Hi ladies! I had my first child delivered with Dr. Elsa and waiting for the 2nd one. My questions is: has anyone given birth at City with Dr. Elsa after she opened her clinic and much were the costs? Thanks

City Hospital- Dr Elsa. I had epidural, it was great did not feel the contractions at all but I also could not figure it out how hard was I pushing. In the end had emergency C-section (baby was out in 15 min) and no issues after that. Scar healed up great, no pain afterwards, no side effects. The package for C-section is 22,500 AED my insurance covered 20,000 AED, we paid the rest. For normal delivery I think it is 11,500 AED but you can ask them about the maternity packages. Good luck.

Had my baby at City with Dr. Elsa; she is amazing, did a great job with my C-section (about 10 cm scar, healed up quickly and looks great). After care was great, spent 4 days there; I had an epidural (thank God for the person who invented the epidural) as well as I was thinking it will be a natural birth but things changed in minutes; it went very well although I had some back discomfort if I spent a couple of more minutes bending, but now is gone. As for the maternity leave 45 days, in my opinion is not enough and I could not leave my baby with a nanny...nursery at that age was out of the question. Try taking a couple of months unpaid leave.

I had C-section, not my choice but due to the baby's position. I was planning for natural birth but things changed in a matter of minutes. After this experience I can say that it was the best option for me personally: the next day I got up, had a shower, walked little. Four days after I was walking, the scar was/is very small (10 cm) healed up very well. I did have little discomfort in my back, mainly when I was changing the baby's diaper as I was bending (I think this was the result of the epidural), now months after is gone. The only thing that I found difficult while I was trying to push the baby out was that I could not figure it out if I am pushing hard enough...I was thinking I am but the doctor and the midwife were telling me that I am not pushing (again, the epidural...)...Long story short, consider all your options (speak with your doctor) and do what you think is best for you and your baby

no, they don't. They gave me only the disposable panties which gave me a horrible rash...I asked the doctor if any support was allowed and she said no, there is no need for that, so myself did not use a girtle at all (everything went very well, even the rash went away after a couple of days with creams)

We spend around 600- 700 for a week (2 adults& 1 baby), sometimes for 2 weeks; always from Carrefour or Coop (this one for vegetables and fruit); we never buy pre-made meals, chicken-only frozen, meat only fresh (never minced, I prefer to mince it at home), once per week fish- fresh only; diaries only fresh (nothing like those fruity- sweet, youghurt based kind of drinks).

The UK seems to be okay but one from the US arrived in Dubai 24 hours before one from the UK and was delivered 6 hours later than the UK one. Can you please give me the awb number for your both shipments in order to investigate and give you an explanation for this issue? Thank you

RERA will take into consideration exactly what is written in your tenancy agreement, black and white (if you have the line with "major maintenance, bla, bla, bla...and minor bla, bla, bla...that might be little in the "grey area"). Try to get an outside maintenance company and get a full and complete report (so that it shows it is major maintenance), send it to the LL, have copies of your communication with the LL on this issue, write him an official letter on the issue with the report informing you will be taking the matter to RERA, then go there in person with all the papers.

if there is mould, a deep clean might not help; the mould needs to be treated; it usually appears due to humidity (for e.g. if the A/C is working you should not have the windows open, this is what causes the mould). Mould should be major maintenance issue as it is health threatening. Speak again to your LL, tell him you will take this issue to RERA etc, etc ...if he has a maintenance company (like a contract with them, he might be paying only for certain services e.g. annual A/C maintenance- check up and filter cleaning- ). P.S. Did you have your annual A/C service done?

I have a 7 months old and she has this schedule: - morning feed- 180 ml -morning snack (usually after she wakes up from her nap)- few table spoons (2 or 3) of yoghurt, or pureed fruit or yoghurt mixed with fruit or yoghurt mixed with cheese or pureed fruit mixed with multi cereal biscuit - lunch feed- 210 ml (but she is not eating always all of it) - afternoon snack- fruit - afternoon feed- 150 ml - evening meal- 210 ml (again not always completed) When we have dinner she has little food with us like soup or little meat or pureed vegetables In the night she eats 2 times (120 ml each time). I am not giving her egg yet as I was told that I should do that after 10 months (before her vaccine for chickenpox). I am not feeding her anything that has salt. The doctor told me that her main feed should be milk so I am ok with that. But every baby is different, even us as individuals we are different, we don't have the same eating habits and we don't eat the same amount of food :)

