Yes very quiet Indeed.. Back in 2009 this place was buzzing ..whenever my LO was having a nap(not so little now) always checked in to see if I've missed anything juicy lol. Def. need to keep this place alive and kicking. My life depends on it. It really helped when I was a newbie whenever I need to know, find or ask for anything and advice of course.

I Apologise for bringing this thread up. So..how did everyone got on? To cut my story short..our LL sent us to court and we won ? Finally found a place. We due to leave in a week. Suspicion has risen after talking to one of workers in the tower this afternoon. Apparently the new owners who supposedly taking over the apartment has bought the place and his name should appear on the deed. Worker now saying seen no docs for this apartment and no change of ownership. Instead keeps getting calls whether the apartment is empty hmmm  How do I find out if the place actually been sold..have this feeling our LL sold the place to a family member.. Would like some advice before taking the legal route, TIA

Our landlord property company called us few days claiming that our cheque that was due in October was not encashed by our bank. We called our bank who confirmed that the cheque was never deposited to our account for encashment. Now the company is asking us for a replacement cheque. They sent us a letter signed by the finance manager stating that the cheque was misplaced by their bank. The letter is on the company's letterhead but it wasn't stamped. The cheque was issued under the name of the landlord not his company (he owns the company), but for me the letter without a stamp & signed by the head of finance is not enough. Should we go forward & issue a new cheque based on the letter we received ? Or should we ask for another letter signed & stamped by the landlord? The landlord will not run away with the money, he's a reputable local landlord who owns several properties and residential rental building all around the UAE, but for me there is something fishy. At 1st they asked for a new cheque over the phone but we requested the letter. Hi there, If cheque stolen or lost should be reported to the police. Take the police report to cancel cheque. And..No... you should not write out a cheque until it's cancelled or returned. We just went through a similar situation. It's seems there some sort of fad going around. Hth. Good luck. This is very helpful thanks!! Your welcome.

The Best way to find a good moving Company is get the Moving Quotes from minimum 6 Movers from Dubai for example www.topten-movers.com ,Comapre the price ad service , save time and money on your move . www.topten-movers.com , +971 50 1401909 I know you're advertising this, but I personally would never use a website for something like this. Always go with personal recommendation oh dear  Thought I give that website ago as Joly has posted on my thread. Will go with my gut feeling and ask lots of questions. Obviously not accept first and second quotes until I find the right one and of course will go by recommendation that was given on my thread. . To the OP let me know how you go with Promove. TIA

Morning everyone, I was at Oasis Mall at the weekend and I noticed there was a donation box with lots of bags of clothes etc think it was located near Express Car4. Anyone know if that is a regular thing and where is this box going to. I didn't get the chance to find out as I was rushing through the mall. Wondering if other malls such as Ibn and Moe has a similar thing going. TIA

Hi I've been living in Dubai for 6 years when i first arrived my kids were small and i was enjoying the expat life, meeting new people, going for coffees. Now i have got to the stage that I'm bored and all i want is to go out and work. My background is HR and i understand being our of work for 6 years and no experience in the UAE its difficult But even getting into an Admin role I'm not having any luck. I have applied for many roles on the Expat women site, but it seems people don't get back to you and so you never really get any feedback. I know many of my friends work as TA but at the moment thats not really what i want to do, to be honest its nice to have a break from the kids while they are at school and when they come home its full on so working with the kids to not my ideal. Ive been looking for work on and off for the last year and just not having any luck. I.m just wondering if there is anyone that can guide me on what I should do. As I'm feeling really down and so desperate for a job. Hi Cheeky, I'm in the exact position as you. I too, worked in HR. My problem is the hours they don't fit around my routine where I have to pick up DD from school and after school activities etc. Don't feel comfortable getting maid and driver as majority of the salary will be towards that. So now I've opted to volunteer at DD school just to have a bit of change instead of the same old routine. I too, have friends who are TA and they advice me to apply at the school but it just not for me. So Cheeky your not alone. I feel your frustration. All the best with the job hunting x

I'm doing a bit of clearing out and have amassed a gallon size bag full of perfectly good pencils -- all full size with erasers, a bundle of various colored pens (all working), and another bundle of colored pencils -- again all full size and decent quality. I hate to throw them out and want to know if any teachers here could use them or would encourage me to drop them off at a school. I don't have a clue if they would accept them. Any thoughts ladies. Hi Norak, Am doing the exact thing atm. I know kings dubai wanting to donate pens pencils erasers notes etc for Yemen. You can drop them off to them. Last day for collection tomorrow. Hth.

