Thanks Claire, I normally turn off to Desert Leaf and thought if ucarried on straight it took you down to the building site where there are high rises going up. Will find out in the morning, just wondered if once on the Al Barari road you needed to turn off into one of the areas....

Im thinking of buying a horse here in Dubai, but as I still do a fair bit of travelling Im a bit concerned about the times Im away... Would I be mad to think there would be someone out there who was a good rider (the horse Im looking at is not a beginner type horse) and would be interested in riding on the days that I wouldnt be able to? :D :) You have mail <em>edited by emlsnre on 27/04/2012</em>

Got dh one for xmas... He loves it, and some of the footage especially on an Abu Dhabi run is hilarious! Very funny clips from tantrum alley ride at Wild Wadi, the screaming then was priceless... I think I paid 1500dhs from Beyond The Beach... <em>edited by emlsnre on 25/04/2012</em>

We use national pest control and they say at least 4 hours before you can come in to open doors and windows. We have dogs and they say to keep them out of the garden for 24hours as they are fairly small. Why don't you ask which chemicals they are using, you will then be able to do a bit of reading and give yourself peace of mind. I return after 6 hours and there isn't too much smell. Not sure, but we havent seen ants or anything else for almost 5 months. They are just making a come back... <em>edited by emlsnre on 23/04/2012</em>

Absolutely, do not respond anymore. We went through the same thing last year. He needed the house back as he had nowhere to live, when RERA put him straight he tried the I need to sell, he then finally got the message that he was not going to bully us out. RERA are very helpful and supportive, take all your comms and go talk with them, if nothing else it will stop the upset. Some people sadly think they are so smart, but luckily others are able to see through the smarm.

Have used both services, and are useful especially as others say for older people or adults travelling with kids. I did find Ahlan to be better though..

Just politely tell them in writing that you appreciate his help, but you will let them know next month what you wish to do. If they want you to leave then they have to give you 12 months notice from the end of your current contract.

Hi Yes Desert Ranch, not Desert Palm. It is owned by Jebel Ali Hotels I think. I am interested in a hack out, depending how fast your planning on going.... Had a riding accident a number of years ago, so havent done much since, back is a bit weak... But happy with a canter...

I have ridden at desert ranch a couple of times ... I haven't ridden at K2 yet, just visited ... What is interesting with K2 is that they have these indoor menages which although no ac, might be more bearable temperature wise than outdoors as the weather heats up. He is having roof fans installed shortly. Location is better too for my riding companions. I am getting together an adult group lesson for 7 on Tuesday night, so will report back after. Great, look forward to hearing back.

The Dubai Ladies Club has reallly good rates nowadays and offers several different packages. The only downside is that you can't bring your husband in. Sometimes that's not a downside ;) You beat me to it :)

Bringing schools into alignment with their holidays is a great idea, although i think going back on the 9th to late. I also want to know about half terms? Are these still going to be allowed? Otherwise we are looking at 14/16 week terms which is far far too long without a break for teachers and kids. Has anyone actually counted up the number of days attended yet for next year? I was looking at this also, the last term will be a killer for all involved..

My folks are in southern India, trying to contact them to make sure they are aware... Praying this doesn't happen again in our lifetime.. Managed to speak to them? Nope, mobile off and problems connecting with landline!! They were in Phuket in 2004 when it was hit so they know what to do just hope they are aware. It took nearly a week to find them then, awful. But it is looking hopeful that this won't amount to anything... God willing.

Thank you. Cymraes that sounds ok. Emlsnre how do you know if the pool got a leak? We are going to view some villas in the weekend, if any of the agents will come back to us...so we know what to look for. As Cymraes says, they all have the same problem. I think their is a journalist trying to raise the issue.. It can be a nightmare getting them repaired.... The agent will tell you whatever they think you want to hear, once the money is paid likelihood the LL wont be interested, and yes the pool company who installed them is meant to repair them, but basically the staff are just cowboys, unskilled and no clue... This then turns into prople have numerous attempts before the problems are fixed... Who pays the price.... Well it wont be the LL.... Unless you get something in the contract and maybe reduce rent until pool is fixed.. But living here is nice..

I would be intrested to know if it has changed. I worked in guildford for years and met my husband there great memeries remember how good a centre it was. Went back 2 years ago and it seemed so small old with hardly any shops. I guess we get to used to the big posh shopping mall here. However do miss the lovely cobbled streets and fresh air and the late night Christmas shopping. Agree, I couldnt believe how the Friary was just... Well basically a shell of what it used to be. Sad :( hope its improved When did it open? I remember there used to be a c&a lol, but not sure I remember it opening. It was a long time ago, but think it was 1980 or very early 80's

We have an HSBC advance offshore account. The minimum balance is Gbp 25,000. They gave us 3 months grace to build up this balance. If you do not maintain the minimum balance it simply means that you have to pay GBP15 a month as an underfunding fee. The minimum balance for the hsbc premier account is GBP60k. Ah OK thats what I am thinking of...
