I think if you feel that a baby breastfeeding in public is shameful and the mum must cover up, I suggest the next time you go out to eat or have a cup of starbucks in hand while you walk around Dubai Mall, bring a pashmina and cover your head and see how that feels.

Siri isnt really that helpful other than asking it about the weather and appointments, but I do find it amusing at times. I have taught Siri to call me Sexy. Other times, it can call me Gorgeous. Haha! I also use Siri to open apps such as the camera or IG when Im feeling lazy.

Thanks mumofmoo. I have contacted Smile Corner Photobooth and they charge AED600 for two hours with unlimited prints. Very good price, me thinks! The others I checked cost AED1500 and up! So I have booked them. Thanks for all the help!

Thanks ladies, I will look into it. Would be good if I could find one where there's some children from JESS Jumeirah too so that my LO will know someone but not sure this will be possible. I've seen a couple of children in JESS uniform when I came to pick up my son one afternoon. Not sure if your LO would know any of them. Better check with the nursery how many from JESS though as I see mostly children from JPS.

Hello ladies. I'm also looking for my baby boy's first bday cake, Wild Wild West theme. How much did the cakes you ordered cost you, just so I have an idea? My idea of the cake is one or two tiered with a cake topper, could be fondant or royal icing. Will look into the ones suggested below. Thanks! two tiered FONDANT cakes usually cost around 450dhs and feeds around 20-30 (depending on how big or small you cut slices) if you want to go for something cheaper, have a regular cake and then just use some characters or theming done in fondant (instead of the whole cake being covered in fondant)... in that case a 2kg cake should cost you more than 275... that's a brilliant idea. besides, i think half the time fondant just go to waste. thanks so much for your help HM2!

We had one at our wedding back home for about almost 4 times that crowd and paid a little bit less... the handy thing about the photo booth is you get the photos and so do your guests. The instant photos is kind of what prompted me to get the polaroid, I hope you find something a bit more reasonable. Def get the polaroid, the newer ones make lovely wallet size photos :) We also hired one at our wedding back home that cost us half the price which made me consider hiring one for my baby's birthday party as it was very popular with the guests and they had so much fun. All the photos can also be viewed digitally that the guests can view/share the photos. Everything in Dubai costs twice the price!

Don't know about cheaper photobooth options but you could just buy a Polaroid camera and some props. Camera is about 250 in the Grand Digital Stores. Plus you have the camera after. Have one and always use it for parties, its great fun! Thanks, mannikat! Ive always wanted a Polaroid, perhaps I can have this as a back up plan to get DH to buy me one. Haha! My only problem is I really wont have the time to go around (or ask someone to do it for me) and take pictures during the party. I would want something readily available for the guests to go in and use. I would only have about 40-50 guests, do you ladies think it is still worth getting?

Never really bothered to look here but I ordered some large tubs of it online from Swanson's Vitamins - arrived quickly and had no problems with customs. For milk supply, if you have tried all the herbal remedies (fenugreek etc) then you might want to look into taking domperidone (sold as Motilium - google it, it's available over the counter here). It helped me keep my supply going. I find eating a decent amount of protein at each meal and getting enough sleep (okay, that one is the difficult part!) is also important. Thanks Beany. It specifically asked for Brewers Yeast so not sure if I can use other kinds of yeast. Anyways, I will try and order through souq.com. How long did it take for yours to arrive?

Aww bless ya forty winks, that's really crappy. Is your doc away just nxt wk or permenantly off? This thread recommends dr raj/dr bw/ dr branch/ dr danielson and I'm sure whichever one you choose, you and baby will arrive safe and well. Tbh most of the hard graft will probably be done by the midwives anyway (unless you choose c sect etc). I had an issue with dr at AH, and very pleased to have switched to dr Braithwaite at 22ish wks-though I feel fine, I'm now having many tests with suspected preeclampsia/gest diabetes etc etc and I'm so pleased with dr BW's treatment. The last gyny I had used, I see on this thread that she's leaving....though she had said she'd would have been here to deliver my baby, she wouldn't have. Deep breathe and try and keep calm for you and baby, and ultimately you and baby are in control....though I can only sympathise, you must be seething! The birth will be a couple of days of your life, but the most important thing will be your lifetime with your beautiful littl'un! Try and keep smiling x Thank you so much for the encouragement. She did mention Dr Branch in between our conversation, I just hope it works out. I really dont have the time to see countless OB next week because I really dont want to pay extra. We dont have insurance and chose to avail of their package. I will maybe try and see if we can have an appointment with Dr Branch. Anyone else recommend her?

I would recommend Dr nasreen, i had a procedure done with her and she made me feel so confortable and not worried,. I am only 6wks pregnant and hoping to get in with Dr Raj for the delivery as Nasreen is leaving apparently. Anyway, Dr Nasreen is great if you can get in with her!! Guess who I am currently seeing? Haha!!!!

Thats really interesting - sorry you ar ehaving trouble - try not to worry, at AH, the midwifes do all the work anyway unless there is something urgent wrong and then they will call whoever is nearest for you I am sure I have been very happy with AH until yesterday. I am just extremely disappointed with this news.

Dont worry FW, you'll be is safe hands with any of them at AH. I asked to have another dr on my delivery night bec i wasn't happy with her (but nothing against her medical skills) and ended up with Dr Raj who's caring for me now with my second preg. I suggest you see another Dr and see how you feel, you'll be able to judge whether you can handle her while in labour, if you dont like her attitude or you dont click try with another one in a few days. Try to relax, coz things normally dont go as planned on the delivery day, also remember that only 5% of deliveries happen on the due date. Wishing you a safe and healthy delivery for you both x Thanks Swissroll! I was thinking on going with Dr Raj but I know she is really busy. I have been told that she has the most patients in that department. I'm really frustrated that the baby is not here yet, I am extremely tired now, and then this surprise? Haha! I dont know how I can still laugh. Anyways, I am really low maintenance. Not once did I call our OB throughout the duration of my pregnancy. I just want the baby out and finally be able to choose an OB.

