Do not wash them at home, give to dry cleaner only..i have given my expensive sarees to my daily dry cleaner and told him to take extra care. it was good. no special dry cleaner for this. Hi manubhadauria Thanks for that. Which dry cleaner company you use? Can you share please ;) TIA

ok I know there are bigger things in this world to moan about but... My lovely agency cleaner is booked to come at 11.30 today. Its a set time so I can plan the day around her coming, Freckles Jr's sleep, preparing dinner, school pick up, shopping etc etc etc. Lately she has been turning up at all different times (she comes three times a week).....this morning she arrived at 9.45. Not a big thing I know BUT its thrown my whole day out now. Wish agencies would just stick the the pre-arranged times or at least call to say there is a change. I totally agree. My cleaner the same schedule to come at 9am she turns up 9.30am ..once she turned up at 8.30!!:\:

Hi em2san Just called them they said they can take it away...thought they wouldnt be able to because of the chemicals sprayed on it..Oh well..one item off the list and many more to come..might as well do the spring clean while am at it ... I bet someone will be able to re-use it! Put it next to a garbage bin, and it will be gone within the hour.... well....that all depends where you live....I suppose you could not do that in AR, but in Satwa it will be whisked away in a jiffy. Am based in JLT...well i wouldnt risk anyone taking it. Ive had the pest control guys in.

Sham - bed bugs can travel b/w apartments :( Also if you have stayed in a hotel, they can hitch hike home in your suitcase. The pest control guys said it the start of the bugs nothing major. So I am assuming maids, taxi, nurseries or even what you said b/w apartments ...just typing this making me ichy...well we just had on treatment cant see any. They are back tomorrow...hopefully we can start putting things away hate living in bin liners..

@ Pinks I know its awful! I have now have to get rid of DD bed cot which still looks brand new. Would you know a company that would come and take it away. I was thinking of takemyjunkaway but I dont want DD bed cot going to someone which I want to throw out and cannot be used. TIA

Hi Sham!! The card will be posted to the address of the recipient - so yes,its an actual card. You can type whatever message you want in the card as the inside is blank. I found there are lots of cards to choose from with both the websites i used and with some of the cards,you can upload a picture from your computer if you want to add that personal touch!! Hi Sham they came this morning, very nice and efficent so fingers crossed it works :) Hi cakes I was just thinking abt you! Had mine done yesterday..absolutly nightmare not with the guys just living in bin liners and cant find anything you need arghhh..so far so good they be back on wed...so we slept ok bug free for now ...fingers crossed...gave loads of things to wash for the laundry and washing machine working 24/7! DH not going to be impressed when the DEWA bill comes... :\:

Found a few bed bugs mostly DD in room and a few in mine. So paranoid never had such thing come into our apartment. Was told by the pest control guys to take everything out for treating had no idea it was a huge job to do.. I have no idea how and where it came from we hardle have visitors all I can think of is the maid that I have round to clean ..DD nursery?? maybe.. we travel in taxi everywhere too Got so paranoid that I had to phone the cleaning agancy and ask how often they change their uniforms as they work at other villas and apartments. Am so OCD type person and so distressed that this has happened. The pest control guys said better to get everything out and knows its a nightmare at least it will be sorted. Didnt realise how much stuff I have to remove out from wardrobe, cupboards in DD and DH and mine room and ensuites...we have spent a whole day clearing things out for the the pest control guys coming tomorrow ...phewww ...we are so exhausted and we have to live like this until wednesday and then they are back for another 10 days :(

Last summer DD and I were away for 8 weeks! I dont think we will be doing that again. I feel its not fair on DH he says he doesnt mind but I dont believe him. So I might go for a short time and then back for his B'day and our wedding anniversary which is in August. Hopefully will try and do a bit of both short holiday to the UK and then another when we back and spend time with DH somewhere in UAE or abroad...will see.. BTW anyone know what date ramadan commence?? <em>edited by Sham on 24/03/2011</em>

Hi tallybalt Thanks for your reply. So the solution would to chuck the mattress away. What happens if you havent had the mattress long..it looks brand new we've had it for a 1 yr?? I will go by recommendation with National Pest and give them a call. Would you mind telling how much you paid for them to come out? I would want them to have a look at it first before I decide to have it treated am not sure if it is bed bugs ...just thinking about it giving me the ichy feeling .. I have noticed it more in DD bedroom she has a canopy over her bed cot and when I went in to tidy up and change all the linen there it was black tiny things lurking around at the top of the canopy, her cuddle toys and found black droppings on her bed sheets though DD has no bites. Which is so strange. I have washed everything and disinfect every where but am just so paranoid that its still there and every night before going bed am constantly checking mine and DD bed if there are any crawling around. I have the bites and the bugs was minimal in my room..so freaked out! :(

