Hi - I don't know too much about the reputation of the nursery but I went to visit in June. They ticked a lot of boxes on paper in terms of summer camp , full time hours and their prices seemed reasonable unlike some other places. After the visit I decided aginst it. I just felt that it was quite dirty (the lunch room was fithy at 11am I was told the children had just finished their 10am snack but everyine seemed to be preparing lunch not cleaning up) and when I was taken into the class room that my chidren woud be in they were watching a DVD. I am not saying children shouldn't watch TV but when you are paying a samll forture for care I was hoping for something a little more stimulating and hands on even if it is coming towards the end of term. I just decided that there were other places only a little more expensive that seemed a better option for our family. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Hi my boys have recently started at Little Scholars Academy in Umm Sequim. They have settled very well and seem to enjoy it. They have spaces I think for under 1's BUT I think the hours are 7am - 6pm. Good Luck.

Hi I am no expert but most'expat' bank accounts here seem to offer one free bank transfer every month into a UK account if it is with the same bank (Barclays to Barclays, HSBC to HSBC etc etc ) BUT in my experience the banks here don't offer very good exchange rates compared with all the currency exchange booths you see around. Most exchange counters charge 50dhm for a TT to a bank account in the UK but there rates are very much better so in my experience if you are sending 000's rather than 00's dhm you more than recover the charge. I also always ask the counter if that is their best rate of the day as I send money home monthly and they usually improve their rate a little. Also if you are going home in any particular month there is usually no fee to exchange dhm for pounds so I take cash with me and pay it in when I get there. I think you can carry 10,000 pounds in cash into the UK without declaring it. Hope that helps a little. E

I have done the Mistral Brunch at Ibn Battuta a few times with my two horrors and they love it. There is a bouncy castle, petting 'zoo', cookie decorating etc. I think it is only free for children under 6 though. That said Mistral is in the Fine Dining Entertainner and I have used it for Brunch before so perhaps that is an option for you to save some Dhm?

I know Expatriate Law deal with UK (and Australian) divorce advice. I had a very good experience with Emma Williams there. Not sure I have ever hear of a lawyer giving 'mates rates' but maybe you can talk to whoever you choose and explain the situation. They must have come across it before. Good Luck.

A couple of people I know who have European nannies for the children have them here on visit visas and they simply do regular visa runs. This seems to wor for them. And yes I m well aware that it is 'illegal' before the usual suspects start gleefully letting me know...........

Worth checking out ferry crossings too. You can take the Swansea to Cork Ferry from South Wales which will leave you only an hour or so drive from Kenmare from memory or a ferry from Fishgard to Rosslare which is a shorter crossing but a lot more driving. There are some lovely places in South Wales too. The Ring of Kerry drive is lovely and both Kenmare and Dingle are lovely places to stay. Have a great trip.

I have recently met with Emma at Expatriate Law who was really clear and reassuring. I saw her about Australian Law but I am pretty sure she said that she did British law as well.

I had my twins almost three years ago with Dr Sant at the Welcare. I think she now works from Primavera clinic and delivers at the City Hospital and Welcare. I thought she was great and would highly recommend her.

Hi You willbe fine at the Welcare. I arrived in Dubai 28 weeks pregnant with my twins and saw Dr Sant there (she now runs her own clinic at Primavera Medical in Health Care City). The hospital was great and the maternity ward was largely staffed by really friendly South African staff. My babies needed special care and once again the nursing staff were great (not so impressed by the Dr). Dr Sant was lovely. She has worked exptensivly in the UK and Switzerland from memory and was very thorough and caring. Lots of luck. Emma

Does anyone have any experience / recommendations about having a cooker properly installed. I am just about to move into a new apartment and need some one properly qualified to do this. I am afraid I don't know if it is gas or electic yet! Any recommendations gratefully received!
