Hi, I had preeclampsia during my first pregnancy; this has worried me and have been put-off having a 2nd one ( had It quite severely where I nearly Lost my DD) keeping the story short..I was admitted in hospital at 27 weeks was closely monitored then got to the point where DD was distressed and had her at 35 weeks on top of that my placenta stopped working. DD had to stay in neo natal care for a month to gain weight as she arrived a month earlier... DD is 5 yrs old now growing up too fast and doing well only downfall she always ill every other month I assume it was because she was a premature baby... I am considering having baby #2 be good for DD in my opinion. Only issue my age is going against me; been worried about this for years..also whether to have the baby here or back home in UK the care I had on the NHS with DD was great cant fault NHS in my opinion. Apologise if I've put you off, H1983 Good luck..

Hi, I'm a British optometrist. I don't work here, I go home to work for a few weeks a year. I would be careful with a lot of the opticians here as the standards aren't as high. I'd say out of all of them vision express is probably the one I would trust the most. You have a high prescription so it's important to get it right and to get a proper health check of your eyes. Hi grassgreener, Thanks or the advice I am concern that my prescription is quite high, find the older I get the worse my eyesight gets.. I have been going to vision express at marina mall for couple of years now, would they be one of the better ones?? Otherwise, Im go home for the summer (UK) and hope to get my eyes checked there and get my lenses too.. Your advice is appreciated.

Evening all Anyone recommend a great optician. My eyesight has got worse (blame it on age lol) Have stimagism and my eyesight is -7.00 and -7.50 which is quite high. I wear contact lenses. I don't wear them longer than 7 hrs. When I put my glasses on I find am squinting at the t.v and computer screen...DH thinks I need reading glasses .. TIA

First - congratulations! It's so exciting and a little bit daunting, having to deal with all this stuff. I'm seeing Dr Ibrahim at City. Heard all sorts about him, but was happy to find that I felt really comfortable with him and that he was going to listen to me and do what I want. Go and check out City on one of their open days (think they are on Friday's) and see if you can meet with a couple of the Obs there. Most important thing is to go with who YOU feel comfortable with - not how everyone else feels. At the end of it - you're the one who's going to be having this thing and it will be coming out of you, so you need to feel ok and trust the Ob who'll be looking up your whojimmywatsit. Best of luck to you! Hi Philly Can anyone turn up to the open day at city (am not pregnant yet) but wouldn't mind visiting and have an idea and feel what the city hospital is like .. Thanks.

Hi cosmogirl Just curious what did you decide in the end. Like you am going through the same and planning baby # 2. I too, feel lot more comfortable at home (UK) and Im little worried at the same time, I'm also high risk my first pregnancy with DD was tough and worrying, I had pre eclampsia which I had emergency c section at 35 weeks ...

Did you try Raid ant and cockroach killer? We had some ants in the kitchen, hallway and on the balcony and spraying that got rid of them. The smell is nasty but it wears off in a day or so. Mmmm might try that..thanks!

Parking (metered) is easy, especially if you go in the morning. There are 3 large carparks which I prefer to the diagonal street parking which can be tricky backing out of. Go north on SZR and take the jumeira exit at Dubai Mall, following it around to the left so you end up heading straight for al wasl rd. turn right at the second set of traffic lights, signposted satwa. Go straight up this street, through a few sets of traffic lights. Once you hit congestion and shops you are in satwa. The carparks are on your left but dont take the first one (with the bus depot), use the second or third one on your left . The fabric shops are straight ahead of you once you are in the third carpark. Thanks cherry ripe for making it clear and simple x

Thanks everyone. Will give Engrid a call (quite few of you have mentioned him) I arranged for Hitches and Glitches to come round yesterday afternoon to quote me and guess what they didnt bother to show up. I rang them and asked them what happened? They just kept passing me on to different people and in the end I gave up and said Im not interested in them coming round and they have proved that their time keeping is unacceptable. Thats one crossed of my list! edited by Fr!zzyBusY on 03/02/2013

Does anyone else experience the same..my daughter (5yrs old) has again fallen ill again with Strep (virul and bacterial). For the last 4 months she has been on antibiotics twice and has been ill 4 times. Her attendance record at school is listed as "cause for concern" and I am at my wits end from tooing and frooing from the hospital feeling so desperate for her - it just seems that she spends 3 weeks feeling ok then bang she catches something else.. How on earth can I try and prevent or help this situation. Is it just her or does anyone else have the same thing with their kiddies. Roll on the summer where she rarely catches anything! Hi Nikkid I feel your pain. My DD of 5 yrs also has been sick and her attendence is worrrying me too. She also has tosilitis and chest infection atm. She was off last sunday and silly me thought she was fine and went back to school then over the weekend she was complaining of pains in the neck/throat couldnt sleep or eat and went to the hospital and she was diagnosed with tonsilitis and a terrrible cough which has now turned into chest infection and again on antibiotics! so fed up! I bet if we were back home in UK she wouldnt feel as ill. I was ill over a week and am normally a healthy person but since Ive moved here and season change I fall ill real bad. I was never like this in the UK. Hope you DD feels better soon. x

Morning all Usually LL has a maintenace guys come in but the last time they did a job I was not at all impressed and left the place messy..I cannot deal with it again. Anyway LL has given me the go ahead to find someone professional (if that exists in Dubai) The jobs that needs doing are: Kitchen sinks tap needs fixing grout cleaning between tiles sealant around bathrooms etc Much appreciated if some of you lovely ladies can recommend a company.. TIA x I have those sorts of jobs done by a handyman, don't think he is a contractor though, but I call him for all small fixing jobs around the house. He has always been very reliable and done quality work. ADMIN - Why have the contact details I posted yesterday on this thread been deleted? It was for a handyman who I know and trust and who has been recommended on here by many many other people? @Jacke Thanks will check the link... @Di Can you re-post the details again..Thanks.

I use Housekeeping, who are run by a British lady, although they are a bit more expensive, they are the best. Minimum is 4 hours, but the do everything for you, cleaning bbq's and fridges etc ..... I swoped for a month to EcoClean, OMG they were horrendous, I came home to then spend an hour tidying up her mess!! Hi Polly Thanks for the response. Can you post the number for Housekeeping, please?
