Second Sunlight too... DD always spilling tomato based food down white clothes. So long as I wash on a cold cycle, I can then hang in sun and it vanishes.... edited to say that is the clothes I wash cold and hang not the DD :) <em>edited by emlsnre on 16/02/2011</em>

Well fortunately I was spared months/year of agonising attacks. Mine erupted 2am one morning, thought I was having a heart attack! Taken in, and out it came. No sign of stones just a badly diseased GB. I stayed in a few days more than necessary but that was due to a heart complaint aggravated by the sleepy medicine... other than that recovery was fairly quick and you can hardly see the scars unless you know they are there... Technology is amazing, so I would fret not.....

yeah, we've been trying a combo of voltaren, panadol and nuerophen....nothing at all touches this thing. Twice a month am completely debilitated... will check with gp about the rizatriptan, cheers emlsnre. Hope it works for you, but see what dosage works. They gave me the 5mg one initially and it didn't touch it, so up'd to the 10mg tablet and bingo....

I don't suffer with hormal migraine... but have suffered with migraine since the age of about 6. As a child my dad would often find me zonked out on the bathroom floor following a call to Oz... I have had powders, accupuncture, injections, tabs to go under my tongue, capsules, beta blockers... some working to a degree but nothing that has made any major improvement. Then a GP I saw about 15 years ago recommended I try a tablet from the triptan family. So I now use a 10mg Rizatriptan (Maxalt) tablet. As soon as I feel it coming I take one and it means that I don't have to spend 10hrs in bed in a dark room reaching for a bucket.... Maybe worth a try unless you are hoping to find something out there that puts a stop to them completely. I can only get them on prescription in the UK but you can buy them over the counter here, but probably best you check it out with your GP first. Good Luck..

Took advantage of sitting outside upfront to get a few last rays..... going along quite nicely.... then it started getting a little choppy, then we were very high up on the wave and crashing back down felt like we were hitting side on. Couldn't get back inside and clinging on for dear life. I remember seeing the captain's face through the window, terrified. They couldn't even keep a chain of men together to grab us and pull us in... awful and it felt like forever...

DS is in his 2nd yr at GWA - I'm really happy with the school & his teachers. My neighbours took their 2 boys out of Raffles as she had her own reasons why she didn't want them to attend anymore & they now attend GWA. and I loved the way she was with her handler and him with her... she would look around making sure he was still there, and when he'd come over she would nuzzle into him... Very sweet and really nice to see. I was down there last weekend, and she was there along with a huge bucket of greenery munching away.. Shame the guys further up with the other camel and the 2 ponies don't take note.... not even a bucket of water in sight for them.. I did ask but suddenly not understanding me...:( I have seen the others with water-so don't worry too much-maybe they were still setting up? We saw them there at midday and then on the way back at 4ish.... but I am glad you have seen them being watered, very nice natured little fella's. The little grey one has my DD convinced it is the brother of our pony back home... :)

Had you been told she was well above average in October and then you discovered (not told) that she was now well below average I would be concerned. That is a significant difference and something that should flag to an experienced teacher that something is not quite right.. I am sure in your case as Claire says that there has been a period of adjustment and you will see a difference again next term. I think we do expect alot from our kids today, but we also have to rely on the teaching staff to be on top of the game and to be talking with parents and identifying why specifically they believe a gap has occurred..

Brit Indian certainly looks as though it will hit the mark with me. Never tried them before but just been looking at their website. First place that I have found to do meat samosas rather than vegetable ones! Mmmmmmm! http://www.britbalti.com/home.asp They were good, they are from the UK. The lady who talk our order told me they had shipped all the equipment over from the UK where the dad had run an Indian in Birmingham. Realistic timings for delivery and she was very sincere in asking for honest feedback whether good or bad....

