Just bumping the thread for any updates? My sister will be visiting next week and looking at things we could do. I have a 2 1/2 boy and was thinking of bringing him along...otherwise, DS can stay with DH whilst sis and I go to Bateaux Dubai instead? What do you think? ;)

Has anyone used the spreadable Philly cream cheese to make frosting? On a recipe I found it is asking specifically for a block cream cheese. Worried the frosting won't be good. Don't understand why it's so difficult to find the original blocks!

I have been to less expensive salons that cuts for 100 but I have never been happy. I am looking at going to hairworks in spinneys, they've just reopened recently, I think. Any recommendations on a good stylist there?

I have also been in Dubai for almost 7 years and in my time here, I have only had I think 3-4 haircuts. I would either get a haircut when I'm back home or simply grow my hair out. My last haircut was last year (please don't judge me  ) I am looking at booking slam due to all the positive feedback. However, I only would like a trim or a simple layered cut. I have long and very straight hair. Don't know if they only do edgy cuts. How's the waiting time, by the way?

I have taken my little boy to Nicolas and Asp when on his 1st birthday. I really could not remember the name of the dentist but he was ok. I now take my little boy to Dr Chantal at Dr Michael's. We've only met her once when my son turned 2 years old and she was fantastic. The clinic was also very child friendly and even had bicycles in the garden which my son loved while we wait for our turn. We had a wonderful consultation with her and have now booked for our second appointment with her.

I have been using Careem Kids whenever DH is unable to drive for us. So far, I have no complaints. On more than one occasion, they came with the car seat not yet installed but it only takes 2 minutes to do that. The drivers are also very helpful and pleasant.

Spa package / couples massage We had a fab couples Hammam at Zabeel Saray, and then had the small spa area all to ourselves. Went and had lunch at their restaurant by the beach and spent the rest of thre day there :) Hi GE, this sounds lovely! Thanks for sharing.

It gets better!! My kids were frequently sick in nursery, and at 6 and 7 are hardly ever off school now (without any air purifiers or anything); I think they've had most of the bugs already. And the kids with the snotty noses were almost always just as infectious the day before, when they were symptom free - it won't make that much difference to your children whether other parents keep them home or not. This is what DS' paediatrician told us this week. DS is sick this week and was sick every month which is very frustrating. Myself and DH work full time and it is so difficult to take time off work when our children are sick (I sometimes come to work even when I am sick so I can take time off when DS is sick instead). Our doctor said his patients are mostly 5 years old and below as they eventually develop stronger immune system by the time they turn 6 years.

Can a friend use one of my member offer vouchers? I have noticed when you print them, it prints with your name and because I have not used any of these member offer vouchers, would they ask for an ID? Strictly speaking they shouldn't, however when I have used member offers and printed the vouchers I have never been asked for ID to verify the name. Thanks Yorky! I wanted to give a voucher to a friend but I don't want her to get in trouble, in case.

Fazaris at The Address Downtown Burj Khalifa do an amazing buffet breakfast every morning 6am - 11am. There is a huge tree shaded terrace with lots of water features around so it is still cool enough to sit outside. Great view of Burj Khalifa too. How much is it at Fazaris?

I wouldn't feel comfortable leaving my child to a nursery if the staff, especially the management and the teachers are not approachable. The management should be able to answer to parents with concrete and honest solutions.

heh ladies... thinking of throwing my friend a baby shower first week of august and given the crazy temperatures we most definitely will be looking at an indoor venue... the event will be mixed (so spouses, kids as well)... any suggestions that wont break the bank... looking for something along the lines of AED 100 per head... heard lovely recommendations for The Farm and Rhodes... but not sure if they offer indoor private venues? we will be around 30-40 guests in total thanks! The Farm had indoor venues which I think they rent out for events/group bookings because when we went there about 3 weeks ago, I saw about 4-5 separate rooms and one/two of them are empty or closed. Maybe worth checking it out. Also check Crumbs Elysee on SZR. Was there one Friday for brunch and a group booked a long table for a baby shower. They decorated their area with pink and red table cloths and flower, it was lovely. Only AED60 for breakfast.

