thank you he has a desktop PC i think its E Machines but would have to double check it. We initially advised him to check it out and see what is WOW friends recomended but they didnt really come back with much. Anyway, thank you all for your input, i will revert back to him with what youhave said and let him decide, maybe he just needs to give his PC a clear out. The connection for internet is DU and its he connects directly to the internet connection in the wall maybe thats the issue with "lagging" Thank you again appreciate the time :)

thanks everyone, He basically plays WOW on his PC and what he said is the following Purely so I can see what im doing and to avoid any nasty stuff such as gas and poison that my character stands in during raids. currently I can only see 50 meters in front of my character and due to the view distance settings low. If I lag in raids it reduces my damage done. Im not sure what I have atm, but its not very good haha (I will get back to you on that) Im willing to spend about 4000 AED (he works his first ever job (he is 18) so FYI i wont be paying for it Lol) The current graphic settings are at their minimum, which just about get me through into raids and stuff like that. And as for anti aliasing, I have never heard of it…Lol I will get back to you on the current specs for my computer

Honestly, Egg, most gamers should have a reasonable idea of speccing themselves. If he doesn't. tell him to find out- you're setting yourself up for a lot of work for something he should be able to do himself, or at least have an idea about. There are as many different types of gaming computers as there are colours of nailpolish. And that doesn't include the fact that many gamers build their own (cheaper than ready specced, but you have to know what you\re doing). the point i am asking is he is a gamer and plays the games but not necessarily a computer genius who knows all about specs etc he is a teenage boy who plays games, he has tried to find out some info but its all coming back with alienware which is super expensive. I was hoping someone would be able to point us in the right direction as i came here asking for some advice as he knows what types of things he wants i was asking as below "Possibly get one made up with a spec?"

I love them in small doses, they are great with me and have always treated me as one of their own i visit home often without DH and stay there (on my own as kids stay here most of the time) we have dinner watch a movie go out etc, they are fine ..... now that i live 3500 miles away that is, different story when ilived in uk just never seemed to be able to get away from involving them in all our decision making, now its great FIL is a super character and i love him to bits MIL has a pure heart and always does what she feels is right for her and her family, very set in her ways and if you cross her then i pray for you because your not likely to get out unscathed Lol. But generally i love them to pieces (but i dont want to live around the corner from them ever again Lol)

why oh why do a very well known and expensive photgraphers based here in Dubai, insist on the following when doing school photos. 1) Refusing to process your order if you do not include the following, tel number, email and PO box. wtf???? 2) Advise you they will digitally retouch and correct the photos. last year a beautiful asian girl was photoshopped to have white skin, they did her face but not her hands and neither was necessary. 3) make them stand looking like idiots, last year it was thembs in boys trouser pockets, this year its hand behind the back to the extent it looks like they have no arms. Madness I tell you madness. And I am furious that I have to provide my contact info (presumably so they can spam me) but they threaten the 1998 copyright law. So it only works one way then using the law. Fuming I am I tell you. Rant over. Apologies. [b'>What school? We had a rather interesting take on class photos from last years RIS photo's which was a nice change the solo picture was just your standard sitting photo, have not seen any yet this year?[/b'> edited by egg on 05/12/2011

Just had exact same talk we explained that there are some bad people out there who for many different reasons (no specifics) would want to take boys and girls away from their families. We explained that if anyone approaches him near school to go straight away and find nearest teacher, he gets the bus home from school which collects the lower grades from within school grounds, but you just never know, we also told him if he needs to to scream at the top of his voice and run back into school and if someone "grabs" him to bite and kick, its so difficult to try and explain to them the innocence he just found it hard to believe that people would want to take kids away from their parents and family bless :( But in light of recent events i think its important not to become complacent and to explain the ways of the world and how they can try and protect themselves. edited by egg on 05/12/2011

