we don't know what the person is going thru. Maybe the owners are ill, have a huge family problem, suffering, etc, and such letters are not going to help. This is just my opinion.

Any dog that has bitten would have first displayed warning signals and if the human has neglected to see this or has no clue of these signs then that person should not have a dog. There is always a reason why any dog would bite, instead of simply labeling that dog as dangerous / vicious, we should spend time trying to figure out what caused it, if you have no time to figure it out then don't own a dog. If a dog drew blood on it's first bite then that dog is not going to bite again because it's tasted blood, this is just another old wives tale, if it does bite again it's because or various other reasons which do not include the taste of blood or flesh.

The rescue organization lost their shelter in UAE. In the past they have successfully relocated and rehomed many saluki's to Europe and the west. They are now looking for travel buddies to help relocate these dogs. All expenses and paperwork will be arranged by them. Below are the list of destinations these dogs need to travel to with origins being from dubai. * Helsinki (Finland) - Copenhagen - Oslo - Stockholm * Frankfurt (Germany) * Nice (Côte d'Azur) (France) * Zürich (Switzerland) * Milano – Torino – Genova - Bologna – Verona – Venezia – Firenze – Pisa - Rome (Italy) Preferred airline would be KLM or Lufthansa (or any other low-budget airline) Anyone traveling to the above destinations and willing to be a travel buddy can contact the rescue organization on [email protected]

As Lolacat has mentioned already, If your dog's vaccinated then not to worry. No vaccine is a 100%. This is true for both humans and animals. It all depends on the immunity of the animal and human. Just make sure everything is cleaned up after she has pooped and I would avoid letting her sniff another dog's leftovers.

Very very true. Responsible ownership is required and there are far to many who just don't take it seriously. Unfortunately, most of these irresponsible owners feed the puppy farm markets too.

Go back to RERA and lodge a fraud complaint against the agency. That will at least start an investigation against the agency and their lies will be uncovered.

Al Nasserya is the beginning of the traffic congestion which is not horrible but not so wonderful also. It's where the residential and commercial buildings begin, so yes there will be traffic but not as bad as the main roads leading to dubai. Behind Nasserya are the villa areas/suburbs of sharjah. The roads there are free flowing with no traffic. From E311, using these villa area roads, it should take about 20 mins (including slight traffic at Nasserya) to reach. If your driving from RAK or Mistral UAQ, it would take less then 45 mins easily via E311 to reach the exit for sharjah. One mainly gets stuck if they continue on the E311 to dubai. You should ask your company what are your work timings as you may have to work in shifts or begin your day after the peak hours.

Contact the Al Hamra developer directly as they lease various properties which are still under their ownership. You save on commission and their prices are better then the agents.

You could contact the ladies of SOS for EMIRATES DOGS (https://www.facebook.com/pages/SOS-for-EMIRATES-DOGS/701969393152041) who are in dire need. I believe they are hosting a garage sale to collect money for the shelter they are running in UAQ.

Maybe you can just walk into their office, ask to meet the HR manager and tell them about your past work at the company and that you'd like to apply for job here. and then see how it goes. I beg to differ, HR managers are not sitting around and waiting for job seekers to stroll in so they can conduct a random interview. These people and their departments are busy. A lot of time walking into a company and leaving your CV with the HR department has better results than sending in a CV through email. The reason may be that companies get many CVs through email so yours can get lost in the pile. I know of lots of companies who do not accept CV's like this, and will direct you to their careers website. Especially the companies the OP has mentioned. Such companies follow a process and walk in's do not work unless advertised for. To the OP, hope you are networking on Linkedin, there are various groups for different industries within the UAE where lots of recruiters / hiring managers advertise. I know many who have been hired this way.

