I also looked at some dodgy websites or ads, as well as on dubizzle, where many of the jobs look too good to be true. it is so hard to find a job here, especially when you have first to identify which posted job is genuine or not. Good luck to you OP. Pinks, any part time positions you may know? Thanks:)

thanks ladies for your info. Actually, i am more interested at postgrades, since I already have a law degree from my home country. i wish i was young and motivated enough to start all over again (and psychology would have been my first choice, it must be so interesting breteuil) but I think it is more reasonable for me to look for either a specialization (like I was saying, maybe HR related since I used to do a lot of labour law) or a course in a brand new field for me, ideally in a subject universally recognized, so I could use it here or in my home country. this new subject could be psychology/ social science/ law or even food related (these are my main interests) if that make sense? I am still at the very beginning of my thinking about all this, hence the still very vague questions. Thanks a lot for any other info. AmyAus82, what was the organization you studied with?

Hi anondubai I have a queen size bed from PB that I recently bought. I didn't t buy new sheets for it, since my old ones fit it, and I didn't buy any sheets from PB. You may find though that only the PB's bed skirts fit their bed. As the skirts were quite expensive, I just use a very large loose sheet as a skirt, and it makes the trick;) Ps: if I remember well, my sheets were originally purchased in debenhams. HTH

Daza this is so so tempting....;) it seems so easy, but knowing my 2 DD, I wonder if I shouldn't wait till we cn all travel together with my DH... They are easily and quickly bored, so it might be a bit too long on the plane. Oh well, I so don't know what to do now, lol! Macallan I am in new dubai (dubai marina), thanks

Hi ladies, Thank you so much for all your valuable inputs? It gives me a lot to think. Actually I would go only for a week, cause my DD has only one week holidays. @ appletiser, these are all the reasons why I am so scared about travelling alone with them...it is true that 2 and 4 yo is still very young! @macallan And sandfly, thanks for the ideas, will have a look on these places...and on holidays camps here. Any ideas where I could enroll them both for a couple of hours a day? @daza Singapore would be my first choice ( I would love to visit Singapore, but so far, I was not lucky enough to realize this dream), and I checked about sentosa, which seems wonderful with kids, but I was a bit concerned about the long flight on my own with the kids and the time difference...they may end up tired and cranky, and then the holidays could well be spoiled. Any ladies could advice on that (the flight time and the time diff)? Thanks

Thanks plainjane. I know I kept it very late, but my DH has only known a day ago that he would be travelling for business during my 4yo schools holidays. Now, knowing I am going to be one week alone with the kids, I just now started to think that maybe I should travel. Do you have by any chance any rec. for Cyprus hotels? Thanks again!

thanks priscilla, sorry to read that you have been through all this hassle with no luck so far...It shows how much the fee's system is yet to be defined and properly regulated by MOSA. I will try then to simply ask the nursery to lower the amount, since I can argue I haven't signed their policy yet (I did for my other DD, reason why I didn't try anything last year). Thanks again for sharing your experience

Thanks AQ. Yes, it seems a lot to me too. For my other DD, I recently paid AED 1500 for KG1 in sept 2012, for school. From this amount, the justification of AED 1000 is a bit of a mystery, because the school calls it assessment fees, but my DD didn't have any assessment since she is a "returning student" (nursery she was in and new school are the same company). But as the amount was not too high, I agreed and paid. Now, for nursery, the amount is the double, this is why I am trying to find out a way to avoid that. To fairycakeyumm, I understand what you are saying, and I know the amount is deductible, but it is not reimbursable. So if some unforeseen circumstances happen before september 2012 (for ie, God forbid, the family has to leave the country because loss of a job, etc...and we all know that a lot can happen in five months in dubai), then the money is lost. Just because the parents are asked to pay such amount in advance will not force them to send the student to the nursery, in the example above, and the place in nursery would still be "lost". Now, I know from experience that all the nurseries in Dubai have massive waiting lists, so why do they secure their places so much? I think the schools and nurseries use this as an excuse to ask the money in advance, and I am sure no place is ever "lost"...it will just be allocated to the next child on their list. Anyway, I don't think any parent want to waste nursery's time, but nurseries sure want to make money. Sorry, as english is not my first language, I don't know if that makes sense;)) As you mentioned, I will try to argue with it, let's hope for the best;) Thanks again!

thanks derien! I don't understand how the regulations can be so different between schools and nurseries...there must be something stated for nurseries too, no? they are making money this way, and it is like blocking someone's money with no interest in return. Do you know by any chance which department is responsible for nurseries, then? Thanks a lot again Derien!

Hi, I haven't been there for brunch, but I had diner there recently. Portions are big ( to my standards;)) and food is lovely. Staff was very very nice, although service was a bit slow (restaurant was full). Same as you October, I didn't find their dessert to be any special, but I guess their speciality is meat and grill;) Outside terrace was lovely too, especially in this weather. HTH

Hi appletiser I totally agree with you, I thought I just needed to find a good school for early years, no matter what curriculum. But is it easy/ doable to switch from one curriculum to another when the kids reach high school?

Thanks helping hands.. I still don't understand the massive difference, though. If I compare only IB schools, which are indeed already on the expensive side, I can see DIA is 32000 per year for kg1, while gems is 53000!?!?! Maybe it is because it is a new school? Anyway, I hope The other IB schools won't follow too quickly;)

Thanks a lot for your replies ladies. The link is very interesting dramaqn, but somehow doesn't list EIS for example as having PYP...I am a bit confused, because on their website, it seems eis has a primary section...from my understanding, I have the choice between DIA, raffles south, eis, GWA and UAS ( thanks appletiser). Am I missing something? Thanks

Thanks twilight. So that means I should be looking for schools that follow PYP first (for I am looking for my DD who is 4yo)? I have looked at gems world academy, but it looks much more expensive than others, why is that? Any personal experience?