Hello, I suggest you do the following: 1. check your tenancy agreement- who is responsible for maintenance (LL or tenant or if you have a limit e.g. amount that is covered by the laldlord) 2. get a report on the problem- the cause, how much it would cause to fix it 3.if your LL is responsible take it to RERA (is your tenancy agreement attested by EJARI?) N.B. Mould is VERY, VERY dangerous

My baby eats 4 bottles a day (180 or 210 ml) and I give her after the morning nap either little yoghurt or pureed fruit (or oats with formula), after the noon nap she has either a multicereal biscuit (altough she plays more with it than she eats it) or I mix it with little formula like a cereal kind of mix. When we have dinner she usually has some vegetables (a few tpoons only) or little chicken (more like 2-3 bites).

I am using Phillips Avent food processor and steamer (2 in 1); it is not very big, it steams the vegetables/fruit which is better than boiling them and once steamed I just flip it up side down and mash/puree them. It is easy to clean, does not take much space from the counter and comes with a guide that tells you how much water and time should be each vegetable or fruit steamed for. Very easy to use

Try to get the governmental health card for the baby from Al Wasl (Latifa) hospital. They will assign you to a clinic that is located in an area where you live and the vaccinations are free. Otherwise, from a private hospital they are quite expansive

same thing with my 6M old baby...she got both her lower teeth at the same time and just when I thought we had a good sleeping and night routine everything changed. She uses during the day a teether and does not complain that much but in the evening it was horrible. I gave her little Calpol (2.5 ml), not sure if it helped but she fell asleep after it. For example now I don't let her sleep in the evening (like after 4 p.m. no nap) so that it is easier (and faster) for her to fall asleep in the evening (around 8 p.m.) but she still wakes up during the night

I gave birth at 40w+ 4d, baby was 3.8 kg, had gestational diabetes, C-section. If you have any doubts on what the doctor is suggesting, I believe it is better to get another opinion before deciding on anything.

Hi Imolinar, I prepare the rice with formula (my baby is 5 months old and formula fed only); I boil the rice (white rice) abt 1.5 spoons in bottled water until it is very soft then I transfer it in the food processor and mix it with formula until it becomes like a puree. I have chosen to boil it first in water because I read that it you prepare it directly with formula you still need to add water to get it properly cooked and this might dilute the nutrients from the formula. She eats about 2 spoons from this puree; I prepare only the quantity for 1 day (she eats abt 2 times from it) and I keep it in the sealed small container in the refrigerator. This is my personal choice, that works very well with her. I try to feed her this rice with milk about an hour after her feed in order for her to have the formula as main meal and to make sure that she gets all the nutrients from it. The 4 hours routine in between the feeds is not "a must", even for us, more like a guide; if she is hungry 3 hours after a feed of course I will feed her. Every baby is different so you will have to come up with a routine that works best for your baby. I tried to introduce banana, apple and carrot to her but she seems not to like them at the moment (except for the carrot that seemed to be somehow ok) but will try again in a couple of weeks. ;)

Hi there, I do the following with my baby: 8-8:30- wake up - nappy change& feed 150 ml+ vit. D 9:30- 10:30, - nap up& little play 11:00 little rice with milk (home made) abt. 1 spoon 12:30 feed - 120- 150 ml 13:00- nap 14:30, 15:00 up little playing on the mat 16:00- feed 150 ml, 16:30 nap for abt. 30 min then spending little time out on the balcony more playing 19:30 bath 20:00 feed 150 ml 21:00 bedtime She does wake up once in the night so I feed her 120 ml and change the nappy; but sometimes she'd eat during the day 120 ml per feed, sometimes she wants more, like 180 ml. Try to reduce the last nap time...

I faced the same problem, very little milk that i had to use the formula and in the end the milk stopped. People (some) can not understand why i amn not BF.... I have been told sooooo many times "if you drink lots of liquids it will come", "if you are patient and keep trying it will work" .... well it did not. I was very upset and unhappy but my baby needed to eat and she is happy, has great weight, no colic and that is what matters to me. The others, they can keep their BF advices for themselves now....i just ignore them and their comments. As long as your baby is healthy and happy and fine that is what matters...and every baby is different and every baby will meet his/her milestones at their own pace. People will always have something to comment.....

