If I asked our dd if she would like a drink I know I will either get a No Thankyou, or a Yes Please response. It comes naturally to her, so much so that when I asked another child the same question and I just got a No, she picked them up on it and said No Thankyou. Very sad for a teacher to make such a comment to an audience, it would have been much better to praise the child for such politeness and manner.....

We don't have a child at GWA, but looked at it. Have to say we were very imlressed with the facilities and the Administration from the outside at least appeared to be very efficient. With regards to Mamasrock point 1 for Negatives, would just like to add that GWA is not alone in this. From what I hear Secondary Ed has a bit of catching up to do across the majority of schools here. Good Luck with whichever choice you make...

As others have said, I think if you are good you will do very well. Especially if you are going to tutor at clients home rather than them come to you. I know of somebody looking for a math tutor now for a Yr 2 student. Post some contact details if you are interested.

Tha Palace does a nice breakfast and still cool enough to sit out on the terrace and enjoy coffee afterwards, I believe there are vouchers in FD too...:)

Used Marhaba for FIL and MIL a month ago, they said they were very well looked after. Marhaba called me to say they had them and where they had taken them to until I got there. Even brought them out to where I had parked as was unable to get a space... We were happy.

Oh dear, i think you may have been a bit unlucky. However, while ours isn't falling down the build quality and finish is well, not quite what we are used to at home. I thhink alot of the owners just didn't bother to snag, they just took ownership expecting to rent out. We have lived here just over 18 months, and in general happy here. The spaces are great, kids have outside space, rents are good although have noticed prices seem to be significantly higher on Dubizzle recently, which is surprising as there are still no facilities here. There is an exit off Emirates Road and another off the Al Ain. Skycourts has just opened a supermarket which is a five min drive.

We had an interim guardianship prepared here by James Berry solicitors, the cost was 1000 dirhams in case something happened which resulted in both of us dying. Depending on what, where etc monies and assets are will depend on what advice you will receive as to a Will. The solicitor here looked at our UK will and guardianship and advised that we did not need to make any other arrangment other than the interim guardianship.

We tried the natural route but unfortunately didn't work for us, tried the creams and gel but no good. In the got a Scholl wart and Verruca freeze spray, and out they came and have not returned (fingers crossed).

We live at the Vila too, for space you can't get better value. The only negative for us now is the lack of facilities. But we have children, so if the convenience of a pool, tennis courts etc aren't important then the Villa is a great place. As Cymraes says they have pools in the Mazayas, but having heard about the problems we decided to stay clear of them. There is a company who is tryimg to fix them, but it is the stress that goes with that.. Have just looked at some villas in Jumeirah that have pools, tennis courts, but theyare pretty grotty inside for the money.

My understandin, but this was from april this year was that all terms and price remained the same, so if you paid in 4 cheques then this would remain the same for the second renewal. However, somebody posted on here a few weeks ago that the two year rule no longer applied and that LL's could now ask for an increase so long as it was in line with RERAs rent calculator.... But don't know for sure I'm afraid.

We went to Beachcombers. Had a table on the beach, so great for the kids. The food was nothing spectacular and in parts a little disappointing. Would probably go again while dd is young as it has the space for the kids to run around and have fun. Santa and his helpers came and delivered gifts to the kids. Despite the food being just OK, the atmosphere was great, we had a good ole christmas carol sing along with other diners and by the end the kids were exhausted.:)

I was going to make an apricot brandy slush punch.... However, I cannot find any frozen orange concentrate anywhere. So I have frozen lemonade concentrate and various tipples.... Do any of you ladies have any recipes for a punch that uses the frozen lemonade that you can recommend... :)

Thanks for that info. Where did you buy the Yamaha? I've decided I'd better do a bit more research before I buy one. I tend it be a bit of an impulse shopper, if I see what looks like a bargain I usually buy it:) Sorry, just seen post. We were going to get the YDP141, but found out it was just discontinued and the YDP135 replaces it. So rather than buy the 141 they had we waited a few days for him to get the 135 in. Speaking as a choc fiend, I'd prefer the godiva as they will keep for a while. I know they have quite a short expiry date but it'll be longer than the log. It'll also be easier for her to stash the chocs whereas she'll feel obliged to cut and share the log:) Second that..... It woukd be a lovely gesture.... However, if you were coming to mine I'd rather the Godiva's so I can subtly forget about them until everyone had left..... I know, I know...... Sharing is caring....

We have just got a Yamaha 135 digital piano for 4500. Decided to go for the Yamaha just in case little missy changes her mind in a few months time and we need to sell. It looks as though Yamaha have a better resale value and are more sought after.

Our UK solicitor drew one up for, got the POA to sign and witnessed, filed with solicitors... Easy to do. Sorry I thought you meant to have handled in the UK.. I think it was last week somebody posted a scrummy recipe for a salmon type oate, must find it as definitely going to try it... May have been Simpleasabc if not I am sure she will remember... ETA: courtesy of lal1 A good quality pate and melba toast. I know your Dh doesnt like smoked salmon, how is he about normal salmon. I make a salmon pate to die for! Poach the salmon fillets in white wine or veg stock if you need no alcoholic version. Allow to cool and flake, blend unsalted butter, double cream and the flaked salmon, reduce the wine stock till only about 2 spoonfuls and add to the mix. pour into individual ramakins or one large serving dish and cool in fridge till set. We are in the Ranches and we go the way in front of Dubai Mall. Go past Dubai mall on your left and go south on SZR towards Abu Dhabi but stay in the far right lane. You will pass Safestway on your right hand side and right as you go under the Metro bridge that goes over SZR there is an exit. Turn right and loop back at that exit and you'll drive back up to Safestway. You can either park underneath in the basement or go left at the building and drive to the main parking lot on the backside. They are remodeling the building so it no longer says Safestway outside but it's still really easy to find. Thankyou.. Managed to get the lemonade at Spinneys but need to get frkzen orange concentrate so think I will need to have a go at getting there..... Only ever been on SZR once, and that was enough to be honest...

Love the creek side of Dubai, you can hire a little Abra for 50dirham for 30mins privately to run you up the creek. Have purchased a few items of gold from the souk, that have been fine. Just check the spot price for gold before you go, then you know how much you should be paying, give a few %. Last time we went they would not negotiate and all shops had fixed the price, not sure if this had anything to do with a cruise ship that was in and the number of tourists in the souk. Have also purchased diamonds from G&D park and again very happy with them. Alot of them have shops in both anyway, just be comfortable with what you are paying for, and having a lovely day...:)