Call 800900 and ask for the Veterinarian Dept. to lodge an animal cruelty complaint. It's illegal to keep animals in outside enclosures without an Air con and especially if the animal is malnourished. will do...hopefully the poor pets will not be put to sleep... Technically, Dubai has a no kill policy, don't know how far it's true. I would suggest to first contact K9 friends 04 8878739 (http://www.k9friends.com/) and let them know the condition the animals are in and see if they could accompany the DM representative to both the houses. This way if the dogs get taken away then K9 could actually take them on. All the best!

IzzyOnTheSeat, after watering them do they still continue displaying that naughty behavior not necessary immediately but in a few days? Nope - she no longer uses the corriander plant as a bed.....:D Great if it stopped her from using the pot as a bed, I would have placed her bed near the pot, sprayed some catnip and let her sleep/chill next to the pot, this way I know that in my absence she does not use the pot as a bed but chooses her bed to nap on. As Joyce has mentioned, a simple 'Tssss' can set out an alarm bell in a cats head which is based on fear, why use fear when you can make a cat understand certain behavior is not called for with the use of clicker, treats, fun and positivity. Plus every time a squirt gun is never available when required unless you carry one 24x7. Daza, It's worked like a charm for us :) our bougainvillea's have grown over the wall, guess it's just difficult for them to climb over.

Daza, had a similar problem last year even though we have 3 dogs, the neighborhood cats still came into our garden to poop and munch on my vegetable garden, I planted bougainvillea's around the perimeter wall and no more cats inside the garden. Citrus peels never worked so I agree it's a waste.

Gorobattie, I apologize, I read your comment hastily before going to bed and all that stood out was children + water gun + squirting a cat. So my comment was harsh and uncalled for. It's still incorrect to squirt cats, period. You squirt a cat when they are aggressive only after you have ruled out any medical issues or distress they are undergoing and you are protecting yourself or another. This cat however was in distress as she was just protecting her litter. To stop any other unwanted behavior, squirting cats is just a lazy approach which is cruel and only makes a cat frustrated, fearful and most of the time will not stop the cat from continuing that behavior in your absence. So apologies once again and please read about +R methods for cats. You will never need a squirt gun every again.

Yesterday when I was walking my dog, he came to close to a street cat and it tried to scratch my dog. This morning walking the same route the same cat jumped on my dog screaming and properly attacking him. My dog is the sweetest thing and does nothing to defend himself, so I have to pull him away with the leash. Where can I report this cat, as I'm worried about diseases? Have children water gun - the small one - fill it with water, then take your own rout as usual, then once this particular cat try to approach him squeeze the water gun toward the cat, do the same for a week, then this cat will mind it's own business after that, just seeing the water gun - no need to spray anymore - will just remind that cat to stay away from your do. HTH Why would a mother teach their children to harm any other living being. Not just shameful but also cruel. To all the ladies who have posted below against this kind of cruel act, thank you. The world needs more people like you to speak out for these poor, helpless animals.

I have no experience with brain tumour but recently heard that cannabis oil can cure such tumour with no need for surgery or chemo. Also heard about "defeat cancer now" book that shows how cancer can be reversed naturally by following some diets Sorry, but this is all utter, utter nonsense, like every other post that gets shared around Facebook claiming that some completely natural plant-based substance is a miracle cure for cancer that "Big Pharma" doesn't want you to know about. There isn't a shred of real evidence that any of those supposed treatments actually work. All those posts do is create entirely false hope and entirely unjustified suspicion of science-based medicine. It's just possible that some cancers may have regressed [b'>coincidentally[/b'> after the patient started taking whatever miracle cure supposedly worked for them, but coincidence is all that it is. Actually, the non psychoactive derivatives of cannabis are showing promising results against cancer cells Invitro. Lots of credible studies and research on cannaboid receptors CB1 and CB2 have and are still being conducted. However, all experiments are still in Petri dish stage and no credible animal testing has been conducted till now. Last week I read on gulfnews that the UAE scientist are currently conducting experiments with cannabis to treat cancer, they claim to be testing on frogs and the results are promising. So yes, cannaboids can in the near future treat cancer hopefully, but as of now to claim it as a cure is dishonest. Gotta love Google. Not really, I do love online lectures from various professors and scientist so I can learn more then what I know.

