Haddoota Masrreya is in the family entertainer. I adore the real Egyptian food as i was living in Cairo before we moved to UAE. @lamaaz Could you guide me how to go there? I saw the location map but i'm not familiar with the Safa Area.

Spekulatius is available at Spinneys. The Lebkuchen in M&S are the filled chocolatehearts with Jam. I don't know after which Lebkuchen you are after. In the worst case I will be able to bring you some from Germany.

I love to live in the S3. GGGGRRRRRR Starts with no treat miles and steppers in the gym, AC/Maintenance Issue continue with new security regulations and this night twice fire alarm. anybody knows whats happened? the security change their stories every hour. It is true that some tenants make a report at the police because of the totally drunk guys which were the reason for the first alarm? My husband and me ran down the stairs to find no lights on from level 13 to the ground floor. Would it make sense to call the municipality to complain about it?

Better Life Shop in Mall of the Emirates selling Siemens Coffee Descaler tabletts. There are small baskets with cleaning stuff near to the coffee maschine section, if you can't find it or its out of stock. Ask to order it for you, usually within 2-3 days it will be delivered to the shop.

@bussybee2 I dont might to apply for an ID and i dont want to safe costs. It was published that the ID will be linked to the immigration of Dubai in Summer 2012 and we applying for a renewal of a employee's visa and from one day to another - suprise, suprise. No ID - No Visa. What was published is correct but we implement different rules from x date because of no reason.

@busybee2 I'm aware about all this discussion about the Emirates ID and i know the process. Its new for me that its suddenly linked to the immigration, as i was mentioned it will not be implemented untill Summer 2012. Anyhow my visa will expire in 1,5 years - so I'm not in hurry but one of my colleagues couldnt renew his visa because of the missing ID. My husband and me were consindering going for a weekend trip to another emirates to arrange it there, rather wasting time in Dubai to get it.

Today morning we got a shocking news from our lawyer. 2 days ago the Immigration Office in Dubai implemented the role that if you want to apply or renew your visa you must have a copy of your Emirates ID. If you cant submit a copy the process will be not completed. One of my friends applied 2 years ago in another Emirates (RAK) for the Emirates ID and got it within one weekend. Does anybody know if that is still possible and the quickested option to do it?

Seller needs to bring the car, registration card, passport and passport copy (incl. visa page), letter if the car was financed by a bank, enough money for the traffic fines if there will be some - just in case ;-) Buyer: new insurance for the car, driving license, passport and passport copy (incl. visa page) technical test was 100 or 150 AED - i cant remember. All in all i paid around 360 AED.

As per my information She needs to contact the touristcompany (sponsor) who made the visa for her. The sponsor took the official responsibility that she will leave on XX date the country. The sponsor will go to the immigration to extend her visa. Usually it will costs an additional fee and some days to proceed.

I love Bab Al Shams. We regular go there for the sunset or a shisha in the evening. From Marina it takes as 1 hour driving. Very easy to find. Prices in Lounge Al Sarab: arabic mezza mix - 120 AED other starters in the same range Pizza starting 65 AED The duty manager took us on a tour to the Al Hadeerah Restaurant which is a little be fare from the hotel itself but i didn't like it that much. It's might be nice for tourists but price around 400 AED per person weekend/weekdays cheaper. edited by Gege_DXB on 16/11/2011

If you're Australian you can get very good money as a PA, 20,000 per month even. Try Charter House for executive office positions. I'm sure you'll find something good. Not now you wont unless you have vast experience in the UAE. Clients budgets have come right down when it comes to PA's... They want years of experience for far less money :-( I agree without any GCC experience its very hard to find a job at the moment. I worked couple of years for a multinational company based in Germany and for the same company in Egypt before i moved to Dubai. I had 7 years experience but no Gulf experience. I searched 7 months for a job and the most of the jobs i got offered where in the range of 8.000 AED to 12.000 AED for a PA, higher management, western eduated. Luckily i could find something suitable because of my knowledge in Arabic and German language.