Mustela products ( Stelatopia- bath oil, Stelatopia cream for body& face because my baby's skin is dry and has little eczema, etc...). The products are not cheap at all but they are without perfume, colorants and without paraben; and of course no tears, which is great.

I honestly don't agree with the line that says that "Breastfed babies are not the same as formula fed babies". I believe it puts a lot of pressure on moms who can not breastfeed. I mean "can not" meaning it does not work from let's say natural reasons. I am a new mom and could not breastfeed my baby; there was so little milk and I have tried everything (lots of fluids, fenugreek, etc..) and I felt very bad because my baby was hungry and did not have enough milk and especially because I had to give her formula. I had no other option; and my baby is very healthy (I have been asked what am I feeding my baby with), very happy now, we have a strong bond. I agree that every baby has the right to be breastfed, but saying that "Breastfed babies are not the same as formula fed babies" is totally disrespectful towards the mothers who can not breastfeed. Does anyone have any idea how awfull a mother feels when the baby is crying and she can not breastfeed but whishes to?

Hi there, I've had this problem during my pregnancy (did both 1hour and 2 hours glucose tests) and my doctor gave me the following targets for my glucose: 80 mg/dl after fasting 120-130 mg/dl after any meal (test after 1 hour) I had to check my glucose level 4 times a day and also consulted a dietician to help me take care of what i was eating. Basically, if you have this issue you need to give up on sweets, cut down carbs and drink lots and lots of water, and of course exercise. She also told me that when preparing a meal half the plate should be vegetables and the other half carbs and protein (1/4 of the plate each). I was also not allowed to have any fruit juice, not even the fresh made one, had to be very carefull with fruit in general.

@ fullofdreams- I suggest you stop thinking at the labour itself too much; you will be fine, just think that you will soon see your baby and you will be able to hold him/her in your arms. I was terrified that I will not be able to manage the pain, the labour, etc. but at the hospital the doctor, the midwife, the nurses were very supportive and now I can say that birth was nothing from what I imagined ;)

Hello there, I delivered at City Hospital abt. 2 months back and it was great. Everything exceeded my expectations. I went in for normal delivery but the baby had other plans so I had an emergency C-section. Did not feel any pain, the next day I got out from bed and had a shower, the scar healed up quickly and very nice. They allowed my husband to be in the delivery room while doing the C section and they gave me the baby right away (tjey just cleaned her little) and we were allowed to spend time together skin to skin. In fact we were both taken together to the room. I had my baby with me the whole time in the room. We had visits from the neonatologist, pediatrician, etc. I had problems with breasfeeding (very little milk) but they provided top up formula for the baby. The nurses gave her bath, showed me how to swaddle, how to breastfeed, etc... They gave her some vaccines (vit. K and some others, but asked me first if that was ok with me). My experience there was wonderful so based on that I would recomend this hospital to anyone. Good Luck!!

Hi, You need to consider first where would you like to have your baby/delivery: in a private hospital or in a public one. The packages theyhave offer differ very much (from 6,000Aed to 8,000 aed in a public hospital to 15,000 to 25,000 Aed in a private one) the C-Sections are quite expansive especially in the private hospitals. A plus for a private hospital is that you can have a private room just for you and your baby which is great after delivery. There are also the tests that you will have to take during pregnancy, that can be covered by the insurance. I gave birth in a private hospital and was great (the doctor, the midwife, the nurses), had emergency C-section and everything went very well. You need also to consider the costs of your monthly visits to the doctor and then in the last month there will be weekly visits, so insurance does help if you can get it.

Hi, Did your doctor tell you why your appointment has been cancelled? In my case it happened once that one of the staff from reception gave me one date for my appointment and in the system was a different one and i was around 30 weeks pregnant; had to go to the hospital for nothing and then come back after a few days. If your appointment has been cancelled due to the doctor being away check which doctor is handling your doctor's patients and try to get an appointment.

Dr. Yuliya delivers at Medcare Hospital. Got a message from Cooper Health Clinic that she joined only at the end of July....I went for my first pregnancy appointment at 6 weeks...I suggest you try several hospitals and see where you can get the nearest date for the appointment in order to make sure that everything is ok and then go with the one you like.
