http://rosacea.emedtv.com/rosacea/rosacea-mite.html Meet Demodex Folliculorum This mite goes by the name of Demodex folliculorum. It is a normal resident in human skin, living in hair follicles, where it dines on cast-off skin cells. These mites have been retrieved from almost every area of human skin, but they seem to prefer the skin on the face. Two recent studies revealed that the mites were significantly more numerous in facial skin samples of people with rosacea than of people without the condition. In addition, the mite population peaked on the skin samples of these people in the spring, when rosacea tends to flare up. Other studies show that people with steroid-induced rosacea also had a higher mite population on their faces. This population dropped when the rosacea subsided after treatment with an ointment that kills mites (see Steroid Rosacea). Does the Mite Cause Rosacea? Although these findings do not prove that the skin mite causes rosacea, they do suggest that Demodex folliculorum might play a role in fostering the disorder. The mites may provoke rosacea by clogging skin follicles, which, in turn, might trigger an inflammatory response. Rosacea may also be triggered by an allergic-like reaction to these skin mites or to the bacteria they harbor. These mites could then multiply excessively or penetrate more deeply into the skin, triggering an inflammatory response in the form of pimples. interesting and i want to scratch now, its made me itchy all over ha ha

Can't help you with Desert Vets, however Nad al sheba vets are fantastic, the vets are amazing, gentle, polite, friendly, knowlegable and the prices are good, especially compared to alot of others. They are also used by the animal welfare organisations here. Bit of a trek to get to but so worth it. ditto this quote they are brilliant - thanks to all who recommended them on this site.

using a phone box down the road, cos we never had a phone until 1981. oxo crisps and spangles. changing the bulb thingy in the back of the tele once a year when it popped and having to get up and actually press buttons or turn the button to change the channels. gas mantles in my grandmothers caravan and no heating. boring boring - sunday dinners and the london paladium or black and white minstrel show. having to walk every where or catch the bus. small supermarkets where everyone knew your name. scrumpy for a penny a pack ( scrumpy was the old and odd bits of batter left in the fryer from the battered fish, they used to sell it off for a penny a big bag) . everything cooked in lard. thinking that my friend across the road was odd and rather exotic because they ate spaghetti bolognese ( this was early 60's). roller skating on 4 wheels. skipping with friends in the street for hours and hours. the pop man calling on a friday. disco dancing.

Shangri-La Muscat: Its a wonderful hotel and the beach is absolutely amazing! But I would only suggest to stay in the Al Husn part of the Shangri-La (if you dont have kids). Its the most beautiful part, with its own separate beach and an amazing pool, also separate. For sightseeing it is a bit far from the main center, but its also on the other side a nice drive. Anantara Island Resort Abu Dhabi: great small hotel, loved it (maybe also because my hubby proposed there on the beach to me :-)) also the safari they offer was impressive, my suggestion do the safari early morning its worth getting up! downside was a bit the food&beverage experience. the rooms are very nice, try to get one on the ground floor with the garden. thanks kitties and everyone who responded, we will do the adult section of the hotel and the anantara resort sounds like a will do too. thanks all, thats my hols sorted out for the beg.may.

i hope all turns out well with your friends and their little one. dedicated to all the friends who just stand by when trouble comes your soul to try, you love the friend who just stands by. perhaps theres nothing they can do - the thing is strictly up to you. for there are troubles all your own, and paths the soul must tread alone. times when love cannot smooth the road nor friendship lift the heavy load, but just to know you have a friend who will stand by until the end, whose sympathy through all endures, whose warm handclasp is always yours. it helps, some way, to pull you through although theres nothing they can do. and so with fervent heart you cry, god bless the friend who just stands by. a lovely poem by b. y. williams

Sue- I think maybe you're right- in Dubai they are very used to being "served" rather than "attended" so to say, people from the M.E/GCC it's totally normal to snap your fiongers (or ring a bell) whereas back home, with a couple of exceptions, on most flights if there was a bell we'd go running to see what was wrong! :) Different attitudes I guess, for different cultures. I don't mind people using the bell (esp if in window seat on a long flight), it's the pressing it incessantly because we don't appear instantly that gets me... as I said, when everyone does the same it can be "heeeelll on earth" (or sky) for everyone because of the noise.... lol it is annoying to be on flights where certain people ding ding the bell incessantly and they do, and i dont blame crew at all for looking frazzled at times, when some are so down right rude and another thing why cant passengers ask for a coke with ice and lemon when ordering a drink and not - can i have a coke, bring me ice, bring me lemon, bring her a coke. its no wonder others are kept waiting. birmingham flights especially have such annoying passengers, demanding and annoying and s@dding rude. i really feel sorry for crew at times and the long haul must be so tiring. try flying british airways any class, awful and first and business their crew are really rude you would think they are paying for your flights. one old woman crew in first actually told me to drink champagne and go to sleep one flight when the ac was off and the lights or tv wouldnt work. i wouldnt use them as a gift any more, i love emirates they are by far the best airline i have ever flown with and i only fly economy. crews by and large have been great. but i still dont get hello tomorrow, ha ha