I'm currently in a bit of a situation. I have been going to AH since the beginning of my pregnancy and have been seeing one OB. I am now due on Sunday (24 March) and been told at my appointment yesterday that if I dont deliver this week, she might not be there next week. Now that is a big surprise for both DH and myself. The reason we chose AH since the beginning because we want to have the same Physician to deliver the baby. However, when asked if she can recommend anyone to replace her, all she could say was, "schedule an appointment with another Physician, if you two click, then you can choose her". I mean, I am due Sunday, do we still have time to even choose a Physician? However, there is nothing we can do now but just hope that she is still there when I deliver (as she knows my history). If not, anyone you can recommend at AH who can handle or would accept a last minute patient? I'm stressing this out but not really showing DH because I know he is very disappointed too. Thanks!

Thanks ladies. I forgot to mention that I am 9 months preggo and could pop anytime. Haha! So drinks wont even be on the list. My mum does not drink and DH will be driving. Maybe we will go to Shimmers. Mum would be very pleased with the view and hoping to get to walk along the beach after dinner. Do we take the Abra to get there? DH is concerned that I wont be able to. Haha! No you don't need to take the Abra. Valet park at Mina A Salam and walk through the lobby to the stairs / elevator to the ground floor. Once you get outside follow the walkway to the beach. Thanks so much, Yorky!

Thanks for the feedback. For some reason, my mum is obsessed with the "7 star hotel" and kept on asking for it. I told her about the tallest building in the world but she couldnt be bothered. haha! she is here on vacation and thought that bringing her there would be nice. It is my birthday today and my mum's on the 20th so having a special dinner once instead. Can we go to shimmers after dinner if we decide to go to the wharf?

This for the first time I am traveling alone with my son and I will be having lots of luggage that's why I was looking to book the marhaba service. Thanks to all the ladies for your kind help. I have finally booked their family meet and greet service. Will definitely share how my experience goes with them. edited by monabish on 14/03/2013 My mum arrived and was greeted as soon as she entered the terminal. She didn't have to go through all the long lines and was fast tracked through eye scan and passport control. There was a lady who assisted her and a porter who had her luggage when we met her at the meeting point. She said it was nice that she didnt have to wait and she also felt important :) Hope you have a nice experience with them!

Great, thanks Forty_Winks, that makes me feel a bit more relaxed about it. :) MUBAR: I got it at E-CITY Electronics in MCC. I hadn't planned on getting a new phone but they bought my iPhone 4 which took quite a bit off the price of the iPhone 5. And yes, it has Facetime. I got mine from etisalat but have LTE. I dont think LTE is only for the american version iphone 5. sad to say, i dont have facetime :(

Hubby and I make a point of doing breakfast every weekend and love More Cafe and The Farm (although it is hard to get into so book early). We also like Emirates Golf Club (buffet), the Boardwalk, Bunkers at Montgomerie and Organic Cafe - see I told you we are breakfast addicts! These are only a few on our list! A top tip is the Entertainer book as has many hotel buffet breakfasts......we recently did Meydan which was lovely as was Beachcombers although a little hectic. We've tried to like Jones the Grocer but find it very disappointing every time. I think we generally pay 100-150 depending on how long we linger with coffees! I love doing breakfast in this weather if we can sit outside and the Farm is gorgeous for that! Enjoy - looking forward to our weekend brekkie now! Yum yum :) edited by sunglow on 05/03/2013 Oohh! Tempting! Will try Emirates Golf Club this weekend. Thanks!!!

I usually get 2 emails and 1 text message. Doesn't bother me, and at least they have their behinds covered, nobody can say they didn't know lol. If it disturbs you that much, send it straight to the junk folder. I understand completely that they must cover their backs when it comes to billing but emails, and sms, then a phone call, all to remind you of the same thing, even if you have been on time, is too much. If we have missed a payment, then I would totally understand. What's ironic is, when we moved to our apartment in August, we had to wait more than a month for Du to get our internet, cable, and telephone connected. But to remind you of your bill, days ahead. I think they must focus their time in making their service better than making stupid phone calls. Haha! Again, rant over :)

Hi Jupiter, what you can do is, decide first on which hospital and doctor you want to go with. After a lot of research, we opted for American Hospital. I first met our OB at 10 weeks and had to pay for that visit which was around 700 or 800, i think. The package doesnt start until you are 12 weeks. The package will include all your routine tests and scans. At AH, they explained to me all the inclusions in the package and if there are any tests outside of the package which I must get, that I must pay. Everytime I go for my visits, they know that I dont have insurance and that I have a package. My doctor is also aware. I am now almost full term and will also deliver at American Hospital. Again, I am taking a package for either normal or c-section delivery. Everything was also explained to me when the day comes that I go into labour. Visit their website to get more info. Prices are on their website as well. Hope this helps! http://www.ahdubai.com/dynamicdata/maternity.aspx

I am also pregnant (36 weeks) and we took a package with American Hospital as my insurance does not cover maternity at all. I find that most of the scans and tests were done until around 32-33 weeks. doctors visits cost around AED500 each time, if im not mistaken. The package at AH costs 6k which includes 12 doctor's visits, 12 urine tests, 3 diagnostic scans, blood tests, glucose test, (all routine tests) which in my opinion would cost more if you pay as you go. check also with other hospitals. i think most of the inclusions in the package can be found on their websites.
