Daisy, If your tenancy contract does not mention cooler charged, then I would assume its the LL responsibility. Actually is guess its the other way around as in the regular standard contact (blue contract) is mentioned costs like electricity, water etc. needs to be paid by the tenant.

We have agreement in the rent contract that the LL is paying for AC charges. I guess you have to pay for it as long as there isn't a different (written) agreement. Friends of us paying 720 AED Palm Cooling Charges per month for a 2 BR in JLT. edited by Gege_DXB on 22/10/2012

we call it the "toilettower" as there was there was always a very strong sewerage smell infront of the building (between bus station and tower). At the moment there is no smell but the last 2 years it never last for long.

Thanks Ladies. I'm not worry to not find a flat but I'm looking for something special which meet my expectations. I use our big gym/pool regular, Marina is around the corner where i used to go for roller skating. I'm afraid that in Deira i will get frustrated as its not green, quiet or any kind of options to take a walk outside.

I took twice a Pink Taxi from Dubai Airport and both ladies were friendly and polite but had no knowledge of Roads (Location Dubai Marina should be known by all of them) and i didn't feel safe with her way of driving. In the past 3 years i had only 1-2 awful taxi drivers, the most of them are very polite.

G, we have a dishwasher ;) Maybe depends on which ones you have viewed. Our open kitchen is open as there is a window type hole in the wall. If you wanted to close that up you could put a wooden blind - then it would be closed. must be the layouts you have viewed which are totally open. Oh really, 2 years ago i saw 6-7 flats in the Executive Towers. Honestly i didn't like the layout of the 1 BR our broker showed us. I love to cook so i want a biiiiig (and closed) kitchen.

My family had a villa in the Creek and Yacht Club for a few years and they were lovely and green, right near your DHs work, too. the villas are amazing but over our budget. I personally like the Festival City compound but a friend advised there is a waiting list for apartments there. @LDC Thanks for the information. I will have a look. @BettysHotspot I'm not a big fan of the Executive Towers because of the open kitchen and there is not enough space for a dishwasher @Kezzler/Cornish Pixie/hilsbils Thanks for the advice. After a horrible car accident my DH stop driving in Dubai and the journey to DCC will take him 45 mins one way by metro. I'm driving, so its easy to for me to reach my office in Jebel Ali. @sourskittleashnut I like the Sama Tower but there is no balcony, which is essential for us. @Majoe Are there facilities (Pool, Gym) in Shurooq?

I'm at the moment in Cairo and we leaving by today as the situation isn't stable. 1. Death of the soldiers in Sinai. 80% of the Egyptian soldiers has been send to Sinai to protect the area 2. Yesterday Morsi has kicked out the leading military boss and his assistant. (There are rumors that their planned a coup) 3. Water and electricity getting cut everyday for a couple of hours (We staying at a international hotel chain and we are facing the same problems. No AC, no water for at least for 3-4 hours a day) A friend of mine is working at the Iberotel Dahabeya in Dahab, its a very nice hotel but in Dahab the situation is more worse than in Cairo. Last week she has informed me the sewerage system broke down and since that time the sewerage floods some streets. I love the Sinai and have amazing friends there but i feel scared to visit them at the moment. My DH (Egyptian) decided to do not continue our vacation, so we are traveling tonight home to Dubai.

Finesse in JLT came very highly recommended to me from a friend for bikini/brazilian waxing. I don't know if they use cold wax strips, I don't think so. I had a so/so experience in JBR--I am trying Finesse next, myself. Finess doesn't use cold wax strips. If you go there try to avoid Shahida. IMO she good in massages but waxing is not her favorite. It happen with me twice that i had to return as she forgot some parts at my legs. The best bikini waxing i got was at White room, JLT, from the Indian lady (sorry i forgot her name).

I used to live in Cairo and don't like Alex. If you like to be near to a clean beach try to go to Ain Shoukhna (near Cairo) or Marsa Matruth. Areas around Alex are Agami (very nice, calm, clean!) and Marina (new high class area). Weather is very fine at the moment and Ramadan in Egypt is always special but while Eid it will be very crowded.

I think you have to have your ticket and hotels booked before you can apply, BM, so I suppose if you have that already in place, you can apply now for next year. I also believe that you have to fly in to the country from which you get the Schengen Visa, but that you can move around freely afterwards and you don't have to return from there. simpleasabc is correct. My DH gets usually a multi-entry visa, as I'm holding a passport of a Schengen country. The embassy advised that the first visa (tourist visa) will be max. 3 months, after that it will be max 1 years and then 5 years (max. for a non-resident). In general the embassy/consulate was very helpful but strict, all in all it took him 3 weeks for the first and 2 weeks for the second visa, as he is Arab.

