We're heading to Fujeirah for two nights of camping, dogs and all! Its just over 2hrs out of Dubai, but so worth it !!! Its beautiful ! Hi Stazzer, i would be really interested to hear how you get on with dogs. We are thinking of camping after summer, but are not too sure about taking the dogs. If you go to Fuj do you need to take their paperwork etc for the border? Are they allowed across and back in again without any problems? Are dogs allowed on the beaches there etc. Would love to take them but worried about being stopped and having them taken away.... Hope you have a great time and look forward to hearing all about it.

Really sorry to hear of your loss..... Within the last eight months I have lost three friends, all very early 40's. None of them knew the other, 1 like your friend died in a car accident and leaves behind a 14 year old, another died of cance and left 2 junior age kids, and a very old school friend who hadn't found life too easy died of kidney failure. At times it does make you think WTF, and what is the point. However, it is also at these sad times that you see how many lives these people touched. And that is the point, it is amazing without realising how much people do care and pull together. Be strong, breathe, and hold dear your memories xx

If we had been offered 27k to come here but had to pay for schooling, housing out of that then we would absolutely have stayed put. But if they are paying 27k and then housing and schooling on top of this then you would be ok. Asothers have said NZ is beautiful, Dubai is great but you need some spends to make it work for a family.

Not sure which one emlsnre is referring to? There are 2 camps at Repton, one is a sports camp and the other is run by Imagine Education. Matt at Imagine is running camp next week, give him a call 055 369 5642. It's 8.30-1pm, they working with Apple Mac, so making their own movies, editing, adding music, sound effects and then burning their own movie to disc. They also do Art, some days drama and each day they always do some ball games or fun sporting games. There is a theme for the week which kids love as all the activites tie together. Ages range from 4-14. (my child has been these holidays) edited by TimTam on 04/08/2011 Yes sorry to clarify, the sports one.

We used James Berry to draw up an interim guardianship document, this ensures the kids are looked after by our nominated guardian rather than polide custody etc, until such time the permanent guardian can arrive here.

To be honest even if you did get them out the likelihood is they wouldnt be able to fix your problem anyway. The ones that have been to us are at best just handymen and not particularly good ones. Good to know JF will work without contract.....

I definitely prefer the Villa. There is a much better feeling of space and layout than FC. Also, I would think you would get more noise from Emirates Road being at FC. Love the villa, layouts are great, rent is very good, DEWA not crippling. Never paid more than 2200. DSO villas are very well built and finished, but again for us it felt too on top of everyone else.

When I got mine done, down by G&D park, I first went into this like portacabin where the typing was done I then had an eye test in there too, then walked over to the main building to get the actual licence. We went a few weeks ago with a 7, 6 and 4 year old. They were very bored, but food was good. The seating was too cramped very difficult getting out from table. Not enough air movement made it very uncomfortable and the music was so loud couldnt hear what others at the table were saying.

There are so many different types of houses so I think the range will quite wide, but would have thought you would be looking at bottom end for something OK from around £1500 to £3000. When you say public school do yu mean state run? There will be some good ones and some not so hot, will depend on catchment. Cant comment on the rest, not lived in London, but have friends all moved out of central london down to Winchester once the kids hit school age. Am sure you will get a more detailed response from somebody soon.

They are nothing but a nuisance. Repeatedly now they have taken funds against our credit card, we ring to ask them why and all they say is it hasnt gone against your account and cant/wont tell what or where the payment has been set against. All for it so long as the schools have teaching staff trained to teach such kids, not just add an untrained shadow... Shadows dont always have the respect of the children and this then detracts teaching time from the rest of the class. <em>edited by emlsnre on 18/07/2011</em>

I am really new to this but I went to Satwa last month and asked a taylor to copy a dress and he said it would take at least 6 weeks (it was only a simple cotton shift dress). So I did not go ahead with it. Can you tell me how long you waited to have your dresses made? Thanks so much. Usually 2 weeks.

I know they sell in Candelite stores, but not sure if there is one in MOE. There was a little stand on the top floor that sold camel chocolate but it was last year and I am hopeless in MOE so wouldnt be able to guide you to where it was... Sorry, not much help at all...

Personally having visited PP's I couldnt leave our lads there. Agreed staff seem to really love the dogs, but i didn't think the boarding kennels were that great. Space wise they were ok, but very basic made, and if i knew tht my dogs were being taken out for kids to pick up and hug I wouldnt be too pleased. Especially not great for a nervous type, alot of barking, constantly...

You should be able to put car seat on without being charged extra. As for anymore, when i flew back last year I was 15 kilos over between me and dd. Braced for the How Much??, she asked me if I was resident in Dubai, I said yes, she looked for visa in passport and put it all through with o extra charge... So not sure if I just got lucky..

I am certain i read putting them in the freezer would dry them out, and then to soften them you put them in a bowl of water.... I am sure one of the more knowledgable EW's will know and post later... i don't think I would oven them though..

So I have just called RERA. They are saying that even if we renew our contract in a few weeks time the LL can always terminate the contract with a 3 months notice, he doesn't need to wait until the contract ends after 1 year. The problem we could face then is getting our rent back as we have to pay 1 cheque upfront. So if he finds a buyer in the middle of our contract we need to make sure, that we are get back the money for the rest of our lease. I am really surprised you have been told this. We went through a similar thing in May and RERA told LL and us quite categorically that if he wanted us to leave the property for any reason that wasnt our doing he had to give us 12 months notice...

i have a dog and have been given so many different answers by so many different places, Does my dog need a rabbies vaccination now before i take him to Dubai?? Or can i just have it done in 5 years time ish before we move back to the UK?? many thanks in advance If you are coming from UK to Dubai, then yes your dog needs to be vaccinated. You will need the shot, then wait 30 days to do blood test, if that is clear then you can export, but not return with dog for 6 montns to the UK. That is changing next year though. Once in Dubai you are required to register the dog with municipality, in order to get the tag they require an annual rabies shot, so even though your UK will probably be valid for 3 years, they still require you to have it done annually here. 90 days notice by either side, unless specifically noted in contract, but even then RERA likely to go with 90 day rule. First check to see if anywhere in your contract it states non renewable, if it doesnt then your LL has to give you 12 months notice from the start of your new contract, regardless of whether he wants to sell it or not.

Ladies This info is most helpful as I've been wondering about re-entry to the UK. Have been concerned that my dog has been over vaccinated - her Rabies Book shows she is covered till 2013 but Al Safa said she needed a booster now ( this was middle of june). Does anyone knows if this would be right? This is very confusing. Our lads are also vaccinated from uk until 2012. However the vet here said that because they had not been vaccinated within the year the whole process would need to be done again. This is not the case. However, uae requires rabies vaccination annually to comply with municipality, so you will need to have it done to get your tag. But you do not require it to exit from dubai to uk. I was very concerned, so contacted dkc, and the municipality, defra and also asked the vets to reconfirm. I was given the wrong advice from the first visit so dont panic. I like to think it was a genuine error and not just another way to get more money out of us......