We have opted for our Will done in our home country but it covers our assets here, we will have it translated into Arabic and attested and in that Will we have stated our temporary guardians here in Dubai should the unthinkable happen. What is this talk of a Temporary Guardianship letter? Ours are stated in our Will. Should we also have a letter drawn up? The temporary Guardianship is so that you can decide in the event of the unthinkable who will care for your children until legal guardians from your home country can travel here to care for them. If there is nobody then they are taken into care and can take months to sort out guardianship from home country. We have used Tasleem from JB and very happy. We have guardianship covered in the UK under our Wills, but we were advised to have a Temporary Guardianship document drawn up here to specifically cover here, it details passport numbers and the nitty gritty.... so it is a seperate document to our Will. Thanks! We know about the temp guardianship and we have added our temp guardians here in Dubai in our Will should the unthinkable happen. I just want to know if thats enough, to have it stated in our Will as other have mentioned a specific letter? Have used Dusail a few times with the original owners, who were brilliant. The deal with the vouchers was 225 just before Christmas, but maybe the new guy has upped the cost.

We haven't got a Will here in the UAE. We don't have a property here, but have had two children since moving here, which worries us. I know EW have had a copy of evenings regarding Wills, but been unable to make it. Can anyone recommend a Wills specialist and what sort of price we'd expect to pay? We have used James Berry Lawyers to set up interim guardianship here in UAE. The cost was 1000 aed. So we have guardianship in the UK set up, and also here now. The idea being that the guardian here can look after our child until UK guardians get here.

We have Wills & Guardianship set up in home country to cover whatsoever/wheresoever. This is said to be adequate to protect you here in Dubai, however, we have always then been told very clearly that although this should protect you it is ultimately down to the judge dealing with the matter as to how they want to deal with it. You then end up having to spend forever going through the court to appeal this...

I live here and love it.... and don't feel like I am in the middle of nowhere, just depends what you are used to I guess. It's great as I am in the middle of both ends of town, MCC, Festival City 20 mins and MOE, Madinat area the same.. Motor City for Spinneys or the one about to open at DSO... There will be alot of construction going on, so you will need to pick your phase carefully...

2000 is better than the 10k one school is expecting!!! We never had to pay for re-registering in the UK, of course we paid the initial deposit to hold the place but then we would just roll over into the next year... no monies upfront required, just one term notice if not returning... I would speak to KHDA and see if the school has been given permission to request this, if not tell them they are acting illegally...

worse we had DEWA wise was 2500k in August, since then have had 700, 550, 170, 350... happy to live with that.... I am sure if you are in a big 6 bedder with the A/C on in every room every waking hour it could be quite horrific....

Line as many as you can up with different agents, they will all tell you that the LL will only take this or that. Make the offer and if they so no just move on to the next one.... I know of one LL who has had properties just sat empty because they wouldn't take more than 1 cheque..... they lose out... rather have 450k in my my pocket over a year than nothing...

Mazaya type is A1 = depending on Phase 115k to 125k is what I am hearing people are actually paying. Dubai Properties is Cordoba = Have heard somebody just paid 135k, but think the range is from 135k - 150k. Some come with all appliances.

Why don't you consider staying in OZ and your DH working in Dubai? Loads of parents are doing this and planning to with the education system being so hit and miss in Dubai and the expense of living here. I can school my children in a top uk school for less than i could in Dubai. Really, I thought the UK was still much more expensive than here.... we were paying just over £3k a term for a Reception place.

Sounds like DH has been a little spoilt if he is worried about a 20min commute..... you know anywhere you want to go in Dubai you are going to have to travel... 20mins is a dream... maybe give him a few days for reality to sink in. My DH works in Internet City, but we certainly didn't base our house search around that.... it was around the best school for our DD. So we live at The Villa (which to your DH will probably sound like a different planet to get too)... it takes me 15/20 mins to get DD to school and DH 25/30mins to get to office... trust me it very quickly becomes quite normal. Have you or are you not coming out to check out schools etc before you move? If you are able to I would certainly recommend it...

Tignes or Val Thorens are pretty safe bets that time of year.... have skied in Flaine late March but coming into April I think it is pot luck, higher slopes will be OK but if you are just starting out then guess you'll want some lower runs to start off....

There is parking all along the front where the Dhow's are, or when you get to the roundabout at the end the creek run where the Rulers COurt is there is a car park there, alternatively follow that road around to the left and up and then right down to the museum and there are a few car parks in that area too... lots of stuff for kids going on down there today if you them...

Just got back from the Creek.... as Moscow said hit the 66 down pass WAFI on your right and thru Oud Metha and then take the 79 for Bur Dubai you will see brownish signs for the Bastakiya area..... Lovely down there this morning..