Just spoke with my MIL who is a specialist with a Govt Hospital in Ajman. She said, it's best to do the Abu dhabi HAAD exam as it's valid anywhere in the 7 emirates and you can easily transfer to any emirate is you get another offer. Depending on your expertise (Physician or MD) the interview could last between 1/2 hr to an hour. They generally do not go in-depth but it all depends on the interviewer. Hope this helps and all the best.

Not all stray cats are unfriendly. My husbands office area has lots of stray cats (some feral too) and lots of these cats are people friendly and follow people around. They get fed by most of the office staff in this area and quite a quite a few people even play with these cats. We along with others do trap / neuter / release these cats in this area. So if this cat is neutered then probably he has been through the TNR program already so not necessary a past pet. Personally speaking, I think stray cats are very beneficial in keeping the rodents in check.

Hi dubaidream777, if you are relying on agents only to help find a villa then it could be difficult as agents do exaggerate rental prices. Why not drive around areas you are looking at and call all the 'to let" signs you see. Most of these signs are direct LL's who are advertising and you can definitely find villa's for much cheaper then what is advertised everywhere. I live in Barsha 2 and there are so many signs advertised by LL's which have been there for over 3 months now. We found our villa back in dec 2012 this way as were were looking for an independent, extra large garden in a local neighborhood. Drove every day for 2 months, called every sign we saw (even the ones which were out of my budged) but it helped because we ended up speaking to Local LL's who were really nice and helped us by giving contact numbers of friends and relatives who had 3 BHK villas for rent. Eventually we were getting calls from LL's who were looking for tenants and the rental price's were below the average market rate. So it's best to network with LL's only as they are really helpful.

Hi Veela, Since your looking at a job in Sharjah @ AED 50k per month, you could look at properties in Ajman. A 3 bhk apartment would cost between AED 55 to 75k annually. Schools are cheaper in these emirates as I have been told and there are many good schools there. Dubai is an expensive city to live in with no guarantee on rental increases. In Sharjah for the first 3 years there is no rental increase and in ajman for the first 2 years there is no increase. Utilities are cheaper too as there is no additional tax such as housing fees which we pay in dubai and is about 5% of your annual rent. Dubai is not far from these emirates. My MIL lives in Ajman (works there) and she happily comes to dubai on a regular basis, takes her about 1/2 hr and she does not speed. Think you should first look into schools and costs pertaining to them first, as everyone has mentioned, schools fees take quite a bit. Speak to your company to see if they cover school fees, as a few companies do so. Personally speaking, I think you can manage it as long as you do not get caught up with the glamorous side of this place. This could be outdated, not sure, but here is a link to EW school fees in sharjah. http://www.expatwoman.com/dubai/monthly_faqs_sharjah_school_fees_8848.aspx

Do a search on facebook for the "Abu Dhabi Dog Walking Locations" group. They have listed various beaches with GPS coordinates. I do know that there is a hotel in Ghantoot which has a beach and allows one to bring their dogs. Met this lady at a day care center once who used to go there during the weeks with her large dog.

Hi, we're about to move to Dubai this summer, and are planning our life right now (at least we try to). We will have around 50 000 AED/month. From what I have read in this thread, we should be able to have a decent life (my husband, our 3 children and I). I am interested in why is no one talking about buying a property rather than renting? As I have researched the mortgage should be a little more than a monthly rent for 10 years, and in the end you have a property of your own. Am I missing something? I have noticed that renting and buying in Sharjah is far less expensive, and it is a kind of a suburb to Dubai. You can always drive downtown on weekends, right? Since my job is in Sharjah, we will probably be staying there as well. What is a decent neighborhood over there to look for a property to rent/buy? I would like a 3B house or apartment with shared facilities as pool, gym and could I afford that since I would be settling for Sharjah? Thank you. Pretty sure an expat cannot buy properties in Sharjah unless your a local or GCC national. Best to move here and then see if it's worth buying or not.

