2 buses leave Dubai. One service (E100) from Deira and one service (E101) from Ibn Battuta. The E101 usually stops at Shahama and local taxis are waiting there for passengers. Not all E101's stop there. Otherwise they will go straight to AL Wahda Bus Station. The bus costs aed25 each way, and the bus is leather seated and very comfy with free wifi and you are permitted to eat non smelly light snacks. This is a coach and has luggage space.

Does anyone know of any football coach vacancies or sports/PE teacher vacancies for make applicants? Anywhere in the UAE? Preferably for a local football team. My friend has a background also as a sports/PE teacher in Portugal. His football coach experience is Portugal, KSA and Abu Dhabi/UAE. TIA

Thanks sarahlou12, will give them a call. dentro, Im taking your comment with SOH - however, the work I need doing I don't have the tools or equipment for, never-mind the skills, the bits I can fix myself I fix! Otherwise, why would a query about someone to do some repairs and painting result in a downwards thumb? This used to be a really good, useful and friendly site, whats with all the unfriendliness?

Depends on your budget www.meeru.com is 1hr away by boat, so look at the map and that radius and you will be OK. Advice re the boats - if you can afford to pay an extra amount per person (to Meeru it used to $100 per person each way), book a private transfer. Otherwise you may be waiting at the airport for a long time, as you wait for other flights to land - everyone might then be transported on a bigger boat together. I prefer to book the private transfer as I get off the plane and after baggage Im straight on the boat and arrive at the island ASAP! All islands have amazing reefs and great snorkeling but the best I found was at Centara - less than a year old I think so not as lush but the resort is first class. If you want less new, a little older but more traditional then head to Bandos - the best bit about the older islands is that the sand is pure pure soft - the newer islands or the ones who are reclaiming due to erosion, pump the sand from the seabed and the sand is full of sharp coral - so for beach, privacy and traditionalness AND right next to the airport (but far enough away), its Bandos. However, honestly, I used to live there, you cant go wrong on any of them, its mostly down to the people who work there, and Ive rarely met anyone that bad! if youre looking for top notch - Amilafushi or Huvafenfushi. Im so jealous ....... :)

www.meeru.com - has EVERYTHING and more, with All inclusive options too Have a look at Amilafushi too - a new hotel opened up, not sure if its by boat though. Other good ones are Centara (10mins by boat) and Bandos - but not sure if they are all inclusive. You don't really need to go AI unless you are thinking to drink well - most full board options are OK, and the drinks are not as expensive as you think - check the difference between FB and AI and then see if you will drink the difference ;)

My friend is having some issues with her landlord : Her contract expires on 17 March She has been there 2 years already She paid an increase above the RERA rules last year The agent and LL told her no need for Ejari as she does not have dependents Now the AC has been cut off due to a change over in supplier (apparently) The LL says it will take weeks/months to fix We think he is trying to force her to move out so he can move someone else in at a MUCH higher rent and the agent also gets their 5% commission again She is getting advice but does anyone else have similar experiences? Also, as he has not given her any notice and she is the only one in the building now without AC, can she stay in her apartment until this is all resolved or does she really have to move out on the 17th? TIA :)

Ruth Chris's fro sure, or Seafire - call them and ask them to send the menu, I recall over a year ago it was about the same price as Rivington (awful food and terrible service in my opinion) and had better quality of steaks (melts) and the side dishes were reasonably priced too. Maybe see if there are any offers on at Seafire (Atlantis) and ask them to celebrate birthday event :)

I lost 12kgs and kept it off. The juices and smoothies I had contained everything nutritious I needed, the plant based foods do also have proteins and fats (avocado being the most important one). I am fully aware and educated about my food decisions and for me it is healthy. And I will be continuing to juice and smoothie my way through my meals until I reach my goal weight. As I said, its not for everyone, and there are good/bad things about everything method of weight loss, this is a life style choice - me eating plant based foods is far healthier than eating Mcds and other malnourished fast foods. That's just my choice, and it works for me :)

Ive asked around and everyone I speak to agrees with the following (including a law firm) : "The employee is entitled to payment of his wages for his leave if his employment is terminated, or he left his work after the period of notice determined by law. The employee will be entitled to receive wages for the annual leave that he has not taken. Payment will be calculated on the basis of the wages he received at the time when the leave was due."

An update for those who are interested. Ive lost 7.9kgs as of this morning, the last 7 days on juices made at home from raw veg and some raw fruit. Im following a 28 day nutritionally balanced programme. My Dr is impressed and is now reading up, my BP has reduced, my heart rate also, clothes are getting looser, and the daily weekly photos show a vast improvement to my skin, face shape and colour of my eyes - Ive been told I look 10 years younger. FYI, Im not on any processed juices or detox tablets or other fad diets, this is just raw plant based food into juices. I havent been hungry, drank lots of water and taking some walking or gym exercise 3-4 times in a week. Getting lots of fresh air and sunshine walking home during the week to the metro and at weekends. Good luck to those on a new year regime - Im telling myself its not a new year resolution its a new way of life. Its good to be organised to be successful :)

Hi yes - got the RTA bus there - was fab and easy though when we reached there the bus route was a round about way for a short cut. Was there for kick off so was happy. Coming back was mental as there was no organisation of traffic - people were creating extra lanes of traffic from the hard shoulders and sand dunes, most amusing, we sang all the way home and stayed calm. There are some idiot drivers here, mostly selfish people - what ever happened to the one in one out rule ;). Hi scotswhahae - Im still learning Portuguese a little, had a few changes this year so that became less of a priority. I learn one new word every day on an iphone all, great fun. How are you? Still learning too? Happy New Year x

