Gosh where do I start with this one. Okay, consumers in this down turn period have less to spend, smaller chickens are slaughtered at a younger age, therefore a lighter weight. The average broiler chicken i.e. bred for slaughter and a cheap source of protein has a cycle from chick to slaughter of about 49 days - yup that's it. Slaughtering at a younger, lighter weight mean more birds in the giant warehouses that are used to rear them. It's all down to economics. These are farm warehouse reared birds that are very often given growth hormones etc to make them mature faster. You want a bigger bird? Freerange.

But then on the flipside I could also argue that property owners should not rely on their rental incomes for things, and have contingency plans for things - it cuts both ways. Without knowing the reasons for the tenant wishing to change the payment plan, it is a little unfair to speculate. However, people need to be flexible on both sides. I jsut think this is why many LL's have a bad rep, they are stubborn, inflexible and don't consider their tenants.

Honestly I can't see how a tenant making payments in two or four cheques makes any difference at all. You still get the money at the end of the day. It's all very well to sit there and say this should have been done at this time etc etc - oh if we all had a crystal ball to see what our futures hold. Classic example, my tenant came to the end of his contract and came to me saying he couldn't commit to another year as his job could become unstable - fine, so we have a rolling 3 monthly contract and he just pays me every 3 months - no skin of my nose. I offered for him to pay in as many cheques as he wanted - four seemed to work for him. Some people might be too embarrassed to speak to their landlord about their situation. I had to ask my LL for all my cheques back as I was having bank issues, and I replaced them with cheques from my other bank - no issues. Did he complain? no! There HAS to be give and take. Perhaps if the tenant is having job insecurity or other financial issues, they are worried that if they give 2 cheques, then have to break the contract, the LL won't give them a refund on the rest - perfectly valid concern.

Well maybe your 'friend' needs to be a bit more reasonable? Peoples circumstances change. 1 or 2 cheques is a lot to ask of people, especially when the climate here is becoming very uncertain for many. The tenant might be worried about losing their job, as hundreds of people have been let go recently, or maybe they had an income change and 2 cheques is too much now. Sometimes you have to take a step back and take a look at the reasons why. I own an apartment and rent one. My tenant pays me in 4 cheques, I pay my LL in 4 cheques - no big deal. I don't think the tenant asking for a little help with a better payment plan is a justifiable reason to give them notice.

Make sure it's stamped and signed. I would also put a clause in there, that should the cheque turn up - include the cheque number - that the cash will be returned to you or put in credit towards your future rent. Cheques become invalid 6 months after their date. It's a real shame that you can't put a block on cheques here.

As of February this year Dubai was in debt to the tune of around $140 billion. Some of that is under Dubai World and they invoked a decree to restructure the payments. Abu Dhabi of course helped out, but it's still a massive amount that is owed. People think - naively - that Dubai is made of money, it isn't. Money and loans have been borrowed left, right and centre. I actually had a discussion with someone at a bank recently, who said he didn't blame people for doing runners if they lost their jobs. He flat out said the banks are unfair and all they want is their money.

Many developments ground to a halt - many of them since then have not got back off the ground. Essentially the place became a ghost town overnight. It's not just people in the oil industry that are affected, because you have to remember it has a knock-on effect on every single industry there is.

Once you come in on your entry permits, then they'll actually apply for your visas, for which you have to do the medicals, which for the first time includes a chest x-ray and blood test. You'll need a bazillion passport photos, so get lots of those. The company's PRO should do all the leg work for you.

However, analysts are predicting and upturn in oil prices in Q4 of 2016, due to a limitation on supply, which will push the cost up to around $75 a barrel, as opposed to the $40 is it as the moment. But that's just speculation. As Tallybalt has said both the UAE and Saudi have had deficits from the oil sector and that doesn't bode well. We'll just have to sit tight and see what happens, but certainly lots of people have already been affected. But it HAS to push the rental and buying market down. People are still quite happy to buy property, due to the recent fall in property prices, but the rental market desperately needs to go down as well. Massive over supply on rental properties at the moment and I've seen many landlords being stubborn and would rather have their property sitting empty than rent at a lower price, which is silly.

Redundancies are being made across the board and several major companies and banks have let a couple of hundred staff go 'on the quiet' - mostly middle and upper level staff it has to be noted. I think Q1 2016 you're going to see more obvious signs of another recession. I don't think it'll be as bad as 2008, but it is happening.

I really don't know why all the recommendations on this forum come for expensive, high end salons. All of them charge ridiculous amount of money for same brands and same procedure, that we can get at some smaller salons @ way less price. Why it's always pastels, roots, salon ink, Ted morgen or some other expensive salons? Why not some small salon in Bur Dubai or Satwa or Deira? may be because they can't afford to pay for these smart marketing people who can always recommend them. I am sorry, i refuse to pay 1500 Dhs for 2 hours of treatment. I am getting my hair done for almost 750 Dhs every 6 months, the difference is salon is not very fancy and there is only one person working there...Who does my hair. Exactly. Which is why I was very thankful for the recommendations of Aliza on this forum. She ONLY specialises in straightening treatments and is very good at it. She charged me 600 dhs for a Brazilian Blowout that would have cost over 1,000 dhs in the big salons. She was excellent and I won't be going anywhere else now.

