I recommend the Atlas Spinal center in DHCC, in fact I cannot recommend them highly enough. I suffered from 10 years of back pain following a bad fall. In the last few years I also developed quite debilitating hip pain and then in the last year leg weakness. After years of on and off unsuccessful treatment (in the long term) I went there. They diagnosed that all the problems were in fact coming from my neck, which had thrown my spine out of line resulting in spinal curvature, distorted pelvis and shortening of one leg. In the past I have been told it was many things - mostly disc degeneration. The X- rays they took of my neck and spine showed the problems clearly (funnily enough no-one had done them before - only MRI's). Within two sessions of painless treatment most of my symptoms had eased. Now at the end of my treatment and I have no problems whatsoever. The two doctors are both from the USA - trained chiropractors and are lovely. The initial consultation involved a very detailed history, physical exam and X rays - they are very thorough. I see Dr Katie Henery, she is fantastic, warm, friendly and excellent at what she does. I initially saw the guy who set the clinic up (Dr Finnegan) but he has gone back to the US and has been replaced by a guy who is equally as nice. In fact everyone in the clinic is so warm and welcoming it is a pleasure to go there. The clinic is on the ground floor of the Al Razi building in block E. Tel 04 451 8877 ETA - They initally said that my problem was so bad that it would be a challenge to treat, but they have cured it. It is wonderful to be pain free and able to walk properly again! edited by Genie on 26/07/2012 I second that! My mother had reached a point where she would cry every night from severe pain, until she met Dr. Katie, and now she's doing very well hamdilla! Atlas Spinal center have been a great help in my parents recovery!

Whether you decide on scan or no scan, I highly recommend my doctor, Dr. Raoufi. She doesn't charge a fortune (I never paid more than 450 a visit plus scan) and she's awesome. She's at Arya Clinic on al Wasl and works with a few different hospitals, giving you a variety of choice for places to deliver.

A friend used brown paper bags but had them decorated by her kids and some stickers and it actually looked great! She had a little note printed out and stuck on the bags saying thank you for coming to our party... Clever

Try Sadaf Restaurant on szr, marina or maktoum st. They have authentic Persian food and excellent variety of appetizers, Persian and Lebanese. The view in marina is awesome but the buffet in szr branch is my favorite.

Dr, Simin Ahary Clinic in jumeirah. If not in rush then book in advance and wait, if in rush then prepare to wait to be seen. She's well worth the wait and deals with everything. There are doctors in her clinic but I personally always end up going back to her. She's cheaper than dr. Shah for sure.

I think your best bet would be healthcare city or near it, we're less than 20 min from Repton (was considering it for my son) and definitely less than 15 min from DIFC, pretty much the center of town. The three bedroom (plus maids room outside in the balcony) apartments here are wonderfully spacious, I really can't say enough about this building and the area!

If your child is staying for lunch as well, my kids favorite is breaded chicken breast nuggets ( made from scratch) or fish fingers made from fresh King fish filets cut into thin stips, dipped in egg then crumbs then fried in healthy sesame oil. With homemade French fries (again in sesame oil). Mac n cheese (homemade also) is also simple and nutritious. Try little minced chicken burger patties cut in shapes with cookie cutters, crumbed and fried or grilled.

Most of us are mothers here, please Don't judge other mothers. My first born cried and had to be carried ALL the time, and he was borderline obese as a baby! So if my back needed a break, that meant he had to sit in stroller and cry for a few minutes, and I hated people judging me and telling me off for that. Yes, it's wrong to ignore a baby if you're just doing it for the heck of it, but no one ever knows what the situation is with another mother. So next time you see a baby crying in stroller, think the best of that mom that you possibly can, because it ain't easy to be a one.

Toyota Sequoia!!!! Less than half the price of other 4x4s, better than all. Fridge, DVD players, I could go on forever. I have 3 kids under 5, a maid, a single quinny push chair, a double tandem push chair , an umbrella always in car for quick school drop offs, backpack, 1 or 2 picnic chairs, mats...and lots of space still! I even set up my porta potty in the middle row when potty training! The 3rd row is comfy even for a tall adult. There's now 4 sequoias in my family!! Or like the car dealership guy said to me when I asked to see the Sequoia, "You want to see the Sequoia? Thats not a car, its a one bedroom apartment!" Its HUGE, and I mean HUGE. I would have loved to have one, but the basic option was a bit to cheap looking for me and frankly, in the top option we couldnt afford it, they didnt have the mid option at the time, but they do now :) I would totally go and see it. Then sell your house and move in :) edited by Purple on 06/03/2013 mmmhh seqouia is a bigger version of the landcruiser doubt it would be half the price. But it is! The full option (my sis just got one) was 204k. Land cruiser full option is nearer to 300 k.

I love the new ones with fridge, DVD, automatic seats, but the best is the fridge, and they're 4 wheel, mines the older model. I think I'll wait a year before indulging in the better version, but still LOVE the car.

Hi does anybody know of a good dentist who is able to do root canals and crowns? Any idea of prices,.... oh, and is it painful?? TIA It might be a better idea NOT to see the same dentist for a root canal and a crown! See an endodontist for your root canal and a prosthodontist for your crown. My endodontist went back to the States so no recommendations there, but Dr. Ali at DentCare in HealthCare City is a Prosthodontist that specialized in crowns, veneers...etc and gives a 10 year warranty on his work. And he is very gentle.