From my experience, it will be just a waste of time and effort. Just do like all arab ladies of the families. Go with the flow (lead by the men of the family) and keep your thoughts for yourself. So i should give up myself to live in peace? IMO thats not the way i would be happy for the rest of my life, even when i love my husband. I'm married with an Arab and our key was/is - communication. My MIL hates me, even after years of marriage but the rest of the family adores me. Even I'm not moslem, I dont act like an arab lady - I'm still what I'm. Pixie mentioned that she learn to undersand the culture/tradition. I did the same when i move to the middle east (not because of my husband). My friends teached me what i right or wrong and i adapt myself in the new enviroment and it worked out very well. Otherwise my husband wouldn't marry me.

... a tenancy contract automatically renews if you dont follow the correct procedure for time and notice periods on your contract so its important for someone who is registered to check your tenancy . BBCB is right. We were lucky to figure that our after our landlord give us a 2 weeks notice to move out of our flat.

I'm Bavarian but not a big fan of Munich while Christmas. I would prefer Nuernberg. Anyhow you will go to Salzburg and there the Atmosphere will be fantastic, same as in Nuernberg. If you will travel with the German Railway (Deutsche Bahn), make sure that you book in advance and try to make a seat reservations. The trains will be crowded, as usual. If you are lucking there will be some kinds of offers "Europa-Ticket", otherwise there are Country Tickets ("Laenderticket") which will be an good option. Wish you a great time and I'm sure that you will enjoy it. edited by Gege_DXB on 15/11/2011

at the moment i would avoid going to egypt, specially to Cairo. The security isnt stable and foreigners arent welcomed at the moment. Weather will be awful, might rain and cold weater (approx. 10 degree). God knows when the election will start, as i know it was planned to be in December. I lived in Egypt a couple of years and i wished to go back to meet my friends but i scared to fly to Cairo. If you consider Hurghada, Sharm el Sheikh or El Gouna for vacation that should be fine and secure. Taba or North of Sina is amazing but in my opinion not safe as well.

Gege_DXB that is so incorrect. All of the gratuity is calculated on the last salary received by the employee, not each years salary! Please read Article 134 Gege, it will confirm it. edited by Snuffle on 08/11/2011 I'm not share informations which aren't confirmed by an local lawyer. He calculated the gratuity exactly in the way i posted it. In July 2010 an employee open a case against us with regards to his gratuity and we won. She lost more than 10.000 AED.

Crystalsindubai is right. Your EOSBs are calculated on the last salary received... [quote'> Not totally correct. Example: employee worked 4 years in the company year: 1-2 salary of 20.000 AED year: 3-4 salary of 30.000 AED Gratuity of the 1-2 years will be calculated on the monthly salary of 20.000 AED, 3th-4th year - 30.000 AED. Gratuity will be not calculated for 4 years on the basis salary of 30.000 AED.

[u'>by the way - if your total benefits are higher than your monthly salary its against the labour law.[/u'> So, what if the salary had changed during the course of a limited contract period? Surely, a new contract after expiry of that first contract will reflect that increase, but in the meantime employee monthly records will suffice to proof the correct benefits that must be taken into consideration for calculation of indemnity. In case of disagreement, the labour department will side with the employee. I'm not aware about limited contract as in our company all employees are working with unlimited contracts. I seriously question the accuracy of your statement in paragraph 2.[/u'> Our Emirati Lawyer, which is responsible for all goverment processes related to the goverment advice us to change the salary split of an employee because his benefits (Car allowance and Housing allwowance) are higher than his actual salary. If the employee will open a case against the company with regards to this topic the ministery of labour will settle a correct salary to make sure that the end of service gratuity will be correct and fair. Many companies filling in very low salaries to avoid high gratuity payments in the end of service and the ministry will not allow that in the future. edited by Gege_DXB on 08/11/2011

If your labour contract is wrong (lesser salary) the employee is intitel to get only the gratuity according the the salary mentioned there. Letter of the company is not enough. We changed all labour contracts after salaries rise to make sure that the gratuity is correct. by the way - if your total benefits are higher than your monthly salary its against the labour law.

Scott is a kind guy and helped us for several emergency catering for our office but sometimes the quality is not what it was used to be - old bread, not tasty etc. Our experience is that only certain dishes are good and tasty. His team is excellent and lovely. Always on time. Prices are ok but not really cheap. We tried it with Organic Food Cafe Catering and it was a disaster. This is the real reason why we still stuck with Yes Chef. edited by Gege_DXB on 31/10/2011