Not sure you'd find anywhere that sells them, because obviously you'd have to have mating frogs for that and then the tadpoles are only in that stage for about 8 weeks before they turn into frogs and then what would you do with all the frogs? I've only ever seen a couple of shops selling frogs. The Dubai Pet Food store in DIP has frogs, so you could ask them.

I should imagine because it depends whether it's just a costume, or has the actual fin insert for swimming. Also the materials used will make a big difference in price, again whether it's just costume or a serious swimming tail with fin. You'll have to do a bit or research to fin out which ones are which and also they can usually be made for a custom fit. Hope that helps.

It's worth noting the massive difference in price from salon to salon. All your big named salons charge from around 1,500 dhs for Kerastraight and other treatments, which is why I started looking about. The smaller, independent salons charge much less.

Jet lagged? Funny, because most of the pilots I know are out on the p*ss all the time - that's why they're flippin' tired. Too much parting - the single ones anyway. Long haul is a drag, but on many flights, they now have heavy crews that rotate during the flight, plus let's face it - autopilot, auto lands etc etc. I know a husband and wife team, both pilots on the A380 fleet, they really are passing planes in the night. Sorry FD we agree on many things but you are way out of line with this one. Unless you are married to a pilot or are a pilot with EK at present you have no idea , " I know a husband and wife team " does not cut it. I read your comment about rotation of heavy crews and autopilot to my DH his comment " ignorance is bliss isn't it "........ Note I was primarily talking about the 'single' guys, not the married ones. Well you know if they don't like it, they can always go to other airlines. Air Arabia pay MORE than Emirates and they only do short haul flights. Everywhere has their ups and downs, sure it's not what it used to be, but sadly there are more pilots than jobs out there right now. Sure lots of them moan and complain, and lots of the perks have now gone, but they're still better off than in many other places. Some people are better at dealing with the long haul and time zones than others. So maybe short haul is better option for those people. There's no question that those on main fleet have a tougher time than the A380 crews, who seems to have much more down time. But with the rate of expansion I don't think that's going to last long either. I am far from ignorant on the subject and probably am more informed than you think. You don't have to be married to a pilot to know things. I know people across the board including those poor folk who have to do their best to keep the crew happy, even though their hands are tied.

Humped and Dumped by a Pilot then! LOL That was a really sh*tty comment to make! Actually my father was a Manager for Emirates for over 10 years!!! I have lots of close pilot friends, so I know well what they get up to. I'm actually married to a military man, if you think pilots have it tough, try not seeing your other half for 3 months at a time and the hellish conditions he has to ut up with, not to mention putting his life on the line. Keep your smutty opinions to yourself and shut the **** up!

recommendations please TIA Beauty Plus Salon in Satwa does all the hair treatments. I went there after reading recommendations on this forum. Could not be more happy with my hair ? I went to Aliza today, she did a Brazilian Blowout on my hair - excellent! She was lovely. She does every straightening treatment going. It's worth noting that most straightening products contain at least a small amount of Formaldehyde - it's the active ingredient that actually straightens the hair. Since Kerastraight reformulated, it does nothing for my hair now and even that still has small amounts.

Some people never find a remedy that completely cures their acid reflux, which in the end can seriously damage the esophagus, cause ulcers and all sorts of other things. You could go the surgical route, where the valve that should prevent the acid coming back up isn't working properly, is fixed. That would resolve the issue once and for all.

Ladies, just please remember that fast weight loss is NOT healthy weight loss. Weight that comes off slowly stays off. 5 kgs a week is not healthy nor sustainable and virtually impossible - anyone that does manage to achieve that, it would most likely be all water weight and not actually fat. Please don't forget that if you are also working out, then you are building muscle - muscle weighs the same as fat, but is more dense and lean, therefore it can seem that you're not actually losing anything. Please do it safely and healthily.

For a 100 people? From any hotel that IS going to get pricey. Put it this way, the majority of hotels offer Christmas dinner that you can pick up yourself and have delivered and they average out at about 1,000 Dhs for a dinner that feeds on average 8-10 people. So do the math, then add on hiring catering staff and I don't think you'd get much change back from 10 - 12,000 dhs. You'd be better off booking to go to a venue and paying per head.

I believe that it is illegal in the UAE for offices to be open on public holidays, and I have heard of random checks being made. You might want to check into that and raise that point with your UK office. IF that were true - which it's not - then nothing would be open. Plus if it's a UK company, then technically they don't actually have to observe the UAE holidays at all, it's a choice, some do, some don't.

Just be aware that these cases are not always cut and dried. This exact thing happened to a friend of mine - they had proof that the LL rented it out to a new tenant with a massive increase in rent. It went back and forth over several months in court, they spent a small fortune.....and LOST. Even though everything could seemingly be in your favour, at the end of the day, it depends who is sitting in the chair, what mood they're in and whether the LL has any wasta. The whole RERA, Rent Committee thing to help tenants is a joke. If that's true then It's appalling that they would go against the law... Having said that this LL wouldn't need a lawyer if he had any real Wasta. And judges would likely abide by the rules if the victim had an arabic lawyer who would stand for them rather than just a western expat clueless of what is being discussed in court... Are you saying my friends were clueless? They had a lawyer! Sadly this happens ALL the time.

Ideally at least two weeks, so that he can thoroughly leave his scent around the new house and know that it's 'home'. You could always put a harness on him and take him outside on that.