I have no clue about bamboo but if your are looking for trees that require less water and will give you great shade, look for Neem or flame of the forest. Both need little water (winters once a week and summers once in two days) but will take about 3 to 5 years to grow tall.

I am reminded of these wise words by Abraham Lincoln "You can fool all the people some of the time, and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time." To the OP (Badia), with a great tool like the internet, there is lots of credible information there, however, there is also lots of bad pseudoscience mumbo jumbo quackery out there which is very dangerous. It's very important, when researching by your self, to look for credibility. In matters pertaining to science, it's quite easy. Look for renowned scientific institutions who are constantly researching along with peer reviews (evaluation of the same study which are undertaken again by others to be 100% certain that the original findings were accurate). The quackery research and claims are never peer reviewed and if they ever are, the findings by the reviewers are always the opposite. Personally, I would say, understand Genetic's and the physics of EMF's and you will have a clear answer. Also exercise common sense and don't fall for scaremongering and if you do most of the symptoms are psychosomatic.

There are many things harmful to children, War and poverty come to mind first. There's also superstition and ignorance. Good night ladies, time for me and my dogs to go out and soak some RF waves.

I'm not convinced. It will take years for long term effects ( if any) to show up. Interestingly , the doctors treating my brother said that until around ten years ago that particular type of sarcoma was almost always only seen on lower limbs but yet in recent years they had seen more and more on chest area exactly where a shirt pocket sits. My advice to OP who asked the original question would be to google and read and then make her own decision. I think people have to draw their own conclusions. For me, I would personally not live within a few metres of a power station . I do not allow my kids to keep their phones in their pockets and I use dial up not broadband. Maybe over the top but my decision and I think everyone has to make their own decision . There HAVE been studies showing how wifi etc affects DNA of living organism . I believe the study you refer to showed no short term problems but so far no long term studies have been done. I. Personally think that if it is a problem it will take a number of years for health problems to show. HPA ( health protection agency) advises that there is no clear scientific evidence of risk but the possibility remains and research is still ongoing with another report due soon. For the past 10 years in dubai, I have always lived near power stations and cellular towers. Come over to my place and you will see this big gigantic Cell tower right in front of our villa. Imagine that amount of RF traffic 100,000 times more then a wifi unit. I grow my own vegetables and fruit successfully and have 3 dogs and 2 cats who are very healthy and we routinely do the cancer screenings and every thing is just fine with us. I do hope you realize that although you use a router, your neighbors are still using RF wifi units. So all types of prevention is basically in vain unless you live in the middle of the desert with nothing around you.

In all honestly, Governments who have banned WIFI in schools have only done so to please parents and nothing more. Did you know that baby monitors use the exact same frequency that wifi units use, why have governments not banned that? Sir William Stewart, who started the scare in the UK and who was the Chairman of HPA (Health Protection Agency) in the UK commissioned a scientific study on this matter. The study which was published in various scientific journals and had critical peer reviews concluded that WIFI was not harmful to children. The World Health Organization along with other leading Scientific Research organizations and Scientist from around the globe all concur the same. This study was conducted with children in classrooms. They put up multiple WIFI units with children in classrooms along with other devices such as laptops, ipads, cell phones, ipods and other devices children use and which use wifi data. Absolutely safe. Sir William was not happy with the results and pressured the government of UK to redo the study and his request was turned down as it's a waste of time and money to redo it again. This same study has been done in Australia any many other countries with the same conclusion. Since wifi frequencies fall under non ionizing radiation, there have been over 25,000 studies on this subject pertaining to safety over the last 30 years and results always end up the same, it's safe. With false claims like this we are stopping our scientific community from actually finding cures and advancing our society. There are 2 types of radiation. ionizing and non ionizing. Ionizing is dangerous while non ionizing is harmless. We, thats you, me and others who grew up at a time where there were no Cell phones were still surrounded by non ionizing signals. Power line, light bulbs, television (the transmitter basically), AM/FM radios are all something we have grown up with and all these give out the same RF (radio frequency). So we have always had non ionizing radiation surrounding us. Why our grandparents too grew up the same. We are surrounded by radio, GPS, mobile data, bluetooth signals, etc and removing wifi will not help curb anything. I guess you would have to put up a Faraday cage to keep out stuff like this. More then WIFI, I think we need to worry about the big bad sun which gives out much more lethal radiation. Since the 19th century we have been studying radiation (both), so unlike smoking, we have far more knowledge on this subject and instead of just listening to a handful or people (most of them not even qualified) and the media (who make money by it's increased viewership) love to scare us (like with the vaccine causes autism nonsense) without knowing the actual science behind anything. So if you don't understand the science behind it don't comment or scare people please, that just wrong.