Maybe consider uploading your CV on : bayt.com monstergulf.com naukrigulf.com Also try - emiratesgroupcareers.com and Etihad - they have large IT teams Otherwise, check the jobs www.readme.com (the metro magazine), lots of companies advertise for free here on their jobs section. Also check Gulf News online : gncareers.com It is often who you know but you also need to apply for jobs too. If approaching recruitment agencies, walk into their offices in person, at least talk to the Receptionist and leave a positive impression so you get a call back, as they receive 100s of CVs each day. Good luck

We all have different opinions. As I said juicing is not for everyone, but you havent read or watched enough. And the person who mentioned the company selling kitchen gadgets advising about juice, that made me giggle - have you actually read the websites and did you read about Jason Vale, Joe Cross or Kriss Carr. How about Gerson Therapy. Im thankful I have the knowledge I have, I will use it for me and refrain from sharing again as it seems to upset you all. You stick your Drs and pharmaceuticals and misled FDA sponsored research - I will enjoy the raw foods nature provided :)

I did some research into water cleanses, and decided it was for me - again its not for everyone, but no way is it long term. For me 1 day or 2 days max, this is my first time, and it was easy. Long term the body needs nutrition. Regarding the juices, the recipes over 28 days are mostly vegetable based, and its been scientifically proven to work. Im just sharing options that have worked for me :0

Exactly - if we/me ate all the raw veg and fruits I wouldnt have the need to juice my nutrition ;) Each to their own, juicing is not for everyone, but dont know it till try etc Im just saying it works for me and it changes my life and I know of many 1000s and 1000s of others across the world who follow this too. Check out Kriss Carr's story - http://kriscarr.com Or watch Super Juice Me or Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead (there are many more but these are easy to watch)

Nope - Im studying nutrition and bilology also. First, the sugar in fruit is not the same as white refined toxic sugar. Second, the juices are vegetable based with fruit added. Ive juiced before and Ive seen my mums diabetes 2 readings drop after 7 days on juicing (bearing in mind there are 35 apples alone consumed by her on the first 3 days). The body is nature, fruit and veg is raw nature full of active enzymes, the body knows what to do with something natural and therefore, no there is no spike in sugar levels on any amount of juicing as long as a proper programme is followed (Jason Vale - Juicemaster or Joe Cross or Natural Juice Junkie etc). NOTE : this does not include shop bought juices in cartons or bottles as they are FULL of sugar and are heavily processed/pasteurized with little/no nutritional value (just calories), they WILL Spike your sugar levels)

Can any USA Citizens on here explain simply how the tax system works here in the UAE? I have a friend who has just moved here who is looking for advice and is getting confusing and mixed replies. Basically, I think that all salaries paid into the bank is reported to the US for tax analysis and then the tax for the year is to be paid? What about expenses and bonus paid by cheque and not through the bank, is this included? TIA

journogirl, I feel your pain - I am having issues with one of my cats Ive had for 8yrs, and the only option is to rehome her (If I can) or have her put down. People will judge you and often abuse you, they don't understand that you can be a cat lover, and be going through emotional upset and stress yet know you still have to make a tough decision. Good luck with finding a solution - even the people on the Facebook and Charity groups may give you a hard time, dont take it personally. Do what you need to do xx To everyone who judges and passes opinion, please dont - its hard enough without your unnecessary words. Thanks :)

I was there end of August, fell in love with the place and already booked my flight to go back in May next year (and working on a 3 yr plan to move to Rio too!). Leblon and Ipaneme beach areas are more expensive and have fewer hotels. Copacabana beach area is where you want to be - we stayed in Porto Bay Hotel and it was fabulous (dont pre book your hotel airport transfers, half the price to use the very good airport taxis and on the way back get a last minute hotel taxi as its still cheaper than prebooking!). The only issue was the pool was closed but it may now be open. The breakfast is fantastic!!! Make sure you get a beach view room. Alternatively, we were going to stay at the Pestana Hotel, which I am booking for our last day/evening in May as it has an equally lovely bar/pool/views (same as Porto Bay if the pool was open). Otherwise if you can afford it (and its max 30mins drive to Copacaban Beach), stay at Tuakaza Pesada on the edge of the national park/rainforest. Its somethng very special, personal and all inclusive of breakfast, 24hr snacks, beers and caiparinhas during day/evenings. There is a waterfall pool we didnt get to use as we had bad weather when we were there. You will be like family with a few mins of arriving. Its worth every $! And its not far away at all, it looks like it on the map. We did 4 days here, 4 days in the rainforest and then 1 last night in Rio :). Also, we booked in advance the most amazing tour guide, we spent 3 days with him and now feel like we have a forver friend - Manu Peclat (http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g303506-d1773651-r84521080-Manu_Peclat_Rio_Private_Tour_Guide-Rio_de_Janeiro_State_of_Rio_de_Janeiro.html). He will give you his time and energy and passion of his city. He is great fun, and if you do book him, tell him Paula said Hi from Dubai! he will take you on your own itinerary or take you on one that makes sure you see everything and anything. Its sooo much easier with someone who knows the way, the shortcuts, the off the track gems and can queue jump due to his passes and connections. Wow, now Im really exicted for you but wish I was going there now!!!
