I've seen them in Carrefour MOE as well as Lulu's Al Barsha. At Lulu's, you can get the pre-packaged sets or you can buy individuals plates, bowls, etc as well depending on your requirements.

Thanks for the suggestions. businessbay is right in that the outline shows through the dress rather than it being ill-fitting. I will check out Victoria's Secret and see how I get on. I really don't want an extra padded, extra push-up style but something that is soft and very lightly lined. I'll check out TKD as well although I'm not sure how they will help me pick out a style if they don't have smaller sizes available in store. You'd think with so many lingerie stores in Dubai they'd have at least one with staff with proper fitting knowledge to guide customers.

I have ordered from feelunique and lookfantastic in the past. I ordered a ghd straightener and a steampod in two separate orders so your order will be a similar sized package. Once the package arrived in the UAE (through regular post), it was not delivered to the office address (PO Box) directly but I had to go to the Karama post office to go pick it up. I know that lookfantastic have good customer service and are quite efficient in responding to queries and locating a package if you are worried that it still hasn't been delivered. I only found it a slight hassle to go collect it from the Karama post office and it won't discourage me from ordering from them in the future. edited by fatmuch on 22/08/2014

You're talking about the banana pudding from Magnolia Bakery. It tastes amazing! My sister uses the recipe from their cookbook using the ingredients you have listed below and it turns out identical to the one at the bakery. There is a reason they suggest those ingredients even though the wafers are pricey (even in the US where my sister lives). You could look for them in Safestway but I have never checked myself.

I spotted Thomaston brand cloth laundry bags at the Grand Stores shop at the Outlet Mall. I'm sorry but I don't remember the size but I'm guessing they're the size available in hotel rooms. Maybe you could call ahead and check.

I have only ever seen patterned embossers here in Dubai. You could try Shop and Ship - have your personalised embosser sent to your shop and ship uk or us address and it will be forwarded on and delivered to you by Aramex.

You will definitely not be able to purchase a SodaStream in Dubai owing to it's country of origin. You could also try looking for Mr Butler's soda maker in Lulu Al Barsha - http://www.expatwoman.com/dubai/forum/topic212527-soda-stream--mr-butlers--are-they-the-same-gas-cylinders.aspx

Dubai Library Distributors on Sh Zayed Rd (next to Golf House). They are only open from 930am to 130pm during the day time in Ramadan though.

I have a mini hot glue gun but I think glue dots might be a better option for more delicate crafts. Are they available in Dubai? I've checked the Creative Minds website but they aren't listed (although they might be available in store - will have to call and check I suppose). Any leads appreciated. Thanks!

Hi So if the lease is transferred, the annual rent + annual charges (service + cooling) would come to just over AED 236,000? Or will be it a lower rent as stated on your tenancy contract (assuming rent was lower when you moved in)?

Thanks all. I think I might try the pharmacy first - might try my luck at the big Life on Al Wasl Rd. The oil is probably too thick to spray on and I think the Ikea pump bottles might be too large for the quantity I have/use. Thanks for the idea of mixing two oils. I'll go for that if I don't find the bottles with droppers anywhere.

I have a small bottle of sweet almond oil and I use a few drops to smooth out my hair after washing it. The bottle doesn't come with a dropper so I have been using a small glass dropper (bought from a pharmacy) but it is a pain to clean and store after each use. I can't leave it in the bottle as the lid won't close then. Does anyone know where to buy small glass bottles with lids with attached glass droppers? It would really simplify things! Thanks.

Sofa started swaying side to side as I was sitting on it, saw the TV shake on its stand and my plants were shaking as well. It lasted a couple of seconds. I am on a mid-level floor in a high rise in the Marina. Eeek!

Friends who've seen it abroad said it was hilarious but had enough scenes to warrant the R rating - just made me wonder what the censors would make of it here. The link RuthM has put up indicates it might be due to lots of violent scenes (which they probably won't cut out in Dubai). Oh well.

Plus I think a lot of the mall sales staff use the metro to get to their places of work (the actual stores) and need to be there early so they can tidy up/arrange stock/ etc and get ready for opening by 10.

That's strange as a lot of the restaurants in the mall are open for breakfast much earlier than 10. I do know that the metro link is open from the metro station with access to the Emaar Square buildings as lots of people use it to commute directly to work (no car or mall parking involved).

I've seen cardboard Minnie Mouse ears at Toys R Us in Times Square recently. They weren't very expensive but I don't remember the exact price. I'm not sure if they had Mickey Mouse ears but maybe you could call and ask. I saw them in the party section (near the cash counter) with all the themed paper plates, party decorations, etc.

Thanks. Unfortunately, it isn't for a British national and it was issued over 30 years ago! I made a trip down to Al Baraha hospital and they said they will go through the old records to try and find it. In the meanwhile, I've been advised to put together the necessary paperwork authorising me to collect it on their behalf. I hope they do find it as they didn't give me a clear answer as to what would happen if they can't find it!!

Thank you for your replies. Just to update everyone - We took the note to the Bank branch manager and mentioned that they had to accept it as per the Central Bank regulations and the manager agreed. They photocopied both sides of the note and gave us a signed photocopy as well. The note will be sent to their head office and after some due process, we will be given a brand new note in exchange. We already tried using it at restaurants/shops/petrol stations and it was always returned. The reason was probably because it was ripped in two and then taped together by it's previous owner so considerably more damaged than your normal wear and tear as far as currency notes go. Anyway, all sorted now (unless the manager doesn't get back to us in the next few days!). edited by fatmuch on 03/03/2014

My husband ended up receiving a torn banknote in a transaction (he never bothered checking the change he was receiving!) and now we have a 500 AED note that is taped through the middle. Our bank refuses to exchange this note even though my husband and I have tried to do this on two separate occasions. Previous posts suggest that they are obligated to as it is legal tender but so far we haven't had any success trying to convince them (Private banking privileges obviously don't count for much either). I doubt the Cash Payment machines would accept it either although we haven't tried. Our bank does not have the envelope deposit system so that option is out. Any suggestions on what to do?

From the Emirates website - For tickets issued on or after 1st March 2014, a golf bag may be carried as part of your free checked baggage allowance and will be subject to excess baggage charges if overweight.

I purchased a Frozen jewellery set from Hamleys in Dubai Mall - they also had some other items but I'm not sure if they had the doll. Borders in Dubai Marina Mall also had the same jewellery set and other items, like a tiara set, the wig and a baby doll (I guess the Disney heroine when she was a baby). I am sure you could call the stores (or branches) nearest to you to ask what they have in stock. However, my experience is that the staff is usually clueless when I ask them and I have end up locating the item in store myself.

I wasn't on the road but could see how the traffic was managed from my apartment window - The timeline matched the times given on the dubai tour website. The relevant section of the road (flyover from emirates hills towards sufouh road) was closed off about 15 min before the stated time and opened about 10 - 15 min after the cyclists had passed. A lot of people got out of their cars to see the cyclists ride past. I'm sure the highways were probably closed off for longer periods or until the cyclists exited them.

You need to freeze them in a single layer (in a tray or plate). Once frozen, they can be removed and stored in plastic ziplock bags and put back in the freezer. This way they won't stick to one another (I am assuming that is why they broke apart in your case).
