Hello Ladies, both of you, welcome to Abu Dhabi!! I have two children myself, and want to warn you about the hot summer months coming up and the possibility of isolating yourself in your apartment then. I would really go out now that it is not too hot yet. We go to parks in the late afternoon, when the sun is not so hot any more, that is where I met parents in the beginning. Do this now and in May... because as of June... it is HOT! So when it is summer, we mothers tend to arrange play dates just to keep the kids entertained. Abu Dhabi mums is a great place to start! Go to coffee mornings of expat woman too, it really helps! You are not alone! Come to the one this wednesday! Bring baby! it 's ok! I'll be there! Do not worry too much about not having a car, with the traffic here, it is best to use a taxi or bus until you are used to the city and know your way around a bit. Taxi's are so cheap here, why don't you use them, especially with a baby and maybe a pram... you can use it well. Take some time to settle in and don't let the city overwhelm you, it will be ok!

It will not be evident if you fall outside of the "allowed categories" My sister in law came to Abu Dhabi last September, she immediately had a job and visa, and started the visa procedure for her son right away after she had hers. She had sufficient income (they told her that minimum is 5.000 aed per month and her salary was 15.000 aed) but the problem was that she did not fall within those categories. She tried to apply for her sons visa twice (she is divorced), , but... she had to ring him back home because in January, the school told her they could no longer keep her son in school without visa. To avoid loosing the whole year, she brought the boy back to her parents and he enrolled asap in school there where he will now, hopefully, still manage to save the year. It has been a frustrating experience for all of us, I hope you are in a better position! It is true, they will look at this on a case to case basis, but it is not transparent what the real demands are for having a woman sponsor her child. Anyhow... we could not discover the "find print" anywhere!

I just had a photoshoot at Cinemalerba. WOW. This was by far better than I had expected! It was a glamour shoot, but we saw their albums, they do some great albums for weddings and babies too. The photoshoot I paid for costs me 2.500 aed, it includes a 20 page photo book of 20 x 20 cm. With cover box and I can pick the cover options. I upgraded because I had first taken the basic offer for 2000 AED. but once I saw the images I knew I had to upgrade. So glad I did. This photographer comes to your house if you like, with me she brought a whole bunch of back drop options, lights, even a hairpiece she designed herself because I wanted a soft romantic image. I really did not feel comfortable going to a studio, and now that i have experienced this, I can tell you this is something you should really consider with a baby. Because at home, you are in your babies safe environment, so he/she will be comfortable. I do not have small babies any more, but if I did, I would not hesitate. Hope this is of help to you. ;)

Hello Expat Women, my first time in this blog. I moved to Abu Dhabi only 2 months ago, so I am new and do not know many places or people. I am in need of some suggestion for a Valentine's present for my fiance. He is one of these men who have everything you may think of. So somebody suggested I could present him with some boudoir pictures, but besides the fact that I think I would be embarrassed, I do not even know if such a thing is possible in this country. Can you help me with some suggestion? Thanks Suzanne
