If you signed a limited labor contract, the company can ask you for a compensation of up to 3 month of your monthly salary. Visa's can be transferred only within free zones which doesn't apply in your case.

I guess the area near to TGI, Miska Cafe, Curry House will not be so busy and you have the full burj view but the main problem will be that the roads will be close very early (we expect 3/4pm).

Actually I dont have a clue how much we are paying for DEWA but it can't be much otherwise my husband would complain ;-) Chiller Charges are paid by our landlord. I guess that's normal in Old Town. There are 3 bus lines from Palace Hotel bus station F13 = Metro station, 27/29 = one of them goes to Gold Souq other one to Lamcy Plaza.

Old Town doesn't have a free gym. There is Fitness First, in den same building as Starbucks/Souk al Manzil. Some parts of the Qamardeen hear the call of the prayer. As well as there will be very soon a construction near to the DEWA Building/Mosque. The construction site between Palace Hotel and The Boulevard Building works almost 24/7 since months. As well as the on going contraction between Burj Al Nojoom/Burj Towers and Dubai Mall. Bus F13 goes every 15mins to the metro, but while the rush hours or weekends it takes ages to go with the bus to the Old Town Area. My personal record was 42 mins from Metro Station to Palace Hotel Bus station. There is another bus line in the backside of Old Town (Area of Burj Tower/South Ridge) from / to Business Bay Metro station which works for me better after 4-5pm weekdays. At the pools in Al Manzil aren't enough sun lounger, so its very hard to catch one. I enjoy to live here as its very green, quiet (as long as you dont live near to one of the above mentioned contruction sites) and a nice, well maintained community.

Its only possible if on the green slip there is any comment of the police that you got injured while the car accident. Had an accident last year and emergency came brought me to next government hospital, directly after the accident but the police man didn't mentioned on the report that I got insured. After I visited the police station at the hospital and the Bur Dubai one, I got advised that I had to open a civil case against the driver to get my money back because there is not remark on my green slip. Therefore I paid all medical expenses myself.

1) yes you can do it without problems 2) both parties need to be present and a new technical test needs to be done before transfer 3) tires will be check and if they are older than 4 years, you might fail or will just get a remark on the test result depends on the guy's there

I was an Expat in Cairo before the revolution and we usually going back to see friends one/twice a year. At the moment i would avoid Cairo and specially Alexandria and any destination at the Sinai. At the Sinai there were 2 months ago very dangerous floods and areas like Taba Heights, Dahab und parts of Sharm got destroyed. Additionally the situation in the north of Sinai will not help. If i have to choose a place for family holidays then only El Gouna (its a closed compound, even when its a city) or Aswan/Luxor.

Our landlord is "selling" and but we have already an evidence that he will rent to again after we will move out. So we still discussing if we will take him to court or not. Would be highly intersted if somebody went through all of that hassle and what was the outcome.

cook rice, lentil, small pasta, seperate. Cook a regular tomatosauce, a little bit more spice as usual, sliced onions until they get dark golden brown. Mix everything. Normally you get beside the Koshary a kind of Garlic-Vinegar-Mix and a Chilli-Tomato-Sauce. I'm to lazy to cook it myself as it never as good as from the Koshary Shops. Call the nearest Geddy (or any other Koshary Shop), take the big Koshary (at Geddy enough for 2) and save the headach of cooking it.

First of all you have the housing fee on your DEWA Bill (as far as i know 5% of your annual rent), then you might have chiller or cooling charges depends on the area/building you are living in, after all the regular DEWA costs.

For kiddie print fabric, Tahir has the best range in Satwa. Thanks Apricot. I'm not a big fand of Tahir, find them very unhelpful and rude. I happend to me serveral times that i wanted to have x design as i saw the 3-4 days ago. Sorry Maam sold out. After I searched for it 2mins and found it i'm getting silly and rude comments of the shop assistant. My favourite places are Srour, Najm or Champion.

It isn't the best choice but lots of plain fabrics, i haven't really looked for children's fabrics although I did see a dinosaur fabric in one shop. There are about 6 shops, most really helpful. There is also a place that sells ribbons, button, rhinestones and that sort of thing. I can spend a fortune in there. How are the prices comparing to Satwa? Is there parking? Sorry I'm not familiar with the area.

I would recommend Naif Bazaar. Just behind Naif Police Station, they have a big souk for fabric only. Great variety of fabric as well as prints at affordable rates. Thanks AHS, i didnt know there is a Souq for fabrics too. I'm not an expert in Naif but i know the police station but i remember there is an area with the Abaya Shops and the new Naif Souq Building. Is it somewere near by? Do you recommend a special shop? How much do you paid for a printed cotton per yard and jersey? In Satwa I pay 12 AED per yard, even when i'm buying 15 yards and more they aren't open to handle.

Stand your ground - you have the law on your side. We took our LL to court and the Rent Committee found in our favour so we have another one year tenancy agreement with no rent increase, although he has given us 12 months' notice but this was received 10 days' after the lease expired so I believe instead of vacating in April 2015, as he missed the cut-off date, we will now be vacating in April 2016. Weebles, when you won your case ? We were trying to open a case in Mai against our LL because he missed the cut off date by 6 weeks and RERA refused to assist as its "ok" as long as he will give us 12 month notice.

