I do find that things that would come naturally to us like MANNERS and helping pregnant ladies does not figure in these peoples heads. Not a personal thing I don't think, it's just like the numerous times I have held the door open for someone and they don't say a word! Keep your chin up!;) Was just about to write the same, I hold a door for somebody and they strut through without so much as a nod.... Plain rude!!

MrsMopp just been reading the same minutes.... The replies are so predictable. Very interesting about the comments regarding parent disrespect, wonder where that has come from. Born from frustration no doubt. Am hearing of people increasingly becoming concerned about their childrens future here, such a shame.

Thats crazy.. I know of a school not mentioning it obviously that had kids outside at 2:30 to play rounders. Kids were like berries and complaining of headaches... It's not rocket science surely.

I can't really talk from experience, but have heard good things from Bistro Madeleine at tbe Intercon DFC. I love the pancakes in Shakespeares.... Also, I heard the Royal Mirage do a nice breakfast but not tried it myself.... Come on Claire our fountain of knowledge.....

Hi SB, our little madam had an accident which required a plastic surgeon a few weeks ago, different to what you require but once again we used City and were very happy. I know a paediatric dr there who we have seen in ER before she is lovely and the nursing staff have all been very good too.

We were told by a dr here that if involved ina trauma such as rta then ambulance team from Rashid would attend. But call outs for other ? Emergencies, we would if able be safer trying to get in car and make our own way to a hospital. Slightly worrying. Have no experience of ambulances or Rashid, but have on two occassions needed to get dd to an emergency room and on both occassions have headed straignt for City, where the care has been brilliant.

Or if you don't have/need to work, give up until your child is old enough not to need you at home. Afterschool stuff is just not that readily available, and those that are only seem to be for about an hour after school, which still doesn't help working parents.

My dd has skated down at Ak Nasr, it is quite an old rink, but perfectly good enough. Coaches all look like they mean business and the kids I have seen skate there look very talented.

Luckily the whole family just clicked when we landed. Don't worry about how others like to look or live their lives, just be comfortable and confident with yourself. I love doing the school run and seeing all the different styles, pyjamas, chanel, and then my fav jeans and T shirt..... Just a note, the vet in question was the Vet Hospital at Nad Al Sheba. They should now be able to explain it more clearly, rather than just a blanket statement of it has to be done annually. They confirmed with the DEFRA sites that the NOBIVAC vaccine (the three year one) is acceptable. Good luck and please do let us all know how it goes.

Ours are the same. Vaccinated in Apr 2010 in UK, vacc card and passport both state valid unti 2013. Vet here told me in June that it had expired and I needed to have blood test done again if I wanted to be able to export them. So we went through at length that the passport was valid for 3 years and it wasn't necessary to have the rabies shot annually for the purpose of export. Initially he was certain I did. So I followed up with Municipality and DEFRA. And I now understand that if I wanted to leave the UAE to UK with them it would be OK. But that in order to get the Municipality Licence which is required by law here, they need an annual vaccination even though they are already vaccinated for 3 years. Bit of a money spinner I think. Both DEFRA and Municipality vet have said that if passport shows valid vaccination and I have the RNATT certificate then there is no issue, I went back to vet to show them and they have since back tracked and agree that should we wish to export then our papers are all in order.

But there is a page in the passport which shows the UK vaccine is valid until 2013? Ithink it will be OK if there is, but like yourself our lads are family and in your position I would get the vaccines again just to be 100%! The slightest chance of them not being allowed to exit with me wouldn't bear thinking about.

So long as you still have the RNATT test certificate also I think pooch will be just fine.... You haven't messed up its just one of those areas that should be black or white but has somehow got a bit grey.

Hi Jane We have just been told this too. our lads passports are good for three years for the rabies, but vet said had to be every year. So I contacted DEFRA they say they are only interested in what tne passport says. So I contacted the vet again and Municipality to make sure. The vet back tracked and said it was OK but needed yealy here in order to get the Municipality licence, Municipality agreed. So theoretically you should be OK. But I would be really keen to here how you get on today. If you need anyone this side if you are also leaving today to do anything should there be a problem please let me know. Will you post later and let us know how it went?

Hi Lynn66 We took Claires advice and quoted our rights as per UAE Law to the Landlord and although he tried his best he did conceed and renewed at same rent and terms as the previous year. He went from saying he needed to move in to he had to sell etc..... But RERA gave us advice and we stood our ground. As the contract end date was getting closer and closer we were worried he may just turn up on the day and boot us out but RERA advised even if we did nothing our contract as it was renewable would automatically start as per last year and would not expire as it was not non renewable. So deep breath, be confident in your rights remain calm with LL and am sure you will get it resolved. Good Luck....

Did the Atlantis one, which was lovely and quite easily shared by two people. More touristy setting than the likes of royal mirage. I felt it was good value and if your guests haven't seen Atlantis the a good way to kill 2 birds with 1 stone...
