The post office is inside the Freezone. Take the exit when you can see Jebel Ali Metro station/Gallery Building is on your left. I think it was gate 4 but i'm not sure (it was my first time every in jebel ali). Ask the Security to guide you, i was lost inside of Jebel Ali, so not a great help :-S Working hours are 7.30 - 3 pm, very small, dirty and crowed Post office. For what it's worth, I've traveled to Cairo and although it is an amazing place to visit, even if I got paid double my salary, I wouldn't live there. Safety aside, the quality of life just wouldn't make the move worth it. I think most people would tell you things are still "business as usual" there, but of course, unstable, so it just depends what you're willing to "risk". I totally agree. I lived in Cairo a couple of years and my family in law and the most of my close friends are living there but i would never consider to move there at the moment. The trial of Mubarak is still going on, presidential elections in July etc etc. The situation is not really good. I know a couple (European-Egyptian), which sold all their belongings (house, company) to live after 12 years in her home country because she (Christian) feels not secure anymore. edited by Gege_DXB on 24/02/2012

We employed an new Senior Manager (57 years) last year and it took 2 month to prove that he is the perfect (and only) candidate to fulfill this role. In the end he got a regular visa for 3 years but the Management informed him already that his visa will not be renewed because of the hassle.

Traffic Chaos now in JLT from 5 pm onwards....thought new roads and roundabout would be a relief...opposite is the case. It is getting worse! Great Planning! Wonder were the planner from? If this will be now a consistent problem, it is better not to move to JLT or even move away. In EU Countries o.a. western countries they try to save on fuel, keep ways short as possible and do something for the enviroment, here it is different. Because of that stupid planning I have to drive always lot more because I have to go all around JLT just to get home and almost around whole JLT just to go back to Sheikh Zayed... I agree and i stopped driving to work now. Morning is ok but back home is a nightmare.

do u mean that that even for free parking i got to pay??? not for the designated one??? this is for sure?? OMG abt the breaking the contract one yes, it clearly states that i just give him a 2 months notice. but i wonder how can the notice be considered official.... I dont know how is the parking in your cluster but in cluster S (Green Lakes) we have been informed that the dmcc (JLT Freezone) will implement a parking system soon. Nobody knows when but we filled in application forms, incl. Plate number etc to get our reserved parking (our landlord is owning a parking space) and if we requiring a second parking it will costs as 5000 AED per year. So in case that there is no free parking areas around your tower you might be charges for parking if you want to use the parking of the tower. Clarify with your landlord or management company to whom you can send your notice. We forced our LL to give us his PO to avoid any kind of problems in the future.

mmm... i have his passport copy, but mobile phone number no coz he's hiring a managing company who will sign the contract and he's in the usa. i will get their contacts tomorrow when i sign the contract, but shall i include it in the contract? also a 2 yrs renewal is for my benefit, if i wanna go i will simply notify him [quote'> Are you sure that you can just notify him? RERA Law is not really clear in that point, so it must be very clearly mentioned in the contract that you are allowed to break the lease very easy. Keep in mind the things are happending with other tentants at the moment: Service Charges aren't paid = tenant cant use facilities, JLT will implement the new parking system, you will be charges xxx amount to get access to parking, Palm Cooling Charges will be increased as its happend in Park Island etc. I dont want to negativ but a closed friend is working in real estate and he advice me to sign max 1 years lease with a 1 month penalty to break the lease with a 2 month notice.

hello there :) sorry for intruding but can u plzzz help me with my questions??? my contract states automatic renewal for 2 years, but if i FAILED to sign the new contract i'd be fined for 2 months rental... i feel this is fishy... what do u think??? can they buy time and then fine me with 2 months?? also, do i need to state the agent or the LL's notification address in the contract?? i didn't sign the contract yet so i need ur help urgentlyyyyyyyyyy plz :) thanks for ur support LL's address/PO, passport copy, deep titel and mobil phone number is very important otherwise you can't catch him and need the help of the agent. I wouldn't sign a contract with a 2 years renewal in Dubai. You never know what will happend in the next few months.

Yes - i live in Green Lakes S3 (different Management than S1 and S2). Just make a search regarding Green Lakes in EW and see if its still an option for you. Actually you will not find so much kids in the Green Lakes, only babies and up to 2-4 years. I know that in the Tamwel and Al Seef Towers are many many families, same with MAG 214 (or 218??) in JLT.

