I have seen a Furreal cat at the baby store in Oasis Center on SZR. I cannot recall the name of the store, but when you walk out of the main doors of Oasis Center, as though you are leaving to go into the parking lot that faces SZR, it's the store on your right. My daughter loves those things. They are so popular, I bet you can find them anywhere. Hi, Thanks for your reply. Ahhh.. I think you mean Babyshop? I went into babyshop in moe they had Furreal cat but not Trixie the Skateboard or GOGo walking puppies. However, today in moe saw furreal Gogo walking puppies and Trixie skateboard in different 2 stores. Which is bizzare; You would think they would sell all the furreal range in the same shop. <em>edited by Fr!zzyBusY on 19/12/2013</em>

FrizzyBusy, I'm not sure how much a compressor is but did you haggle with the guy at all before you let him take your fridge. We paid only around 250 Dirhams, but it was something to do with the thermostat on ours. My hubby drives a hard bargain though. When he brings your fridge back tomorrow tell him the price is daylight robbery and you could buy a NEW fridge for that, then offer him half that price..... Tell him a friend recommended him (after doing a good job at a low price on a fridge freezer) and if he doesn't charge you a more reasonable price then we won't recommend him to anyone else. He could lose a lot of business ;) Eleanor, 900AED for a plastic fan, that is way tooooo much, I won't recommend them anymore at prices like that. That job is couple hundred. Sorry ladies they were quick and cheap when they fixed our fridge a couple months ago. I was impressed and I thought they deserved to be recommended. from their website [i'>"Whilst we aim to be profitable, our staff and engineers are not incentivised to hike the rates up like some of our competitors. On the contrary, we have a fixed labour price and our staff are focused simply upon providing the best possible service". [/i'> [url=http://www.olxrepair.com/index.html'>link[/url'> ETA. Internet says a compressor is between 320 Dirhams and 920 Dirhams depending on the model. edited by Alismum on 23/11/2013 Hi Alismum Sorry for not getting back to this thread totally forgot about it. We did haggle but not enough but DH seem to think that was the going rate. They gave two quotes; one for 600dhs for a 2nd hand one or a new one for 1200 we decided to go for a new one as the fridge/freezer was only 4 yrs old would be waste to chuck out and could go on for few years more. So far fingers crossed everything seems to be working. Again, many thanks for your help and recommendation.

Hi Alismum, Called them this morning. They been and gone with our FF and just called they said the compressor has gone and needs replacing. He said the cost be 1,200 including labour. Does that sound about right? DH seems to think so. Thanks again, for your help.

FrizzyBusy, This company fixed mine a few months ago and I was really impressed. Only cost a few hundred as well (do negotiate price with them ;) ) They are based in Satwa, so will take your FF and bring it back the next day. I had two other companies come and try to fix my fridge before this company and they couldn't get it working, but these lot did. :) [url=http://buzzon.khaleejtimes.com/classifieds/washing-machine-refrigerator-ac-repairservice-dubai-contact-050-4961-979/'>link[/url'> [url=http://www.olxrepair.com/index.html'>website[/url'> edited by Alismum on 22/11/2013 Thanks for the link will check them out. <em>edited by Fr!zzyBusY on 22/11/2013</em>

I happen to live opposite that Tower its beyond repairable. Apparently I heard work will commence in Jan, not holding my breath though (have my visitors coming next week) how embarrassing and ugly to look at. To add, our LL who has been great and we have not given him an issues of the sort (who doesn't live in Dubai) his brother and parents lives in Dubai. LL sent DH an email notifying of rent increase and he has raise way above the mark. DH checked Rera and yes he has gone way above. Very cheeky indeed! He must of thought we haven't got a clue and not aware of Rera! Good try! Rent Increase + Ugly Tower = No increase! IMHO.