After that we received an email of our landlord to contact him when we are planning to move out moving out as we need to make a hand over to the "buyer". Legally we have to move out in 6 months !!! Were/how can i check if the flat got really sold? I found RERA unfortunatelly unfriendly und not helpful. edited by Gege_DXB on 11/06/2014

Due to the political situation in Egypt, specially at the Sinai I would avoid to travel to Sharm el Sheikh. By the way the Hilton Shark Bay got closed down recently because a British lady got raped of a hotel employee. We just came back of a nile cruise and it was lovely and very quite/safe. My Arabic husband was keen to go to Sharm but at the moment i would go there even when the vacation would be for free.

There is also an Arabic Restaurant in Almas Tower, looks nice from outside, but the parking can be an issue and its always very busy.

You will find a ATM inside of Geant, as well as in Q-mart. I stopped eating at the Shawerma Shop, lake level, after i saw them cleaning the kitchen knifes with the same dish cloth as they are cleaning up the dirt of the floor. Fish restaurant (its more a take away), Star Fish, is nice but very busy on Fridays. Izza Pizza is in the next cluster and its quiet nice, beside it is a persian Restaurant Farsi which is ok but i hate that they never have all dishes which are on they menu. edited by Gege_DXB on 09/01/2014

I'm also in a mixed marriage (European/Arab) and we are getting always asked for our marriage contract when while check in in a hotel within UAE. Even when my visa states already that i'm under husband sponsorship. Comment: Maaaaam - we need that for our records otherwise i need to book you in 2 single rooms. There is a big difference between tourists from abroad are checking in unmarried or a resident couple does the same, specially if there aren't the same heritage.

There was a sign in the Dune Centre on Al Diyafa that said apartments for rent, I'm assuming it meant in the Dune centre. We called the guy and he adviced the ad is wrong, there are only offices for rent. The best thing is to spend some time in the area and talk to the security guards in the buildings. There are some on Al Mina Road opposite the Al Owais building that are ok. A bit shabby, but lets face it, all the pretty one's are gone. Apparently quite a few apartments in the white building opposite the Dune centre have been done up. A friend lives there so just waiting for him to get a contact for me. last weekend we went to almost every single building between Al Mina Road and 2nd Dec and Satwa R/A and the only available flats were so awful and overpriced, 75k for a 1 BR, 2BR for 90k without facilities, so we gave up. The colourful apartment block on plant street above Chow King have recently been refurbished too and are quite nice. Can't remember the agent though so you'll have to go and have a look. Good Luck I will have a lot on this area at the weekend. Hopefully we can find something there.

No I don't think you are going crazy, maybe all the apartments are rented out - it is a very popular building. I know a few people are moving in shortly as they are busy repainting some of the flats. I understand that people are moving in/out and flats are quickly rented out but the lady (friend of a friend of mine) is living there, same complex, same floor, and asked today morning 9 am the security if the flat is still vacant as nobody is living there for months and they confirmed its vacant. I called in the management company in the afternoon and got advised its occupied since 2 months?!

Yes - there are at least 2 apartments that are empty because there is a systematic mould issue with the ac - if you open any cupboard in any of the apartments you can smell the mould - especially in the bathrooms under the sinks.... i spoke with the Real Estate company and according to her there is nothing free in Al Maskan 1 or 2. Lady advice there is a flat in Al Maskan 1 vacant since several month but even after i gave her the appartment no. she told me thats not correct. I'm getting crazy !!!! @Xenre I will check out this building tomorrow. Fingers crossed

@gege DXB. You need to dial 800 WASL Thanks but the Call Center is keep on telling me there are no free flats even when the security guys in the building are talking to them that there are flats vacant. Security is refusing to hand me over keys to see the flats, as there must be the approval of the broker or al Wasl first. So the question is who is the broker? Maybe i will be able to hold of him rather than wasting my time with the property company.

Does anybody know a know somebody at Al Wasl Real Estates? Yesterday we had a look at the new Al Wasl Buildings behind the Al Owais Buildings, the Security guys there are confirming that there are free flats but the Al Wasl Service Center doesn't have them listed and the Security can't show as the flats as long as they dont have an permission of Al Wasl Properties. edited by Gege_DXB on 19/08/2013 edited by Gege_DXB on 19/08/2013 edited by Gege_DXB on 19/08/2013

Its depends if the contract is limited or unlimited. I'm working also in a freezone and on a limited contract. Ii i want to resign before the contract is over the company can make me paying 45 days of my salary to compensate visa costs. Thats labour law within the freezone (not tecom) limited has nothing to do with visa costs all limited contracts incur the above whether Freezone or not. I know people on unlimited contracts that have paid back visa costs If TDB has a limited contract is legal, with an unlimited contract it would be illegal, therefore it matters if its a limited or unlimited contract.

The dinner cruise on bateaux Dubai is fabulous. The food is superb ( I'm sure their vegetarian option would be good) and you get to see Dubai from the creek. I loved it - very different and a great way to enjoy the sights. except this time of year when the windows steam up so bad you can barely see out of them !! lol I had my marriage party at the Bateaux in July and we didn't face that problem.