Frankly speaking I live since 2 years in JLT and i hate it. The traffic is killing me and i even stop driving to work to avoid queuing in the evening. Few of my colleagues living in the neighbourhood and all are planning to leave JLT as soon as the rent contract is finished. Ok - enjoy taking a walk around the lakes but thats it. edited by Gege_DXB on 25/01/2012 i understand what u mean, but i'm in quite a good proximity to the metro station, so i believe my husband wont be using the car that often since he works in JAFZA. in fact we didn't buy a car yet nor extracted the driving license. but i want to ask u something, where r u intending to go to? dubai marina, the greens and the old town has the same exact problem. My husband is working in JAFZA too. The main reason to move to Green Lakes was the distance to the Metro station and it was at that time the only flat which was spacious and affortable for us. I looking forward to move to Al Majara/Dubai Marina. There is almost no traffic around, quiet, good location/building, close to Metro station, etc. Downtown would be the most horrible place to live in for me, to much traffic and everywhere tourist around the Dubai Mall. edited by Gege_DXB on 26/01/2012

I'm working full time, do some sports. Some sporty ladies might help give some input here. Which type of sports do you like? I realized when i meet up with Ladies and their figure out that I'm married with an Arab that I'm not a valid friend anymore. It seems that European/Arab, non-drinking couples are quiet exotic in Dubai. Maybe I'm meeting up the wrong persons ??? Try different/new flavours of friends :) No need to burn bridges. I go to the gym or for rollerskating in Marina but not regular. Anybody else interested to join? We have some closed friend from the home country of my DH and UK. All of them are in bi-national marriages, so we are able to support each other in critical situations. Back home i had friends from Indonesia, Turkey, India and other European countries.

if your company is canceling your work permit there will be a official paper of the ministry of labour. There will be mentioned if your are banned and how long, your signature will be mandatory to cancel your work permit. I guess you will be banned for 6 months.

I lived 3 months in Sharjah, very close to Al Qasba, which is a very good area for Sharjah. Anyhow i wouldn't recommend to live there for a single western woman, it is to traditional, no alcohol, a lot of families (mainly Arab or Indian). There is nothing to do except Al Qasba, the corniche and 2 shopping malls. Traffic inside of Sharjah is horrible. Only benefit would be cheaper rents and no housing fee.

Unfortunately I don't know who my landlord is, I have his name on the contract, but I've never seen his face. But I find it very strange that we are not able to get the owner's number nor from the agent or the management, there's something fishy about it. Security changing again, really? Dont you get the deed titel (hope that its the right word) when you signed your contract with Yousef? He handed it over to us. Who will gonna sign the security card application letter? Some informations and signatures are requried from the landlord. Gerard kicked the whole team of Green Lakes out to cut the service charges of the building. (This information were published in the elevator). Paul confirmed that Finion, maintenance and security will change by end of the months. I'm sure that we will get the same maintenance company as the Lake view Tower in JLT, as its is a close friend of Gerard. He mentioned that before this before while a telefon conversation that he will doesn't like the work of Finion and the other company would be much better. Lets hope it will get better and not more worse :-s

We usually get the Marhaba Service for my mom but its always a big headache as she doesn't speak English. My mom is over 60, so she cant walk very quickly and Marhaba refused to pick her with a buggy. Once she got lost because the Marhaba Lady run to quickly and forgot about my mom. Marhaba realized that my mom is lost on the visa counter. My mom called me up that she is lost and start panicking. I called up Marhaba Service and the lady was extremely unfriendly and useless. End of the story - my mom were lost over 1 hour in the airport, found her way alone to visa counter and to us. I called Marhaba to confirm that my mom is with me and got adviced to wait for 2 min, somebody will come to us. I thought they will apologize etc. - No the Lady from Marhaba came to ask if she can have a tip because she were looking for my mom all that time. I was speechless. Thanks god that my husband clarify the situation with her in Arabic.

I'm not sure if your landlord is the assistant of the crownpxx as i meet this tenant before in the lobby. Yousef was always disappearing when we had problems with our landlord (several things broke down in the flat, water leaking etc. and he blamed us for it.) and many landlords and tenants already complaint about him in the past and refused to deal with him anymore. Our landlord paid off all his debts in November but Mr. Finion still refused to give us the Cards. We applied in the end of November and until 10th December nothing happened. In the end he came up with stories that some papers where missing the application and he cant accept the application!!! He realized that after 3 weeks of submission. I check with him all the papers, everything was correctly filled etc. Anyhow after i shouted with him 10min he checked his papers again and decided to give me the cards. Paul informed me that the contract of maintenance and security Company will expire by the end of this month. We will get a new security and maintenance company by Feb. So i guess Finion will not be motivated to do anything anymore.

I cant recommend Salsa at the Marina Walk. Food was awful, Service worse. MirAmin is nice, food is good but nothing for the kids to do. Nandos - same as MirAmin. Stefanos - Foods is really good but people are sitting there mostly with a drink and a shisha. 2 Restaurants out of the Entertainer closed down a couple of weeks ago. Sorry i cant remember the names :-s I'm a big fan of Cafe Blanc in Marina Mall but not sure if there will entertainment for the kids inside the mall.