I am a huge fan of clothes from the UK high street especially Oasis In Dubai they are 30-50% more expensive. I go and try on what I like here and order it through the UK website. The savings I have made are enormous as the UK shops constantly have sales on Shop and Ship deliver within 5 days. I used to be an avid clothes shopper here but once I discovered Shop and Ship I rarely if ever buy clothes here Thanks Sarahlou. I struggle to find petite clothing here and many things. I know UK has sales on now which is quite unusual this time of the year. Having issues to scan my ID arghh..so itching to shop right now lol I don't remember scanning my ID.. The UK always has sales :-)[/quote My thoughts exactly hence why I posted to get clarification.

Hi I'd like to purchase a sewing machine. I hear good brands are Singer, Brother and Janome. I've been to Lulu and C4 but could not find Janome. Are they available here? I'd like to do a comparison with models and prices. I'd like to learn to make dresses, skirts, clothes and simple costumes for my kids so would a basic machine be enough for my needs? My budget is 700 dirhams. If you have a machine you love, can you please tell me which brand and model you have? Hi LuLee, Hope you don't mind me asking where are you learning to make dresses etc? I too, would love to learn the basics. Thanks.

Morning all, After a few years living here I have finally decided to open a shop and ship account. Now, I have signed up; just received an email to click on a link to fill in more details. Just want a clarification is it the norm to ask for a copy of your ID? (I apologise if this is a silly question) Just wanted to make sure before committing to shop and ship. TIA

Morning all, After 4 yrs of living in Dubai finally having visitors over in a week and many more to follow :) (Little nervous though; not long ago I read a thread about visitors being served hand and foot and free handouts am hoping mine are the opposite) :s Anyway..I have neglected my guest washroom and want to dress it up a little with some nice scented candles not too keen on flowery smell more of a fresh linen scent that has a strong scent and lasts. Also I would appreciate some ideas where can I buy some nice not too expensive wooden/rattan type baskets so I can place them on the shelf with some nice hand towels inside them. I've posted a link of an idea. What do you think ladies? http://cdn.decoist.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/04/contemporary-guest-bathroom-decor-ideas.jpg I appreciate some ideas from you lovely ladies. Much appreciated. TIA.

Thanks for the feedback Elli. Hope you don't mind me asking, how much did they charge for a zipper and a dress stitched? Thanks.

We went to Al Ain Zoo yesterday and its a lovely zoo. Just a word of advice don't go when there a bank holiday ... The things that I witness there amongst human being was just unbelievable. Overall a lovely zoo. Go and visit.

I agree w/ you Chewit. My DD is in Y2 at Kings and it's her 2nd year. She enjoys it so I have kept her there. At the time a lot of people I spoke to raved about Kings but for me, I don't seem to be able to put my finger on what it is doesn't feel right exactly. I should trust the KHDA rankings but then again.... However, it seems to have lost its pastoral support and feels v corporate. If you haven't already done so, put any of your comments on the parents survey on the KHDA website of which we were given access yesterday. I have taken issue on: - increasing use of ipads as a tool for teaching (KHDA should set a clear policy and strict guidelines otherwise it is open to abuse by teachers and pupils; cost of ipads being borne by parents; - no dedicated music/art/drama department. - outside music providers teaching during class time - disruptive. If I want extra music lessons it should be in free time not during lessons time. - although Arabic is taught daily I have yet to see my DD show me what she has learned in the last year. I get the sense that because it is a govt requirement schools only pay lip service and attend the lessons and maybe do enough to get by. Waste of time for pupils and boring for the teachers. I am also hearing conflicting info re Nad Al Sheba, I heard it had fallen though as the land right could not be agreed and they were going ahead with just Al Barsha. Sorry to digress and hijack your post VictoriaM - let us know yr decision and how DD gets on if you do indeed move her. Good luck with your decision.[/quote Well said Dragon! My feelings exactly about the iPad issue and the music provider! I don't know what to think about Kings anymore such a shame it has got so corporate. I remember first time visiting the school and was very impressed at the time, it was a different head teacher think the name was either " Wilson or Watson" we've only been at the school just over year and am still convincing myself it will get better once NAS opens but I'm beginning to regret moving my DD there. Though my DD is happy there and has adapt very well considering we left another good school to go to Kings, if only i had my way I would move her but my DH thinks " it's the bees knees" OP - Good luck with your decision.