Thanks ladies for the replies Apologise for the late response.. GeordieBird - Thanks for the heads up! I was tempted to SnS glad you mentioned it. I too, had a big order. Now that I've decided to order directly the items I wanted has now all sold out  If you don't mind me asking have you had to return an item back to Asos? My only concern is ordering from Asos from here is "returnable items" which is not as straightforward as it is in the UK. SarahLou - Sorry, I assumed you have ordered from Asos. I'm going to try and order from starwberrynet would you think that a good website to order hair and beauty items? TIA

I cant seem to see on the website if I need to enter my DH work address and PO box Number. I assume that will be picked up once I type in the shop and ship add? is that correct? I do remember when I registered they asked for a delivery address which I then entered DH work add? sorry for all the questions..

Hi, I've noticed the sales now and after Ramadan bit hit and miss IMO. Find a lot of the good stuff have already gone. Usually the case with me, anyway. Though I went shopping at the weekend and ended buying non sale items. Mind you, I'm keeping a look out for UK shops. I haven't come across the sales sign yet.

Hi, I have opened a shop and ship account ages ago and never took the plunge to order online fear that It might get lost etc. This afternoon I've decided to order from amazon.uk Now... Am a little confused amzone asking for delivery address do I enter the UK shop and shop address or the address that in Dubai?? I assume when I enter my shop and ship address it will pick up the address where it's suppose to go?? Sorry this sounds a bit daft. First time I'm using this type of service. Also, is there a way I can check my actual address that it's suppose to go to in Dubai. Think I entered my DH work address. It's been ages since I signed and I just can't remember. Your help is much appreciated. TIA

I feel your pain Asti. I've been thinking of going back to work too after 7 yrs of being SAHM! Im In a dilemma of deciding either to have baby #2 that be another 4 yrs at home! Is it just me. I use to shop at Lulu few yrs back and yes it was cheaper. Then I switched to Car4 because of the loyalty card and a bonus for me its in the mall in case I need to pick anything else on my way while am there and I found I've saved more. I practically find everything I want in there now. Few weeks back I thought I go to Lulu for a change and I did the same shopping and came out spending a lot more... only pop in there for Ribena seems to be the only place that stocks it and their fish meat and chicken. I only go to Spinneys and Waitrose for pork and anything British which is not stocked up in the car4 supermarkets ie Jaffa cakes which I cannot find anywhere else part from Spinneys. Again, I use to shop at Geant found it got expensive (only go there if am clothes shopping at ibn; whilst am there pick up a few bits. At the end of the day doesn't matter where you shop as long you can get everything you want and need under one roof except Pork and Alcohol and in my case Ribena! and of course its within your shopping budget! Happy Shopping! edited by Fr!zzyBusY on 02/04/2015

Couple of weeks ago I had a facial with lovely lady called Natalie she was really good I was a bit nervous she was new etc. but she was very experienced and knew her products well. I usually have facials with Lydia but I couldn't get an appointment she gets booked up fairly fast and my face was screaming out for a facial. Give her try. She left my face smooth and glowing.

Sorry ladies for the late reply. Many thanks for your feedbacks on the two areas. @ Mags, I have ruled out Mirdif shame its a lovely area and we saw a gorgeous villa too. I gathered the route to from her school is a bit much also majority of her after school activities are near her school :( @Missy Moo, Wow you been there 5 yrs! We went to JVC over the weekend for a couple of viewings and what a nightmare looking for the place. We ended up in JVT! We got there in the end as it was literally on the otherside! I understand where you coming from there are a lot of construction in the area and no road signs. Went pass Mirabella villas and the trucks and the construction bit crazy and that was at the weekend! I agree the place and finish in some of the villas is not great it a shame. We saw a place in Fortunato the compound had huge swimming pool and gym. Just no shops around or parks are yet to built up. I agree the place will look amazing when its all done but by then the rents will be sky high. We move out next yr so we got a bit of time so doing lots of research atm. Ladies, thank you for your feedback I really appreciate it xx :

The Landlord is entitled to give 12 Months Notice if he wants to sell the property empty. However… 1. If it is sold within the 12 months, the new owner is required to give you another 12 Months Notice. So, if he sold it today, you would legally be allowed to stay until Jan 2016. 2. If it is not sold, the Landlord is not allowed to rent the property for 2 years. This is monitored through Ejari. I was at the Land Department the week before last, so this is the most up-to-date information. I agree. Were in the same boat as the OPs mentioned above our LL wants to sell too but we are not convinced he is selling so we are watching very closely how this pans out. We have up to Feb 2016.
