Then you see the likes of people coming into the country claiming all types of allowances for themselves and their families, some of whom were still living abroad, it really makes me wonder what the government is thinking about. They obviously don't care. Makes me wish the UK would adopt the UAE policy of looking after your own first! Something to be said about that. Many countries could learn a lot from how the UAE works.

For me 1 day or 2 days max, this is my first time, and it was easy. That's the Eat.Stop.Eat method - works pretty well as a way to reduce calorie intake.

I've done quite a few juice cleanses, they're ok. I've never got the juice 'buzz' and loads of energy that people talk about, in fact it does the complete opposite to me. Which is why I love blending far more. Plus I do a lot of heavy weight lifting, that just doesn't give me the calories I need to sustain and build muscle strength. Depends what the end goal is. edited by FairyDust on 29/12/2014

Well any decent nutritionist worth their salt, will tell you fruit only juices can and will cause sugar spikes, same as eating too much fruit. Hence, why you have the veggie based juices. I was saying the water fast isn't an ideal way to lose weight. It's fine for a cleanse, but long term, not good.

The problems the UK is facing now are not unique to thevUK alone, as far as being treated like scum its not at all my experience. I am constantly pleasantly surprised how respectfully and kindly I am treated here back home on every level. I come from a large family too and none of my relatives have opted to leave the UK no matter whatever the economic clime has been over the last five decades. What I meant by that was, can't get anything other than a basic bank account! No credit, no mortgage, nothing! Yet 'others' flooding in from Europe seem to get handouts left, right and centre. Everyone I know has found it extremely tough going and many wished they'd never gone back.

Ive just completed one day water cleanse - lost 1.8kgs in one day, bloating reduced - need to fit in my jeans Weds eve! Today IM drinking more water, 1 avocado in 2 halfs, and a yogurt. Hoping to lose another 0.5kgs in the next 24hrs. Then Im on a nutritionally balanced and programmed juice detox - 28 days this time - try it - www.juicemaster.com. Plan on losing another 15kgs by end of Jan..... That's actually not good for you at all. All you're losing is water weight. It's fine for a 'quick fix' but the minute you stop, it'll all pile on again. The juicemaster thing is good and you won't get the sugar problem so long as you stick loads of veg in there to balance it out. I'm hoping you're using their meal plans when you come off the juice. Personally I love my nutribullet and those recipe ideas - much more balanced and you still get the fiber which you lack when you juice. There is no quick fix way to lose weight, but a lifestyle change and it can be really REALLY hard. But it's all 80% diet, 20% exercise.

think you will find a lot of people moving "back". Or moving elsewhere, because let's face it, the UK is a disaster right now. How so? Why is the UK a disaster right now? According to the press the economy is booming? edited by Simpsons on 29/12/2014 The UK has 'gone soft'. Too much immigration, not enough jobs, not enough looking after their own - and that's for starters. Have had so many friends move back and be treated like utter scum, it's ridiculous. And to people who say 'well it's home', when you were born somewhere, but have lived over half your life in other countries and all your close family have relocated elsewhere - where IS home? I don't know where home is? I'm leaving the UAE next year, but heading elsewhere.

Beebers, from what I remember, the mole mapping was 600 Dhs for the first 10 and 350 for every 10 after that. The biopsies are pretty expensive as you pay for a. having them removed and then b. for the lab work. Luckily because of my diagnosis the insurance covered it all, although I had to fight to get them to pay up for a large chunk as they had a cut off and were being stupid about it. But I won it all back in the end.

These dog ticks are pretty much indestructible, it can take a few goes to get rid of them. They fall off the dog and hide in dark cracks like door frames, skirting boards etc. The poor pooch should have been de-ticked by the organisation before you took him.

How do so many people get this wrong! The photo card is NOT your license! Your actual license is the paper part you got when you passed your test. Your DL is valid for 75 years. It's only the photo ID that expires and has to be renewed every 10 years and when you move back, you simply apply for a new one. If for any reason you've lost your original license - the paper bit - you just request a copy from the DVLA. Why the UK has to be so complicated and allow photo id's to expire I will never know. Most other countries don't.

Oh dear - you just budged me and Careem are fully booked as well. Hmmm trying a normal taxi it is then. There are the Lexus taxis as well. They are usually near hotels and not that busy as normal taxis as they are pricier. I actually have a number of a driver, if you want it I can post it here. edited by Marroosh on 24/12/2014 Oooh that's a great idea. Thank you Maroosh. Is 33 too early to start? Not really. Everyone is different, up to you. No idea on the 2nd question, as it's not your skin they use the botox on, it's the muscles underneath the skin. But what I do gather, is that after a few uses, you 'should' be able to actually reduce the number of times you use it a year. They say Dysport lasts longer - I've had this, but didn't keep it up so who knows lol Dr Jaffer Khan is very good, but his waiting lists can be long.

To be honest it's not a bad thing, especially with regards to water consumption. People ue it like it's going out of fashion, not a precious resource. They seem to forget that they live in the desert when they're watering their driveways to clean them, instead of brushing them, leaving sprinklers on all day in gardens etc. People need to be more aware of their consumption, so it should make people more careful with how they use it.

Thanks for sharing your stories ladies. Beebers, I hope your DH is and fingers crossed that everything is fine. Just to update this thread. I had about 222 moles mapped, another 18 removed, two of those were on the turn to being malignant. So yes, now something that has to be kept a very close eye on with regular checks. So again a reminder, please get regular checks done and if anything changes have it looked at straight away and NEVER be fobbed off - insist something is done. Happiness and health to all;)

http://www.thenational.ae/uae/courts/abu-dhabi-police-reveal-arrest-video-of-reem-island-murder-suspect I find the dubbing of Batman soundtrack onto the footage rather inappropriate though, its a real life tragedy not a movie scene after all. Agreed. The video is crass beyond belief. It's real life not a Tom Cruise movie. I find the entire thing odd, very very odd.

We will be living in Meydan Heights - don't mind driving out into the desert...would be quite nice to get out and explore a bit :-) Any recommendations on where to go? Also...does anyone know if you can let a dog off the lead in Meydan Heights? I don't think you are allowed to let them off in any residential areas of Dubai :-( Correct. In residential areas dogs have to be leashed at all times.

Only really if you get in the car and go to desert areas. Dubai is becoming more and more dog unfriendly, sad to say. It's becoming harder to find decent places to take our furry friends for walks.

But what's the catch? Nothing is free. The pet sitter gets a month free rent as they have a place to live for a month while caring for the animal/s? I guess you could do house swaps, the catch is having to look after the animals. Not sure I'd trust complete strangers with my babies though.

Yes, no matter how nice anywhere is there is still no place like home. feel sad for the one dislike this comment received... how bad must the conditions be back home for this person.. :( Yes, that is sad, perhaps a war torn country? Not necessarily. Bearing in mind how often some families move around, maybe some people don't know where to actually call 'home' as they've never lived anywhere long enough for it to feel like home. I don't know where 'home' is anymore.

For whitening, Dr Michael's dental clinic is good. You can either have it done in one procedure, or have the gum shields made and take the peroxide solutions home to do it over a longer period at home. BUT be aware that this makes your teeth super sensitive. You 100% need a sensitive toothpaste as eating/drinking hot/cold things can be pretty painful during the process.
