I am going to write a strong email to this so called manager but really doubt it will have any effect, so i really want to make a formal complaint to the concerned authority. I have a friend who stopped sending her child there too. It's been like 3 days since he stopped going and nobody called yet to ask what is going on. She did not inform the nursery, just stopped taking him.

Why are you mortified, though? The nursery has been a complete disappointment from day one and although there are many many other problems, the main one was the access gate being opened for absolutely anyone without any questions asked. I have seen maintenance and delivery personnel, male and female visitors just getting in and out unchallenged or even asked what they were there for. The other day I went to voice my concern and actually requested to pull DS out of the nursery . There were 3 ladies at that time in the office and the one talking to me was who I thought to be the head. She just listened without interests and kept saying you need to write to my manager , there is nothing I can do about it. So, off I go and ask for the managers email address to send my complaint to.. Today , while in the office I came to know the manager was one of the ladies in the room the other day!!!! So I was pouring my heart out and kept being asked to write to the manager while she was right there listening to us without bothering to interfere at all. I could not believe my ears today when the registra told me: My manager was here the other day , if she would have wanted to talk to you , she would have done so !!! :\: she then continued saying the manager thinks the security is up to "Dubai standards" even though nobody checks who goes in or out. At the end I just gave up and told them : You are unbelievable, you don't care about the children , you only care about our money . She actually replied : I am not allowed to care!!! :\: so yes, I am mortified of giving my hard earned money and leaving my son in the care of such people!

Hi purplerain, We are living at the villa and although i do not know anyone leaving their villas soon , i can recommend the agent we used to find our 2 houses there. Her name is helena and works for landmark. If you need her mobile number please let me know. You can also check the villa community website which is really amazing, full of info! Www.thevilladubai.webs.com By the way how is you DD doing at the nursery? I just saw the thread is no longer there. Thank you Eli - not much change really i have had in-depth conversations with the lady that runs it and also the register which were promising but i think its a case of watching this space........ i would be interested in agents number - you could always leave at play school maybe with your number - leave it for Andrea. Thanks Thanks for that. Will do that on tuesday. My son is attending the same days as your daughter. I drop him around 8:30 so probally we never saw eachother. :)

I [b'>gained almost 40 kg[/b'> with my first one without overeating and only lost 25 so far. I am terrified that this time it will be a similar story and starrting overweight allready it's not a good thing for both baby and I. Best of luck. I dont know enough but I dont think there is anything in commercialised cereal, bread, or other processed carbs which help anyone, pregnant or no. Every single healthy diet and even our friend Atkins give the massive thumbs up for lots of green leafy vegs. Im curious about the massive weight gain as I think its in my future if I fall pregnant. My mum and sisters all blew up when pregnant and yet some other friends have delicate little bumpoids and its so unfair! We are TTC now and my hubby wants me to rest all the time and I know Im getting flabbier and fatter and will have no stamina so would be keen to exercise during pregnancy but not sure if its possible (24/7 morning sickness? risks etc) What advice did you have in the first pregnancy ? I think a big part of the weight gain was due to quitting smoking as soon as i found out to be pregnant. Before that i was kind of suppressing my appetite with coffe and ciggarets and ofc my metabolism slowed down when i suddenly stopped. I also had a huge fibroid which MIGHT have had something to do with it too. Genetics ofc are a huge contribution and there has not been a single woman in my familly that did not gain a minimum of 25 kgs with their pregnancies. My obs Gyn just lost hope in the end as she realised i was putting on weight by breathing only, and she said that some women just gain a lot , nothing to do :((. I did lose 20 kgs within a week of giving birth but ofc struggled with the remaining 20 as i never went back to smoking afterwards. I almost reached my pre pregnancy weight about a year ago but got pregnant again and misscaried at 8 weeks. I gained 10 kgs within those 2 months too!! I must retain a lot of water as i can't explain where is this weight coming from. I am 5 weeks along now and have already put up a kg while being on a diet :) For now , i will increase my fruit and veg intake just to make sure i stay out of ketosis and hopefully this way i will manage to control the weight monster this time round . :):)

thank you everyone for sharing your experience..i guess my worry is the presence of ketones during a low carb diet, as they will still be present at 40- 50 grams of carbs a day. I have googled a bit and it seems the general opinion is to stay out of ketosis during pregnancy but it is hard to do that while low carbing as for me getting out of it it would be at around 60 g which is a LOT of carbs coming from veggies and whole bread and cereals. edited by Eli1979 on 16/08/2012

We are not looking to move untill nov or so .. Will see then how the prices evolve and decide if the move will still be worth it .. Btw, is it true that all the exhaust fans in the villa are on all the times and cannot be switched off??? I would get crazy with that noise around at all times!

