Thank you. Will try and get there and see if I can find them. Does anyone know of any other shops in Dubai that sell them? I don't really want to pay the price on the glowskies website if I can help it.

Are you talking about the clinic on road 1 (I think it is) next to the petrol station, almost oppost little Spinneys? If so, I recently saw Dr Johannes van Dijk and thought he was very good. He is South African.

You could try the antiques market in Al Quoz - a couple of blocks behind Times Square. They have heaps of lanterns, but as to their suitability for electric bulbs, I have no idea.

I don't think it's open (but I could be wrong). At the Springs end, they still have the concrete barriers across the road so you can't drive straight across under the overpass (if oyu know what I mean).

Ah, thanks everyone. Will get some Laban and try the alternative too to see which is preferable. ;)

Thanks, so the classes are in those shoes??? I didn't understand that from your first message. I'm just not sure about those shoes and their impact on kids spines etc. Do you have a link to the company who runs these classes that would outline what they do, give class timetables and locations?

I think perhaps using your house for business purposes is illegal here.

Iwill just type away all the things they take on a regular basis! ...pasta, risotto, tuna sadnwiches, hot dogs, meatballs, couscous, ...breaded chicken breasts, steamed broccoli, chicken drumsticks with chips, fish fingers, dried bread with small packs of labneh or cream cheese Hope this helps. Irooni, are your kids at school? Is all this stuff going in a lunch box in their school bag or are they somewhere it can be refridgerated or heated up when ready to eat? I like those ideas, but would be concerned about bacteria growth and causing food poisoning if I was to put them into an insulated lunch box with only a frozen drink to keep them cool. Sue62, how do you stop the tuna sandwich from going soggy? edited by The Fairybread Thief on 09/10/2011

WOw! I think I've just blown a neurone or two trying to process that, Veekay! That would be an awesome rig : o My DH is the techie in our family but given his limited time available to put together a PC, I've now been told we're more likely going to buy a machine off the shelf or have a shop put one together for us. edited by The Fairybread Thief on 07/10/2011

These things don't work though, do they? They are just comfy flip flops? I don't know if they work or not as when I started wearing them I was going hard at the gym so had sore muscles from that anyway, LOL. But I do agree they are the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned. I used to say that about my Birkies, but Fit Flops are definitely more comfortable than them - especially in the heat. I love the choice of style you get in Dubai. In Oz you'd be lucky if they had 5 different types in the shop. Greenish are they still only sold at Athlete's Foot over there? It's probably the Westfield Rents and cost of shipping that make them so expensive. If not, then somebody is getting a bl00dy big margin!

Greenish I was staggered when I came over on my orientation visit and saw how cheap they were here compared to Australia. I had priced a new pair in Australia for aruond $120, over here I bought some in Debenhams for $70.

Not over reacting at all. I would have said something to the maids myself then and there. If I had a child at that centre I'd be livid. Is there an accreditation body in Dubai it can be reported to? Surely these centres have to pass some kind of accreditation to be operative?

Man, just when you think it can't get any worse... I'm really sorry you're going through this. Springs / Meadows girls should plan a meet up so we can support eachother in this craptacular example of building standards. edited by The Fairybread Thief on 04/10/2011

Absolutely - for me anyway. As I said, there's a few little strays but they are very fine and not very dark. It's so nice not to have to plan ahead if you think you might go swimming or whatever. And the time saved getting to the beautician, waiting, getting waxed, getting home is also a bonus. As well as just looking nicer and being "tidy". No complaints about my "Map of Tassie" these days, LOL. I don't know about the quality of the practioners here though. I had mine done in Sydney, but since then the technology has probably improved, I'm sure. There was a horror story here a few months back about a lady who had some lasering of her face for her wedding or something and they burnt it. Can't remember the details now, but I would chose your practitioner here very carefully. It sounds like the one you have found has competently managed your underarms... Can I ask where you've been going to get it done?

I had my bikini line done 11 years ago. It's still fine. Maybe a couple of little strays here or there. I costed it at the time to be about 18 months worth of waxing before I "broke even". Waxing for me was terrible - I would end up in big purple welts that would take 3 weeks' to fade and then I'd be due for a wax again. 11 years' on it has paid for itself and more because of the spontaneity it's given me and the time it's saved me.

She's in Meadows or Springs, I think. Would be interesting to see the stats on where the most building issues are in this emirate.

Article 15 of Law No. 26, states the "landlord shall be committed to hand over the proerty in good condition that enables the tenant to obtain the benefit subject of the tenancy contract." In your case, it sounds like this law has been breached. All these problems have been evident since you took possession of the villa. Go to RERA and take a good swing at that Turkey of a Landlord. We tenants really shouldn't have to put up with this cr4p any longer. Please keep us posted on how it's going.
