Yes, you need to present the tenancy contract attested. The Land Department is on the creek just facing Emirates NBD HQ. Here is their link: http://www.dubailand.gov.ae/ld_website/english/Misc/Contact_US_English.aspx You can get it attested directly while you are there for 120 AED??? Not sure about the amount, I did it last year

Actually this is true and Emaar charges anyone that is coming for work, they charge either the person directly (gardener for example) or the owner / tenant. We had to pay for a maintenance company that came to do some repairs

I have 3 children now :) It might happen now, or later. Do what you have to do and hope for the best. Big hugs to you! Hoping it's your big moment. Prayers going all over your way!!! Loads!!!

Thanks a lot Hello Again Kitty (By the way my daughter would love your name!!!!). It was reassuring. I was actually told that the terrible 2 are stretching to the terrible 2 & 3. I am just praying that there are no extensions to 4. I am taking it one day at a time and one tantrum at a time. Let us do what we can and hope for the best! Thanks again

Thanks a lot for all your replies. Very interesting indeed. As some said, I am trying to deal with every fear/manipulation alone without connecting it to the others. Regarding medicines and doctors, I don't know if this is related but when she was a baby, she was admitted to the hospital and they tried to take blood (4 or 5 times), but it did not work as her veins were very small. We had to sign a paper releasing the hospital from the responsibility because we asked them to stop. She always had a BIG problem with everything related to doctors and medicines. We bought a medicine toy kit and we try on her dolls and I show her that it does not hurt. Whenever we are faced with the real thing, it goes again. I don't take her to the doctor unless it is absolutely necessary (one time she bit the doctor's hand!). She does not even accept to put a band aid! The problem with the medicine is that some of them are to taken as is without mixing to anything. Swimming pool: I bought several colourful toys, and I am sitting with her on the side of the pool and we take it one step at a time, it is moving but very slowly. What do I do when she has a tantrum? It depends on the cause, location, and how bad it is. If in the house, I always tell her: Calm down, i cannot understand anything when you're shouting like this. I always say it with a firm tone. Eventually, she would calm down. At the Doctor, He tried to deal with it, she bit him as I said. However, she had 42 degrees fever (for the 3rd day), with sever diarrhea and a very bad cough. We could not ignore that, so we had to hold her until the Doctor checked her. I do suspect that the shopping, clothes, shoes are her manipulative side.

My daughter is 3 years old and she is afraid of a lot of things, and I don't really how to deal with her fears. She is afraid of: swimming, noises, dark, medicines, brushes - a in brushing her hair, the stickers in the playground, face painting, trying a new dress or new shoes, dropping water on herself, and the list can go on and on Her reactions are a bit extreme! It takes 3 adults to give her medicine when she is sick. I took her shopping once, she threw a tantrum because I was trying some shoes on her. It was embarrassing. Now, I buy things bring them home and we take it wasy on her until she 'decides' she wants to try them. Has anyone been there? Any advice would be much appreciated? TIA

I searched them while looking for a school for my kids. And really, they freaked me out. They are more a military regiment then a proper school. Academically, I think they are brilliant, but there is much much more than that to make a good school. I will give you one example: I had a Lady friend whose son is at Choueifat. We were having a party one of these weekends and invited them to come. She said they couldn't because Kevin had to study as he had an exam next morning. He is 6!!!! Personally, I do not want my kids to be brought like this. I want them to have fun and enjoy school. Sorry about the negative comment. But that is just what I think. I might be wrong

I might be stoned for this, but I really really really don't like any of the Louis Vuitton bags. I hate paying zillions for something, and then have to market it and its brand everytime I wear it.

Having the same problem here. I asked in several supermarkets, and they told me that they ran out of stock and that the supplier is not delivering. Yesterday night, I found medium size (11-15Kgs) at Geant, Ibn Battuta.