Buddha, whatever you have mentioned has no credibility as lots of websites scare people with out giving any scientific citations. Having said this, the people who would most suffer would be people working directly on live sites (elect. substations or cellular towers) everyday. Their only protection is basic Safety gear which are heat and flame resistant clothing, fall harnesses, helmets, gloves etc but nothing fancy to protect them from any sort of radiation. All countries (not so much this country or region) follow strict health and safety guidelines and regulations pertaining to employees who work, climb such sites on a daily basis. No health hazards have been recorded directly due to their line of work. We are surrounded by EMF's every where, your own home minus your wifi unit give out EMF's 24x7. Hospitals and malls are super EMF sources. In fact if you even go to an open field you will not be able to run away from EMF's as the earth is a giant EMF itself. Cell phones causing Cancer is nonsense as they give out non-ionizing radiation and there is no scientific evidence that non-ionizing radiation causes cancer. RF energy along with other carcinogens cause DNA mutations which lead to the various cancer diseases. You wifi unit along with your microwave use non- ionizing radiation while nuclear reactors, UV light, X-ray machines using certain frequencies give out ionizing radiation which is dangerous and mutates DNA cells.

There is no health concern nor danger. Lots of scientific studies have been done and concur the same. As a simple example, If it were a real danger, you would not see birds nesting there or any where surrounding such places. By now, we would have seen mutated DNA in insects, animals and plant life which use such places as nesting or sleeping grounds.

Make sure its mention that dogs are allowed on your rental contract as thats some kind of safety if anything goes wrong. Dogs do just fine in apartments, yup, the big ones and they are not noisy nor loud and having 2 dogs is the best as they keep each-other entertained. All big cities have dogs in apartments.

Was just on Youtube and so many people posted videos of yesterday's rain. Majority of the drivers where holding their cameras and driving. So disturbing to know that we all share the roads with such drivers.

Just to be on the safe side, keep her indoors when everyone is out of the house. Play some music so she can't hear the outside sounds and lots of chew toys or even better a meaty bone to keep her mentally stimulated. It's really troubling when people pick on a dog which does nothing. We had a similar situation but we got great support from our neighbors and the person complaining lived on the behind street, 10 villas away.

Wow... so unfair.... where do they expect dog owners to live? not everyone can afford a villa here. What a cheap stunt by DPG and just 7 days is being unreasonable for anyone to find another home.

I don't know where the barking is coming from unfortunately. We have lived there for 6 years now, and had the dog for 4 years, so I will be really annoyed if a newcomer has decided to cause problems! I know some people will think so what, get over it. But she is very much a part of our family, and I would hate anything to happen to her. I am going to be paranoid about someone leaving out poison now! Don't get paranoid. If anything goes wrong (dog gets poisoned) you contact DM and make them refer to the person who lodged the complaint against your dog. I would suggest you visit everyone on your street and behind street and give them your contact details and ask them if your dog is inconveniencing them in any way. Support from neighbors is very important.

Thanks Ladies :) I am trying to source it locally but if not then will have to buy it online. Going to hit the meat sellers and ask them where they source it as it's used in sausage making too.