We are presently living in a Cordoba in The Villa community which we love, but we started having some thoughts of moving in 2 bed villa in JVT and could really use some advice on this. We are a family of 3 , with DH and 2 years old DS which will be starting nursery in Sept . I don't work anymore , my maid left and I am seriously considering not hiring any anymore . We are building our own house back home and could really use some extra cash to finish it faster. We are at the stage where we are doing the interiors and as you can imagine, the costs are huge. My PRO moving reasons are : - House is huge- 5 bed villa and we only use the kitchen and one single bedroom and bathroom out of all the rooms. We pay 160 k in rent to be using only those 2 rooms and the garden. -I cannot clean it by myself and calling agency maids is as expensive as hiring a live in. I don't want another live in since I do not work and DS will start nursery daily from sept. I think it's a waste of privacy and money, considering the above. - Build quality of this house is horrendous. We have the maintenance team over to fix the AC's and water pumps every week . Landlord is a real estate and they are a nightmare to deal with . - we live on a construction site so moving to JVT will not make too much of a difference from this point of view. - the main reason of a villa is the big garden which I really want for my son to play and for me to relax since I enjoy gardening a lot. I can have this in JVT . - DH will get much closer to work , as his office is in DIP - and the main reason- we would be saving around 70k a month from rent only . This would really help us to finish building our home quicker. my reasons against moving : - The house is spacious and we have low DEWA bills. Worried about Dewa bills at JVT. would not want to spend all that we save from moving on that. - We have made very good friends in the area and DS will be going to the nursery with their DS - Kitchen (cooking area actually ) is so small. We would have to spend around 10- 15 k to extend it somehow as I use it lots and there is no way i could fit everything in there. We would ofc have to find a landlord that will agree to that. What are your thoughts? I am really confused, as we do not really need to move or the money . We could finish the house over time as it was initially planned but I am really being nagged by the feeling of wasting the money on a house that we only use 20% of.

you should really have a look at FREEDOM store in mirdif city center. It's an australian brand I believe and they have nice good quality stuff for ok prices. you can also try Qhome decor and Options (near maktoom bridge where all the furniture shops are , if you know what I mean)

I've not tasted the mint flavor but have tried the original and cinnamon. To be honest I don't find it that bad to drink but after the first few days I decided to mix it with about 100ml of water and down the lot, followed by lots of water of the next few hours. That's what i did today and tbh it is so much better. 500 ml of that stuff was pure torture , so 100 ml even though it is very strong, it is easier to take down. I just drink the remaining 400 ml or more of water straight after. It should work in the same way, right? :)

I have had the same issue with my gardner. He did leave the tap on, but closed it from the spayer thing, which was not enough as the pressure made the hose crack. The water was on for 15 hours or more and we have lost 5000 galons of water . We could check that as our maid was taking the numbers down every day. Total cost was abt 150 aed so not a huge amount. The company wanted to reimburs us but since it was the first time we let it go.

I read about Lean95 on Expatwoman and decided to give it a try. I bought the mint flavor and i cant swallow that thing. It looks greenish and ugly, but i thought the taste wouldnt be that bad, however it worse than i imagined. In addition to that, i felt nauseated for the next few hours.... is this normal? has anybody tried the cinnamon flavor? I have started taking this 2 days ago and I also find it disgusting !! :( so far I have managed to force myself drinking it buy holding my nose and breathing as little as possible while drinking it! I also divide the 500 mls into 4 cups and have 2 spoons of fruit yogurt in between each cup to cover up the yuuky taste. It is getting more difficult every time though...I hope it works! I have the cinnamon flavor. edited by Eli1979 on 24/06/2012