D Chantal Kengo at dr Michaels, we used to see her at dr Nicolas asp in marina. She has moved now to dr Michaels, Umm sequin one. She is excellent with difficult children, I know mine hate the dentist :-) Thanks so much Preethihappy. Are the ladies here thumbing down the post or the poster? I don't understand why I'm getting thumbsdown for asking a question...

There is no charge to use the toilets and showers they are free to the public. If you want to hire umbrellas and chairs or use the kids waterpark then there is a charge. We were there about 3 weeks ago and when DH tried to go inside one of the shower rooms/toilets with DS after their swim, they were told to pay Dhs20 somewhere (we don't know where) so instead they used the showers located just outside it (which is free). And when we were dressing DS up, we were told it is not allowed to dress him up there. So we moved a few inches from the platform and dressed him up under the sun. Ridiculous!

Perhaps read the letter than an alleged taxi driver wrote in to 7 days He admitted at change over if they are late back they are fined AED 200 If that's true, that's awful :( I reckon it's BS I have heard about this story before and it's a pity as some of these drivers are really good people.

Does anyone know if you can use the Atlantis (kalediscope) voucher for breakfast buffet or is it just the evening? Called them and was told that they don't accept the voucher for breakfast, only for lunch and dinner and Saffron only for dinner.

We don't have an iPad as DH is extremely against it. He says, we both have iPhones and iPads are just bigger versions of that. I do tease him saying that it will be beneficial to DS who is 14 months old but is really more for me. Haha! On a more serious note, I agree with some of the ladies here. I want me or DH to sit with DS and read books to him. But I would consider an iPad in case we are flying for 16 hours.

I agree with FairyDust. You are in a Muslim country so I would think wearing a burkini is as common as wearing an abaya. Just enjoy your time with your family and friends and I'm sure no one would mind what you are wearing. :)

We did Pierchic on Friday, the starter and main were amazing but the dessert was a let down, we spoke to management who apoligised and said we weren't the first to complain about it that evening so they would be speaking to the chef. We are booked for Tokoyo@TheTowers tomorrow night, I haven't been and love Japanese food so looking forward to that one and then we have Junsui at Burj al Arab on Thurday evening, I booked it two weeks ago and the friday was already full and limited times for the thursday, so it filled up very quickly. Having lived here for 8 years now I have never been in the burj, so that will be a good one to tick off the list :-) Love hearing everyones reviews, keep them coming ladies. So lucky you booked Junsui early. That was the whole point of us booking it as we have never been to Burj Al Arab. Better keep an eye out for it next year. On the side note, are any of these restaurants child friendly? We wanted to bring DS (14 months) with us. Thanks!

Has anyone been? Was going to book Junsui at Burj Al Arab but I was one day too late! What do you mean? Fully booked I did the JRW at Rivington Grill on Saturday night, very good - but honestly MJ's was much better (I did that last year) I was planning to book Junsui on Thursday afternoon but waited until the next day to speak with some of my friends. When we all agreed, the offer is no longer on the website. I assume it was already fully booked that's why they have taken this off the site.

I had a cut a month ago and paid Dhs250 for cut and blowdry and tipped the hairdresses Dhs20 and I think Dhs10 to the lady who washed my hair. Only because I don't really go to the salon that much for my hair. If I was then maybe I won't or I would give less... :)

I bought the book and registered it, so now I get all the new venues on my app (like The Pantry Cafe, Mayrig, etc) as well as the monthly deals. However, the app has all other vouchers locked. There must be something wrong with my account then. Thanks! Will give them a ring.

Have the app on my phone and when none of the new deals appeared I updated the app. Worked like a charm. Hi Gentle, I also have the app on my phone and updated it. Even re-installed it but still nothing. Did you buy the app or the book? I have the book and installed the app on my phone and logged in using my registered account so I assumed it would at least show the monthly deals.