I thought that Gelish would not be very healthy for my nails. But, I have been using it for more than 8-9 months. I skip it every now and then and put regular polish. It lasts up to 3, even 4 weeks. Tthe problem is when the nail grows longer, it is not very pretty as you have parts that are not polished. And, my nails have never been healthier.

gusncoley, I had a small problem with my daughter and I thought the whole world was collapsing. And, it is nothing to compare with what you are living. She will be in my prayers to get well quickly and permanently. And you will be in my prayers, so you can have the courage to pass through all this. Children are stronger than we think! I hope that in a couple of years, you will remember this phase with a tender smile. Lots of hugs to you all

Just this weekend, I was at one of the shops buying shoes for my 2 DDs. And the LO (2 years) decided she did not want to try them on. And to manifest this, she decided to sit on the floor of this big, quite busy shop, and starting screaming, and crying very loudly, and hitting her feet on the floor. I did not even insist on the shoes. It was mortifying. You should have seen the oh-look-at-that-bad-mom looks, and the my-children-would-never-do-that ones. Well, maybe the OP was talking about me! At points, and I am not the supermom who excels at everything, I just don't know what to do. PS: This incident does not even come close to the last one that happened few months ago..... in the plane. I wantes to jump, but did not find the way out!

@ shagdash: I would only say that I am thankful and privileged with all the blessings I have However, for a child, knowing that your mother went to another country and is working to provide for you is very much different from a mother that just left ...

@bbcb: Your story is so touching. And big hugs to you for getting through all of this. And a tender kiss on your scar. Hope the one inside gets better some day! It definitely seems that the lady in the article is self centered, but, who are we to judge. Sometimes circumstances dictate actions and reactions, and we don't know what's behind all of this. Life is not black and white, it holds a lot of shades of grey. I know a couple (distant friends). Married for 8 years, with 2 sons 1 is 6, the other is 18 months. To the outside world, they looked like the happy couple leading the happy life. And then one day, the father of the man got terminally ill. And the man dedicated himself to him for 3 months, until eventually he passed away. During that time, the woman was arguing with him all the time that he is neglecting her and the children. And one day, she took the LO (18 months) while the older one was at school, and she flew to another country. Calling only when she arrived to inform her husband that she left him with the LO. The elder boy was devastated: His mum left him. She chose to take his brother along. And as he said: 'I was not good enough for her to take me....' Ultimately, she sent the LO back home to his father with a friend!!!!!! Everyone, including her parents who cut her off after all this, is devastated. The elder boy is marked for life. This is extreme. But I don't know, I cannot judge her. I don't know what she was going through. Maybe she was mentally unstable. Maybe as others said, leaving was actually better for her kids. If you are not performing anymore at your job, you resign or you get fired. What if a woman cannot perform anymore in her role as a mother? Is it better to stay and maybe hurt herself and the children in the way? or is it better for her to leave and give herself and her family more chances to be happy. I have heard of so many stories where the mum takes her life and the life of her children in a huge moment of despair. What if the lady I know, had come to this if she hadn't left. I know that one should never say never. But, my present feelings are that I would never leave my kids. I adore them, and literally, when I don't see them for a couple of weeks (work requirements), I have difficulty sleeping or even breathing. The day my daughter was born was like an illumination, as I knew directly, the very reason of my existence is to be a mum to her (and now to her sisters), and my sole objective in life is to provide them a good life and raise them to be good people.

Just to add my 2 cents: Tried Jebel Ali Hospital, and as another poster said: enter at your own risk. Will never do it again. Have done AH sooooo many times. They are excellent in handling all cases, however, you really need to account for a loooooong waiting time. And it's horrible when you're taking a sick baby or child and end up waiting for 2 hours to see the Dr. Of course, they do the screening upon arrival and if the case is very serious, then they would take in immediately. Tried Rashid Hospital for a road accident. Very professional. Could not fault them. As other suggested: Don't wait until an emergency strikes to know your way. There would be too much stress and panic to deal with logistics details. Good luck and hoping you won't need any :)

Natalie, I cannot recommend enough an osteopath called Aziza at Osteopathic health centre. When I started with her, I was bearly walking (after having been treated by 3 different physiotherapists in Dubai). She saved my life. And now, I am as good as new :) :) You can check them at www.osteopathydubai.com I have heard that the other osteopaths at the centre are as good as Aziza, but haven't tried them myself. Good luck!

I don't think you can. You need to have at least 3 months validity on the visa to sponsor someone. But, you can renew your visa in April before it expires and then do the sponsoring. Remember that residencies now are valid for 2 years and not 3 as they used to be

Hi Shoyz, Actually, the 6 months ban still applies if the contract is ended before 2 years (no matter who ends it and even in the probation period). The problem is that the ban is put by the MOL and not by the companies themselves. Companies can only put ban if the employee breaks the law. I agree that you should check with the MOL, maybe there s a special case here.