Hi Everyone I am so glad someone raised this topic. My DS1 is 12 and has been asking me for a mobile since he was 10, because some of his mates have them. My view to him is, a phone is not a toy, and you can have one once you are old enough to go to the mall without your parents (then we need to call him etc...) until then NO. Then last week I got the request for BB, and I asked him how is he going to pay the bill? mmmm....no answer. So we have a rain check on the phone. He does have an iPad, he had that for his 11th Birthday using money from rellys and from us, and he now drives me crazy with it, noise level too high, 'please input password to update my apps' and he keeps breaking every set of headphones (4 sets this year) and I am now refusing to buy any more, until Christmas!! So they can Skype on this thing, and video chat with their mates if it works out...and he chats with his mates in Bangkok and Singapore so his life is not too bad! My DS2 is 10, he has an iPad - same headphone issue and Skype and Minecraft (anyone else's suffering with Minecraft?) A gameboy, did not want a DS of any type and has not dared ask for a phone...yet. Broken 4 sets of headphones...but all pairs lasted longer than DS1 My DS3 is 8 - no phone, no iPad only a Nintendo 3DS. Model son, only broken 1 pair of headphones, never lost his 1st Gameboy (still has it) and has not lost his 3DS since last May...so maybe third time lucky we have done something right as parents!! He has been told he is too young for an iPad, and he doesn't even talk about a mobile phone So there you have it, a synopsis of my little corner of the world Minecraft i hear you on that one my DS is mesmerised by it Lol. He has a very cheap phone as he started to go and play out at friends in another block etc and i was concerned he had no way to contact us and vice versa its a 99 aed nokia and thats all he is getting.

Thanks ladies, Last year was completely different Santa sent him a proper letter from the North Pole and he even sent him a video, however after christmas he just out of the blue said Mum i know its you who is Santa i was mortified tried to pretend i didnt know what he was talking about and asked him to explain how he thought i had managed to get letters and videos sent to him. I also suspect I suspect that what triggered it was going to see Santa at Madinat last year, i think it got him thinking, Santa was Phillipino and afterwards he asked why was Santa Phillipino we explained that as he is soo busy he has special friends who help him go around the world to meet all the children and find out if they have been good and then eachone reports back to Santa in North Pole Lol, his face was dumfounded. I guess im just a little sad now as this means he is growing up i asked him this weekend to write a letter to Santa with his wish list on it and he just sort of looked at me and shrugged his shoulders. I will try one more time tonight to get him to write to him and see how it goes. I love christmas and i love seeing his face when he is totally suprised and in complete awe the innocence of it all :( X

But he as a trained Doctor was negligent in his care of his patient, no different from NHS doctors who get sent to prison for the same, yes he was not all to blame MJ didnt help himself, however, i think the sentencing reflects that. Live twitter updates here http://news.sky.com/home/world-news/article/16120390 edited by egg on 29/11/2011 The judge gave him the maximum sentence possible for the crime for which he was convicted. Good decision :)

Spinnney's usually have it maybe just out of stock. Has he checked in Waitrose? They might have some. Give Waitrose a go as he is there in DM. Oh, maybe that was where I saw it? Sorry to have put your DH out, egg. I was really impressed with the range of flavourings they had in GL two weeks ago, but I suppose everyone's after them at Christmas.. Aw no dont be silly he was there anyway about time he did some running around for me Lol. I guessed it might be because its almost Christmas they might not have had any i sat on the floor in spinneys searching the back and beyond of the shelves and reading all the labels to see if they did have it but it was out of stock so if you saw a lady sat on the floor in spinneys this evening in her work suit rummaging around it was me Lol x Hi Tea Bag iw ant to make peppermint creams, my MIL said i can use Peppermint oil but not as much? Hey Simpleas no he didnt when he called me he had already left, not to worry i will keep on my search might try choithrams too :)

Think there is a different side to this story, Last year we had a similar letter but it said the probelm was parents wanted to give cakes / goodies for kids birthdays but were making the teacher responsible for dishing them out for example cutting the cake and giving kids a slice etc, they didnt have enough time to do this as well as sort out the class, this was brought to the attention after several class parties were arranged by parents who then failed to turn up but got the cakes delivered to school and left it to them to sort out.