Congrats on your LO. This would be my area of expertise as I now have 3 kids under 5 and I didn't always have help. First thing I'd recommend is you read Gina Fords Contented Little Baby Book. It's awesome for routining and you can always adapt the routine to your needs. Make sure your child is in bed by 7 pm because that will really help you manage everything much better. Gosh there's so much I could tell you! If you're considering nursing exclusively, maybe investing in a good breast pump will help. I stopped expressing a few months ago and unfortunately am running low on milk for my 8month old. You could also consider a crock pot, it's been my life saver since my old maid left as I have food ready at 7am to pack lunch for my daughter, with almost no effort! If you want I could give you my email address for any more details or tips. Good luck and enjoy ur LO. Thank you Ellabella1, will definitely look at reading the book suggested by you. My main concern is if I do get a full time maid, how do you allocate duties and if anyone has gone through and can share their experience. Thank you Bex 1980 - guess that would be the only solution for us too. I've made a weekly schedule for my new maid, it's a list of things I want done and the number of times in a week. For example, vacuuming the tv room, daily, vacuuming the dining area (hardly used) Sunday's and Wednesday's only... But you can always mention that because you have a baby certain things may come up that make ur immediate work priority to cleaning house, such as helping you shower the baby, packing the baby bag for you or joining you on an outing to help you out ( but do excuse her from the house work if you've kept her busy with other tasks). The schedule is for her to know what to do without having you tell her daily, but that she should expect other things and not claim she will only do as the schedule says ( it's happened to me before!)

My MIL stayed with us for 5 weeks about 2 months ago, which was amazing for all of us. The kids loved having her around and listening to her stories of daddy as a young boy, and I lodged watching her cook and then eating it of course :) she was a blessing! So much good comes when we have her visit. With 3 little ones however, I wasn't able to show her around much :(

Global Village carpets in Iran pavillion are anything but dodgy, I promise u! I'm Iranian and have my entire house covered in carpets since hubby's from a famous carpet producing city. The carpets in global village are real and some of them a antiques, which I only wish I could afford! Of course it would help if you go shopping with someone who knows their carpets, because there's always room for bargaining. I also know a shop in baniyas, however need to locate the number. Will post as soon as I've found it.

Thanks very much. Lots to think about! Compared to the horrific costs in the UK for childcare it doesn't seem to be too bad- it's just finding that perfect one. I found our fab one in the UK through word of mouth, so if anyone can recommend a good one that runs through school holidays that would be fab. Thanks for your help I believe Blossom Nursery does.

Anyone have any recommendations on where to get very tasty prepared kebabs and chicken sheesh to BBQ? Having a party and being lazy and just don't feel like marinating and preparing everything myself!! Thanks We usually ask Sadaf Restaurant for marinated meat and special Persian kebab meat for our BBQs, we're happy. We know the owner so I'm not sure if that's something they would do for everyone, but it's definitely worth asking. Call the sheikh stayed road branch.

I taught at Littleland in Al Manara on beah rd and It's the best place. So years later my son did a year f montessori there. By 3.5 he knew the continents, which animals come from where, phonics, reading 3 letter words...not to mention how fabulous the entire staff were. Their key strength is qualified teachers, no nannies, not even for nappy changing, just qualified teachers and we did all the work, and loved every minute of it! They have Montessori and non Montessori classes. I'm also considering it again for my little one in September.

I'm glad my maid decided to leave, because I wouldn't have the heart to ask her to, or the guts! But my kids have become more independent, I have faith in my own abilities as a mother and homemaker. Well. And the kids native language skills have developed greatly since old maid left and have little or no interaction with new maid, whereas before they would only speak English! Downsize if you have to and get part time help, don't decide to be superwoman, it's not worth the physical strain on ur body and sanity. Good luck

I can totally relate. I had never had any maids until 2.5 years ago when I gave birth to my second child, my maid arrived 3 days prior. The first 3 months I was paranoid! I wouldn't leave my child in the same room as her even for a minute! But eventually she proved herrself trustworthy with the house and the children, so I gave her as much leeway as she wanted (I suggested she Skype with her daughter, paid for her daughters education, gave her as many evenings off as she wanted...All because I could trust her with my daughter, and she was the only person there for me through sickness and pregnancy (3rd) my husband worked 24/7. By the end of her 2 years she decided she wants to leave, I panicked! Despite the fact that I was getting frustrated because of her lack of respect for me and her attitude (she would talk back to me and treat me as help). She eventually left after 11 months, I spent 3 months without a maid and 3 kids under5 and in laws... Needless to say I lost most of my baby fat :) it was worth it though. My new maid has excellent manners and is very polite, she is cleaner, and is slowly learning how to cook. However I have decided NoT to let her babysit and try and manage the kids on my own. It's not easy but she's happier with less to do, and I'm happier being a hands on mom. So don't be scared of the change, pray for a better one and things will work out. Callmemaybes advice seems like a good idea too, sometimes its the kind of monotonous work they're doing that is exhausting them, so maybe a change or less to do... Good luck

I think the material used for the crown (lower to top grade) dictates the price. You're right, it does affect and obviously one should choose longer lasting material.