once again I learn being too good with people as usual ends up with me being taken advantage off :( - one is the story of a staff member I hired...but that's story is for another thread - my MAID, most of these maids have dare not done things they have done and asked for at my place - because I give, give and give - have always reminded them not to take advantage - but its been done yet again. I won't go into the story but she has to go right away as she's been negligent with the children, this is inspite of recent discussion and warning. Now I desperately need an agency who will send a maid to baby sit for 4 hours a day, when they are back from school - but it would have to be the same lady and an agency that is good with timings. kids are 10 and 6 and am just looking for someone to be around them while perhaps mopping and cleaning the house. Please help with a reasonably priced agency My maid left a month ago too and I have been using this agency called JPS. They do not have the minimum of 4 hours so I have a maid coming every day for 2 hours. Her English is very good but her cleaning not so much. However, i am keeping them as they only charge 25 aed /hr and i really doubt i am going to get a better service from the more expensive agencies. I do not use her for baby sitting, but a friend had hired a maid from them for an entire month while her maid was on vacation and she was happy .The girl was doing baby sitting and cleaning, ironing, etc. I think they charged her 2600 for a month 8-5 Sun to Fri. Their no is 0553144935.

They did ask me if i wanted safety glass, but that would have taken them a week and since i am travelling on Thursday , I just told them to quote for the normal one. I did not reconfirm if the quote was for normal or safety though...is safety glass much more expensive than the normal one? I was reading some posts in which an EW member has paid 150 for 1 sq m of clear glass so I really did not expect 1200 for my 2 square meters! If anybody knows a cheap glass place, please come forward :) edited by Eli1979 on 01/04/2012

I just rummaged through all of our receipts but can't find the name of the shop. We always enter through the E door on the Hwy 44 side of the building. It's on the main drag and when you go in the E door go left and it's in the F section. The building will start to curve to the right and if you walk straight you'll walk straight into the shop. It sells industrial fans, floor fans, there are some ceiling fans hanging in the shop and DH even bought the industrial rubber door mats there. I hope you find it. Success! i have followed your directions and managed to buy it from DM in the exact shop you told me about. Thanks lots!!. What would i do without EW ?!:)

We got our's at Dragon Mart and they sold us a huge long amount too. Even sold us the silver heat tape to attach it to the vent. It's in a shop by the lighting and window treatments on the main aisle, not tucked back into some corner. It was really easy to find. The shop sold fans, hood vents and we walked in and asked if they had the dryer vent and they had two different sizes. So bring your measurements or take a picture with your phone of the vent it needs to be attached to. funny you mentioned Dragon Mart, as I have been there yesterday looking for something else and have kept an eye open for the dryer hose too but could not see any. I knew I should have asked around but I thought they will not even understand what I am talking about :) Big mistake! I will go there today as I live in The Villa and it's much easier to reach it that Satwa. Thanks again If not, I will deft try whirpool too. Need to find it asap edited by Eli1979 on 30/03/2012

We were just dropping a friend off at the airport and as all the kerbside lanes were full we stopped for less than 5 seconds in the second lane so our friend could run out with his hand luggage. The rudest policeman who spoke no english came over and asked for my husband's license and our car registration. He then wrote a note in Arabic and made my husband sign it although we kept protesting that we could not read it and did not want to sign it. He got mad at us so we signed it and then he told us "khalas". When we asked for the license back he walked away. I was almost in tears and ran after him. I couldn't find him in the crowd but I asked another man to read the note given to us. It said we had to come to Deira Police Station on Sunday. We hope it is just to pay a fine. Has this happened to anyone? If so, how much was the fine and did you get the license back easily. My husband is so mad he's ready to pack his bags and move back to the U.S. I just feel down about how helpless you feel in Dubai in these circumstances. It reminds me how we have no rights here (not that I did not know that already). Oh, I am sure you must have had the bad luck to meet the same police officer I had to deal with 2 years ago in the same spot. I did not even made it on time to stop the car, just slowed down and trying to decide whether to stop there or not and he came to us shouting with the same arrogant, aggressive attitude that you describe. I was 8 month pregnant at that time and all emotional , so I literally bursted into tears which must have done something as he then decided to let us go without a fine . I will NEVER EVER try to stop at the airport again though :) :) edited by Eli1979 on 05/03/2012