Am on a look out too, for lamp shades. Though, the other week I saw cream/beige ones in car4 MOE there were 2 left on the shelf so dont know if they have re stock. Try there. HTH

mahat, I switched from dr rita to Dr khan and thought dr khan was far better than dr rita (felt rushed with her) however, was going to dr khan for sometime and realised ever time I saw him he was on his blackberry while I was talking. got myself in such a state and worked up . then my second son got sick at 4 wks and was admitted to hospital where Dr Gupta see all in patients for Cooper Clinic. Dr. Gupta is amazing! You can text him whenever, he remembers everyone's name in the family, he caught my first son's anemia. He is great takes his time and is very patient. also, love cooper clinic cause of the midwife Debs she too is fantastic! I agree Dr Gupta fab, very friendly and caring.

what kind of info are you looking for? My DD is 5 and not in school here (but in my defence she was in JK in Canada, but it's not mandatory so we took her out for the year to come here) but she needs to be in school this coming September for sure, and i dont have a clue where to start. So i thought that this would be a good place. are there any specific places you want info from? i can pick some pamphlets or jot down info for you. Hi Emma You probaly left by now. Just wanted information about IB curriculum and Schools in general and advice about going back to work after 4 yrs and what options are there etc ..have so many ..so wished I was attending. We ve been going to Dr Khan.. but I am not really a big fan of him. For one thing he asked me to supplement my 6 month old DD with formula because it would be too much work for me!!?? Its my second baby and I would KNOW it if it was getting too hard for me.. Anyways thats beside the point.. WE had an AMAZING doctor in Abu hdbai and we are soo tempted to go there.. but DS (4 years) has a very bad cough.. I would lve it if someone would reccomend someone sweet and kind and nice and amazing with kids preferably near jumeirah. I live in ET DS is being send home from school today and I woud like to take him to the doctor today hopefully. Your quick reply would be appreciated!! DD with Dr Khan and we find him to be very good and always asks me to ring him anytime if there was a problem and always get call back asking how DD is feeling ...Hope you manage to find one in the end?

Why not book a Pink Taxi (women only). The drivers are female and appear to drive well when I have encountered them on the roads. You can book them through Dubai Taxi. Are there many of these Pink taxis...

Finally went to the play area behind saba 3. the downfall its a bit small and to think how many children there is in JLT. Had kids at the age of 10 yrs on climbing frames and hogging the swings. Though they should of made it bigger and have few more round JLT. The amount of kids that were there on Monday I was so worried my DD would be trampled on.

It is Saba 1. The one near Al Shera Tower; near Park n Shop. The one nearer JLT metro station. (As Saba 2 & 3 are near Marina Metro station). edited by Diamante on 06/03/2011 No, it's the Saba twin towers (plot Q). if you're walking to it from the Al Seef or Green Lakes towers it's the next plot after Q Mart/Chidas Mart. I've seen the one near Al Shera tower but don't know if that one is open yet. Thanks nayer I knew it wasnt as far as Saba 1 ... Glad am not too far from it :D I live in Al seef ....will check it out tomorrow.

Hi lulee You made a good choice. I was recommended by a teacher. Unfortunatly as I mentioned before the distance was the problem otherwise I would of signed up if we lived closer to DOGC. DD at her 2nd week at My little Gym. She stills needs getting use to it as she is not very confident atm and shy too. I paid 1295 for 10 weeks for 1 day a week for an hour. Let me know how it goes with your DD. Good luck.

We had a very unusual Valentines Day this time round it included DH DD and I. DH came home with take out and bought us as a family, XBOX Kinect! DD and I (mostly me) DD only 3 yrs old was excited and am so addicted! Though we did agree we wont buy each other pressie. Then he came home with a XBOX KINECT!! Though I miss those days when DH deliver flowers at work (UK) followed by a romantic candle lit dinner and of course a weekend away in London and watch a show and I get Jewellery too! I must say, I have been very spoilt in the past. DD in our lives now so we made it a family Valentines Day. Which I thought was very sweet and thoughtful.