if you go take antihistamin cream and pills, because if you do get stung it could be pretty painful. i was stung on my back not realising jellyfish were in water in al mamzar and i was in such pain, i was shaking and shocked that it affected my breathing. was rushed to nearby pharmacy who gave me the cream and pills. i was fine after about an hour after taking the pills. the one that stung me was small and its left a scar. dont listen to old wives tales about urinating on it or rubbing sand on it as the life guard told us, they dont work. edited by fairwater on 08/04/2012

it's at the burj park which is the lovely green area right next to the fountains and burj khalifa. at NYE it was complete gridlock but these events are smaller scale and don't tend to cause quite so much chaos. there's underground parking in downtown. http://www.timeoutdubai.com/aroundtown/details/9220 thank you for the map, how do you get there, can you walk from the mall? thanks.

its your wedding, yours and your future husband, if you want help from family or friends then ask, but otherwise if you dont want it, say you are doing the planning and organising yourselves - regardless of anyones profession. its your day not theirs dont be steamrollered into letting others organise it for you if you dont want that. of course speak to your future husband first but dont forget you two are the most important part of this not extended family.

6-8 months in advance? I have to get cracking! Thanks again Saharagypsyrose You are welcome! Yes, DH is now looking to fill 2013...so I need to get my 2012 trips sorted out. But I must admit I am a little behind this year, but almost done with my planning for our July trip. is it safe to drive yourselves as we want to do this too ? many thanks. I think in that 16 days, we clocked about 1500 km. The roads were really nice, the drivers (99%) that we encountered were super considerate on the road. This is the only country I thoroughly enjoyed being the sole driver (I have driven in ~30 countries). Car rental is generally inexpensive and the freedom to do what you want whenever you want is priceless. I hope you ladies will enjoy S.A. as much as we did! many thanks for the response.

Are you staying in Cape Town? We drove along the Garden Route from CT to the Bushman Sands' game reserve (next to Shamwari) - it was fantastic but it's a very long drive and if you're short on time it will be difficult to savour the route it as it deserves! Friends who live in South Africa suggested we could have gone to the Garden Route game reserve as it's much closer to CT. Might be worth Googling it if you're staying in CT anyway? Enjoy. It's a beautiful country. is it safe to drive yourselves as we want to do this too ? many thanks.

have you considered an older building - ghaya residence on sheikh zayed road was fantastic when we lived there for 3 years. great indoor pool you can use all year round and not get sunburnt in summer. great gym with walking/ running track around it plus squash court. theres a tennis court on top of the car park. the apartments are big and light. they have big balconys - ours was really huge but then we had a 3 bed. the prices have come right down and when we were there cleaning twice a week was included in the price. dont go for a 1-3 floor apartment at the back as it overlooks the car park. but ask to see apartments at the back and you overlook the difc and the palace gardens beyond and it reduces the traffic noise too. there is a designated parking space also. its also a minutes walk to the metro outside 21 century building and 5 to emirate towers metro station and its literally minutes to difc there are loads of shops all around the building plus hotles as well as those across the road, which is easy to go across the road via the metro station crossings. why dont you go over and have a look. we didnt like exec towers as its a building site all around it and the issue with roads has been ongoing since we looked two years ago and the lifts were not working properly. good luck in your search.

it can be difficult for some people to speak to friends and family for work colleagues and they may feel a need, a place/people to talk to thats why this forum is so great for people to talk and ask questions and what is silly to one may not be silly to another. our feelings and emotions are valid. as to who talks to strangers, people do when they go to counsellors for help. i am sure people use ew as such, thats why so many people ask emotive questions on this forum. no one forces anyone to read them if they are thought of as rediculous. ps agree with your comments seaoflove. edited by fairwater on 13/02/2012

when we lived in kenya, where i used to pick my kids up from school the local shops used to give away their left over food like bread and fresh milk, to the homeless who used to queue outside the back door - there are many people who are living on the bread line here who could do with that food. its dreadful to see such waste. one of my bug bears is food waste. pret a manger ( uk ) give all their left over food for the day to homeless shelters etc. and make fresh every morning. why cant others do the same.

opposites do attract, i know we have been married 34 years this year. compromise is the answer with opposites. if you both respect each others differences ( and you only really get to know them once you start to go out ) you can work out things that make you both happy, ie going out and staying in. life and love is all about compromises and respect. because you've only ever seen him as a friend why would you think of him in a romantic light before now, if you dont give it a go (and risk possibly losing a friendship) then you wont know if he is the love of your life. but it also works 2 ways, he may get to go out with you and then decide you are not the love of his. BUT remember that life is not a do over we only all get one chance at it. live life in the now not in the when . the very best of luck to you what ever you decide, you have to do it for you.
