There are a few options for tanning beds. Hollywood Tans at Jumeirah Beach Centre (the ugly looking blue one on beach road) they do session books so you buy 10 sessions its about 500 AED you get 1 free high powered session too, the booths are very good and i only needed to go on for about 4 times (to get a good base tan you have to do 2 days together for example go on at 6pm monday go on again 6pm tuesday the melanin has time to come to the surface, or so a tan expert once told me) then have a break for a day or 2 and do the same again, as i said i only needed 4 sessions for a nice natural glow. www.hollywoodtansdubai.com There is gold salon in Al Atwar tower on SZR they have 1 bed only its 10 AED per minute not the best booth the tubes dont look like they get changed very often. www.goldsalondubai.com Tanning Zone in SAdaf 2 at JBR they are 9aed per minute. http://www.tanningzonesalon.com/web.html Mega sun lounge in Media City - not sure on cost but http://www.megasunlounge.com/

We went last year and USD is the way to go you get better rate and also if you bring some back to convert back to UAE dirham you get a good chunk of it back, for example i changed 1000 AED to Baht and 1000 AED to dollars i came back with both the above i lost approx 180 AED on the Baht and only about 15 AED on the Dollar.

I would favour Asda over Tesco personally, Oh for the days when you could get the kids uniforms from Asda for 2.50 for a pack of 3 t-shirs and they lasted ages, my DS uniform here is appalling quality who makes school shirts white this is kids were talking about it should be mandatory to make them a blue shade Lol

Chavsville indeed, i dont know who they were. On another note i put on im a celebrity last night on the Ipad for a laugh and again only recognised a few the others i have no idea what celebrity status theyhave or how they got it. Lol well, it seems retired athletes, soap stars and anyone whose "career" is flagging... for some past winners it has been their salvation but i daresay there are others who rue the day they ever got involved.. Can be a huge gamble but can really pay off for some.. This year there are only 2 i don't know.. Only 2 blimey, im well behind with tv Lol :)

Daiso have red boxes in different sizes 7 aed each i got them for xmas gifts cheaper than wrapping paper. 100 aed im not sure on that budget but what about a trip to outlet mall see what they have. I love the idea of a scarf so what about carefour they sell them for 10 aed each and i have loads of them they wash super and have lasted really well all my family buy them in bulk when here and take them home. Second box what about some body mist like the fantasies range white musk or there is a shop in mirdiff that sell a gift set of 4 for 39 aed its near to Gap i think. Third what about some makeup pallet lip gloss or eyeshadow, mishkaya do nice ones for as little as 29 aed and you can get them in lovely gold shiny cases. Daiso is in either mirdiff cc or oasis mall on szr. Good luck

Surely appendix removal is an emergency if it bursts the consequences could be fatal? Can you not just go to A&E with her and say she has appendicitis? Hope she is ok. X Thats sort of what i was getting at the maids health is at risk so best just to get it done surely i think 7000 quoted is a reasonable amount for major operation? If she has already had tests done at 1 place then goes to rashid where the op will cost maybe 5000 plus cost of additional tests probably best just to stick with where you have been and get it done ASAP? Even in an emergency situation, you still have to pay/or get the approval from insurance before they will operate. And even with a definitive diagnosis prior to getting to a hospital, they will still run and re run any previous tests done at huge cost to reach their own conclusion re: diagnosis. (At least, this is the case at the 'private' hospitals we have been to here)

PArt time is illegal, youhave to sponsor your own maid or pay an agency maid. We sponsored our maid and she lived out for 1 st year we paid her salary plus travel costs and seperate accomodation cost. Its too much messing and we had her move in with us 2 years ago best move we maid saved a lot of money and its handy as if im running late i dont have to worry about taxi fares for her to get home and i actually dont know she is even in the house half the time she has become part of our family and its great. If you want part time best opting for an agency and paying by the hour. Good luck it took me 4 months to find 1 i could trust and get a good feeling from its a nightmare Lol

Having major issue with maintenance services who keep coming but not fixing my washer, im desperate can you hire a machine? I figures its got to be cheaper than sending to the laundry a house full of 5 people? This has been going on almost 2 weeks and im no nearer getting a solution from maintenance?

did you post it on maids board? I cant help with agency as we found our own and went through the whole sponsorship thing etc which worked better for us, its really easy to renew and do it yourself. Do a search there are hundreds of threads, Howdra seems to come up quite good for agency maids. Good luck

Ha ha depends who you get a t&t there is one who only does pedicures and she is by far the most doziest person i have come across spends half her time looking around the shop at everyone else and always takes 30 minutes longer than anyone else, i have specifically asked not to have her anymore as last time she was not concentrating and hurt my toe :( she also cut my nails wonky not impressed.

Cheap flights you could try flydubai or air arabia we got 2 return flights to sri lanka on friday with air arabia for 2300 (1150 each) only trouble we had was finding hotel availability but try agoda.com or booking.com for hotels.

My DS had it done in uk when he was 3 he had to stay overnight as he had a bleed during theatre, if no bleeding then they are usually allowed home. I have to say little ones recover far better than big ones DS was 3 and eating toast 1 hour after i was 22 didnt eat for 5 days and was s0everly ill for at least 2 weeks after, definitely better to get it done younger. Hope everything goes well :)
