When i lived in the UK i saw this so often, but i think it really does depend on the area, my mum lives in a not too nice area of Manchester and she works for a large supermarket chain in the same area and i am not joking when i say half the shoppers are in their Pj's, school runs you often see mothers in their Primark Pyjamas you know the fleecy over sized ones Lol I have one been to the local shop just before 10pm when i realised we had no milk for breakfast threw a coat on a got in the car and whizzed round tot he shop but that is the only time, i would never go to school in them unless i was firmly staying in the car and not getting out, never in daylight would i be seen outdoors in my Pyjamas :(

Minimum working age in Dubai 18 years normally - note that students on student residence visas are not permitted to work. There was talk of allowing students to work part-time but this might only apply to Emirati citizens, not expat residents. 15 years in certain cases - restricted hours and type of work, and parent or guardian permission is needed. Child camel jockey job applications are no longer accepted as the practice has been banned and the children sent home. Or somewhere else at least. Robots are used instead, and not paid a salary. However, they do get free oil and maintenance. If you are a robot, you're probably better off working for Sony. :)

We did Phuket last August too but actually thought the weather was good, some days it rained, but only for short bursts, a couple of days (2 out of 14 i think) it rained pretty much all day, so limited to what you can do, we just stayed in with room service watched movies all day and went dancing in the rain in the afternoon (lovely change from here). It was generally nice however, my only negative was the humidity it was stifling, particuarly as most restaraunts are only over sheltered and not enclosed, eating whilst sweating made life a bit uncomfortable, other tha that take an umbrella be prepared for trips to be cancelled last minte, we couldnt go on 2 trips because of the weather, but we did enjoy seeing thailand, it was our first trip there.

Thought i would update i went to Harvest Home today, its in Jumeirah Centre the one on beach road with margrudys attached to it. they had bunting and napkins and cake stands BUT they were not union jack, they were kind of like queens stamp type heads (cameo?) and floral patterns, they cost 65 aed per bunting and you get 12 triangle type flags that drop from it, the napkins were 45 and the cake stands (card) were 90 AED, the only union jack they had was 1 biscuit tin and some ceramic mugs. To me they just didnt really look British?????

You have his phone number and i presume you booked him through the taxi firm? If not sure they will know from his GPS where he was going etc, report him to the taxi firm and the RTA, make sure when you do tell them that if you do not get a satisfactory response from them you will take the matter to the police, stress that you are giving them an opportunity to resolve this issue and failure to do so will leave you with no alternative!

N Style in MOE do it, However, i was a huge advocate of Gelish and Bio Gel Nail paints etc, but after having about 5/6 manicures using Gelish my nails are absolutely goosed they are a mess and have all broken and split went very thin and it left a horrid roughness to my nails, i am gutted took me almost 2 years being here to get my nails in great shape and i ruined it by having Gelish, have to start all over again growing them. :( just my opinion, like i said i originally thought wow fantastic no chipping woo hoo, :(

Thank you egg - I will be upfront if it happens again. DH had to work away for 3 nights so I was left in the lurch which made it harder. And yes I was asked for toiletries!!!!! Aw i know its unfair really, but if they ask to come again just say thats fine (if you decide its ok), however we wont be doing anything, maybe trip to the beach / pool but no eating out etc. Good luck and dont feel too bad, unfortunately, i reckon its happened to most EW members at some point x

Loaded potatoe Skins, Bake potatoes in the oven, when done remove and leave to cool for 10 minutes, cut potatoes in half Scraped out with a spoon the soft potatoe inside leaving the skins, do this for all the potatoes Put the potatoe in a bowl add butter and grated cheese, mix together Take the potatoe skin and re-fill it with the mix of potatoe and cheese Place the skins on a baking tray, sprinkle a little cheese on top and re-bake in the oven for about a further 15 minutes on high temperature until the cheese on top has browned, alternatively, grill for the last 5 minutes, These are great as they can be eaten hot or cold and you can add anything you want (i usually add bacon loudons to the mix, but as your guests are muslim you could substitue with something else?) They are Tasty :) always go down a treat when i have parties.

Happens all the time, its the mentality that you live in Dubai and can afford to, we have it all the time we have been here now 2.5 years the 1st year we had lots of visitors we ran them around showed them the sights (i am sick of seeing the burj khalifa lol) took them out etc etc, it cost us a fortune, particualrly from family members as they dont even bring toiletries, we got emails saying can you just get some and we will sort it out when we get there, big mistake, on our part i feel for not saying something about it, so the year after we had visitors and we told them we would not be doing anything as WE are not on holiday and we have to live here, we wont be eating out every night as that is not what WE normally do when no one is here, WE would not take time off from work needless to say the visits have dwindled and so far this year we have only had 1 visitor and dont have anymore pencilled in so far yet this year. I think, i have learned this, that you have to be open upfornt and just say (i did this) i may live in dubai but i am by no means loaded and cannot afford to take time from work, run you around and take you out for dinner everynight, tell them you have a shopping kitty (english for funds?) and they should put some money in the jar for everday essentials etc. Good luck, its really hard but once bitten never again is what i say, make sure you set your stall out before the next visitors. I dont mind the odd treat out for my guests but i think its wrong for them to expect everything after all would they go on holiday to somewhere else and expect someone else to pick up their bill???

Have a read of the book 17 day diet by Dr Moreno (i think) i erally enjoyed reading it and it explains al about why we do what we do, has some great info on what happens to your body when you eat fats etc (all in plain english no medical jargon) i really enjoyed the book and it changed my outlook on food. a friend of mine swears by Paul Mckenna book i can make you thin but i have never read that good luck
