DD's nursery asked for aed 3000 as a deposit!?! Deductible, but not reimbursable, which means, as the OP said, a nice interest free loan. Asti, maybe it is common to all the nurseries, but do you know if it is legal? Where could I ask? The thing is, I already paid because the deadline was 2 weeks ago, but I am still not sure we will be in dubai in sept 2013... Anybody managed to get their deposit back? TIA

Hi Mubar, thanks for the link. I saw this thread before, and therefore I thought that we needed the visa, as it is explained there, but as the new sponsor sent me the entry permit, I started to wonder. But I think I will wait for the visa. Thanks again;)

I have the Tefal and have been very happy about it so far. Never had the Philips Air Fryer so can't comment on that one, but finally, I chose the Tefal because the brand was apparently (from what I have been told) the first one to develop that kind of frying with very little oil, using the method of air circulating in the pan. HTH

Hi ladies, I cannot thank you enough for your support and the time you spent for answering me, giving me advice and giving me hope again that this forum is not all about judging and condemning other people's choice. You are all stars!!! I will def inspire me of the famous list, and for the job hunting part, well, let's hope I can find something part time and with a flexible employer...if I eventually decide to go back to work. Once again, thank you and have a lovely w-e :)

Dear Admin, Thank you for your reply. I have read your rules before, I know already what they are. What I don't understand is why a whole thread would be deleted, when only the offensive posts could be removed. My OP was a genuine (and I hope interesting for other mums also) question, and I think that deleting an entire thread is not fair to the OP, nor to the ladies that contributed in a good way to it. To Molly, thank you for your concern, I really appreciate it. To WG and AD, the 2 threads were deleted so quickly I don't even know what happened!?!

Thanks a lot DB!! Have you heard about scafa school in jlt too? I did a search recently on the forum, but with no luck. The school is new, so maybe it doesn't have a lot of review yet. The course you took seems amazing. I also would like to go professional with my hobby, but the red tape here scares me too, and also, I have to admit, I haven't totally figured out what I want to do (but def. food/cooking related). Thanks again, have a lovely day

Hi the dangerous blonde:) hope you are doing good! If u don't mind me asking, why did you take the course in iccadubai? For personal interest, or for professional matter? I am asking because I too was interested in iccadubai, but can't really understand if they are meant for professional or amateur (if that makes sense?) Which course did you follow? Thanks a lot for sharing, I am really interested too in cooking classes (but long term, not only one hour or two). Thanks again:)

Thanks for the links Believe! Yes, despite what they are saying, there have been hidden indirect increases. And as you said, the difference between nursery and kg1 is huge and surprising!! So far, i haven't received any answer from raffles to my complain. lets hope they reply soon something fair!!

So far, all we can do is complain, complain, complain. I know that several parents did reply already to the email announcing the increase, to inform the school that they refuse the increase. I did as well. According to me, it is not legal to increase the fees once the year has started. According to them, there is a mention in the term and conditions that they are allowed to do so. Only way to voice our opinion is to stand united, telling them that we refuse the increase. But all of us should complain (unless somebody is happy to pay 20%more, which I seriously doubt), and should write their refusal.

Never heard of planet maternity either, but I always found the medela ones in babyshop. Maybe try to call other branches of babyshop? Or maybe mothercare (your best bet is to go to the biggest one, in dubai mall). HTH

I think may is better, because most of the kids are still here (whereas in September, I noticed some of them hadn't returned from summer break yet). Plus, as the previous poster wrote, September is busy for the kids, settling period etc. HTH (Ps: madamerose, I bumped the thread looking for part time job for you, thanks a lot)

I went last week to the wharf brunch. The food was not outside (i think in winter, buffet is outside, so right in between the 2 restaurants) it was divided between the wharf (mostly p*rk section) and the main buffet was inside the al muna restaurant. Nobody was seating/eating outside, because it was still too hot. You can use the entertainer vouchers (family) for both restaurants. HTH

Very strange that the restaurant stamped the ticket, as they are not part of the scheme. I would go and complain to them as well, as if you had known, you could have gone to spinneys as daily did. This is what I used to do too, when I needed to park there, cause the cost is excessive.

We went to the wharf (mina salam) last Friday for brunch and we used the vouchers in the family book. You can use them for the wharf or al muna, basically the two restaurants share the same buffet. On the voucher it is written al muna, but you can use them for the wharf as well. You can also upgrade for the alcohol brunch. HTH