He can be sacked as per his contractual notice. He doesn't need to be dismissed for a reason - it can be just be a thanks, goodbye...... sorry In case of an limited contract and proper reason he will receive 3 months salary as compensation. 2 months ago I got advised of Ministery of Labour a compensation will be paid (up to 3 months salary - unlimited contract) if there is no proper reason for termination. Just give them a call and explain them the situation. edited by Gege_DXB on 04/08/2012

Genie i don't think it was a communication problem. I got the contract several times explained from different persons, got it home, etc. I do understand what is the condense but if i will go individual it will work out cheaper for me. As Finnegan advised a max of 5 sessions are sufficient and i show up and sweet Katie is insist in 20 sessions and after discussion 10 are also fine. I'm asking my self where are the individual plans for every patient. Katie lied to me several times and I'm able to prove that. The Arab lady confessed (in Arabic to my husband) that Finnegan left because the new management of the clinic implemented new rules (contracts which needs to be signed to make more profit). End of the story my doctor at DBAJ will not transfer any patient to them after he confirmed my story with other Arab patients which complaint about the same things. Maybe communications problems as well???? (by the way communication problems is the favorite excuse of Katie) I'm happy that you are had a different experience but I spend lot of money at the center for nothing.

I can't recommend to move to JLT because of the traffic issue. The R/A could make your life like ****. Green Lakes S3 has a massive problem with maintenance since weeks we have dropping water near the elevators, mold on the panels since 3 weeks. Nobody is able to solve it as the property manager is for leave. Stepper in the gym never worked since 2,5 years, AC in the Gym doesnt work properly, etc.

I recommend the Atlas Spinal center in DHCC, in fact I cannot recommend them highly enough. I can't recommend them at all. I got transfered from Dubai Bone and Joint Center (DBAJ) to them, specially to Mr. Finnegan as my Doc of DBAJ doesn't trust in Dr. Katie. Scenario began with organizing the appointment. The Arab Lady from the reception informed me that Finnegan has left for vacation (I knew after my first visit that i was a lie) but i could make a new appointment with the new doctor but he wouldnt be licensed at the moment but is already working !!!! (I assume its illegal to work without license anyway). I refused to make any appointment. Again my Doc of DBAJ convinced me to try it as the treatment would finally release me from my back pain. He insured me to talk in person to the center and check all details with Dr. Katie. Ok - 2 days later i had my first appointment at the center with Dr. Katie. She advised that nobody of DBAJ give her my details and nobody was talking to her, even when i saw my medical reports + x-rays of DBAJ in my file. x-rays, first treatment with the machine done and directly after the treatment my back pain increased. She explained that is normal and it will go after i will take a rest at home. My pain increased dramatically, i wasn't able to move properly, cried from pain. My DH called Dr. Katie and she was speechless and couldn't explain the reaction but i should continue my treatment with them. Next day the pain got lesser. Second visit at Atlas Spinal Center Dr. Katie didn't answer any of my questions regarding the my pain. Her comment were: Everybody is different, so there could be pain. Strange that she didn't inform me about that before my first treatment. Discussion continued if i would be interested to continue the treatment which is very important because of my problem with my atlas i need to sign up a contract with them for 20sessions for only 19xxx AED (it was almost 20.000 AED). I refused because first i wanted an explanation for my pain. She continued talking and talking that 10 session for 8900 AED would be ok for the moment and then we will see. I refused again. In the end the new doctor came to convince me that I MUST sign. No luck. In the end the manager Terry showed up as I'm a Dubai Resident i MUST sign and its a MUST in there regulations . I explained that first i want to get proper explanation and then i will check with my health insurance regarding the treatment costs . He almost forced me to sign the paper as otherwise i wouldn't be able to see Dr. Katie again. I went back to DBAJ to talk to my doctor there and he explained me that with the whole thing is fishy. He transfered several patients to Atlas Spinal Center before and none of them ever had to sign a contract, all of them got treated with 2-7 sessions. The treatment might be is successful but I will not return to Atlas Spinal Center anymore after all whats happened. Sounds for my like moneymaking rather than a honest treatment.

Good morning, friends of us will move in 2 weeks with their kids to Dubai. The family (arab-western couple - if this is important) is looking for a villa in Garhood, Festival City, Jumeirah area or any other recommended area near to Healthcare City. Perfect would be a 3 BR + maid/study or 4 BR with a small garden/back yard. The father is already in Dubai and is struggling since 3 weeks to find something suitable. Any help or contact to a reliable real estate agent is highly appreciated. Thanks Ladies edited by Gege_DXB on 18/07/2012

If your single/couple then its ok. We have friends living there and trying to convincing my husband to move in their neighborhood. I agree totally with Hugsys for me i wouldn't be happt to live there as there is nothing around.

there is a new Italian Restaurant - Al Amor. Love the Pizza's there. Huge pizza's, even the medium one is enough for 2, prices are ok, taste good but not 100% Italian. my favorite is the homemade ice cream Restaurant at the lake level, near to Tamweel, Seef tower
