asked them to do a deep clean as i think it has mould...... so not sure why a friggin' tissue was suitable..... Had a hissy fit!!!! deep clean with tissues LOL.. made me giggle. Reminds me of the time I saw a hospital cleaner wipe down the canteen table with a mop he had just been cleaning the floor with and another one spit on the floor in an attempt to lubricate a stubborn mark he was mopping... but neither of those things made me giggle!

Probably the latter... but at least they used something you don't mind throwing away. Unlike the poster (?SD) whose best facecloth they used!

Right - experiment completed. Left eye Rimmel - Right eye Boots No 7 At two coats both are equal volume but Left eye lashes longer At three coats equal in volume but again Left eye lashes longer 4 coats - Left eye starting to clump right eye still looking good 5 coats - equal volume and length but left eye a bit clumpy So if you only use one or two coats then the Rimmel is better but at 3 + coats the Boots is better as no clumping (thinking about it I think the blurb said you could use 7 coats without clumping) I have learnt something- from now on I am always using 3 plus coats - what a difference, my lashes look great! I never did before as with all previous mascaras found it made lashes too clumpy. Result! :)

I always used to buy expensive mascara, YSL/ Dior/ Estee Lauder etc but got fedup of buying expensive mascara that clumped, smudged or ran dry very quickly. I switched to Lash Accelarator by Rimmel (black tube - metallic green top) It is brilliant, great lashes and none of the above problems and it really does make your lashes grow. Being a sucker for a hard sell I recently bought the new No7 one from Boots - lash adapt- your are supposed to be able to put on 5 coats of it without it clumping. Now I only put on two coats, ocasionally 3 and it does not clump smudge or run. Both these mascaras are a fraction of the cost of the more expensive ones, which quite frankly I will never go back to. Of the two the Rimmel is my favourite though they are both great. Thanks for this. Which one would you say is more volumizing? If you are only using one or two coats then the Rimmel one, but as the Boots one claims you can use 5 coats without it clumping then I guess if you did that would be, I will try it out now and get back to you!

cat-lover sorry to hear you are feeling so bad but it may help to realise that you are going through what many of us experienced as insecure teenagers and is far from being abnormal. The difference between you and those who seem less insecure is that some are better at disguising it with bravado - which then becomes self affirming and they start to realise your own worth. Please do not take any notice of this boy's seemingly low opinion of you; instead recognise it for what it is - his payback for your rejection of him and a way of making himself feel better about it. You do not have to take on board his opinion of you, you need to learn to trust your own values and judgement. You showed good judgement and strength of character by not allowing yourself to be forced into something you did not want and that is something you should be proud of. Beleive me, you will come across men, at any age, who try to make you feel inferior in some way if you do not go along with what they want. The thing to learn is not to value their opinions, there are plenty of decent boys/ men who would not make you feel this way, the one's who make you feel bad about yourself are the ones to avoid - which you have sensibly done in this case so feel pleased about that. IMO you do not need counselling - I think this is a rite when growing up, learning to value our own opinion of ourselves and discarding that which makes us feel bad about ourselves. I think you should talk to your Mum instead of a counseller as a start- I am sure she should sympathize and give good advice.

I have had 3 very late deliveries with them from Uk over the past 2 months or so. In two cases the replacement items turned up before the originals (which is a real pain as I have to send the originals back). One item I ordered took 3 weeks to arrive even though I know it was sent out the same day I ordered it. In general I find it slow. I often get notification that something is in my PO box in Slough and I do not receive it here until a week later.

tricky as for many 10pm is not late (for noise rather than childs bedtime). Also how do you know that they are putting the child to bed at this time? maybe the child has a problem and wakes every night at this time? Personally I would not be complaining about a child crying at 10pm at night. Maybe swap bedrooms so your child is not in the one adjoining the next door apartment.

Ewww why is Cheryl (I cant sing) Cole singing with Gary Barlow? He deserves better . She was ****. He was fab! That was the first time I have heard her sing... and hopefully the last. If she spent as much time practising as she obviously did putting her eyeshadow on she might have sounded better.

Girls I've only been in the country for 4 weeks so I don't even know what number to call or who the RTA is until you told me :( I know now what to do in the future. Thanks for your advise. Fair enough, don't feel bad you were obviously put in a horrible position. FYI normally cabs have a sticker on the window (usually the rear passenger windows) with the vehicle's RTA reg and the RTA number (042080808), so you can call immediately and they will know which car and which driver you're reporting Thanks - I appreciate that ! Just be aware that some of the drivers pull the part of the sticker with their number on it off (it is in the upper corner). Well over 50% of the taxis I get in have the part with the taxi number missing. If it is missing always ask for a receit as it contains the drivers ID number as well as the taxi number, time and location.

canesten does help in thrush as i was having it for the last 3 or 4 months. pain and itching was becoming unbearable so i took a week course i.e 6 days med. along with canesten cream. but another strange thing has happened since i developed this infection. i remain extremely dry :( during...... so it is really painful. can someone help ???? sorry for putting another thing in this thread Sounds like you may still have thrush. There are some strains which are resistant to canestan and if you have had it for that long and have what appears to be symptoms of it still sounds like you may have one of those strains. There are more powerful anifungals for resistant strains but you really need to be checked by a gyneae if you have had it for so long. You can reinfect yourself through your underwear. You should only wear cotton as underwear needs to be washed on the highest temperature as only boiling kills the fungal spores if they are on your underwear / sheets. It is also possible your Oh is also infected and you reinfect each other (men can be asymptomatic). Your 3- 4 month history suggests this. You would both need to be treated.

It is not necessarily vitiligo, there a fungal infections whose only symptom is temporary white patches which clear up when the fungus is treated ( I don't meant the white plaque that is caused by thrush). Dr Hoshy is a visiting professor of dermatology from the US who is at the Dental Spa on Beach rd this week - he is excellent and has been recommended many times on this forum. Tomorrow might be his last day for this visit - you could phone the clinic in the morning to check. Otherwise I would ask your paediatrician to have a look - they are often familiar with fungal / viral skin problems in children. ETA forgot to add that it is called tinea versicolour and exposure to the sun makes the white patches spread. It can be easily picked up from swimming pools. If you google it you will find lots of info. Fingers crossed this is what it is. edited by Genie on 29/05/2012

Genie, I find it hard to believe that it is because of me buying the last 6 bottles of cordial that this is where it has all gone. I bought them because they are sold out everywhere. As Sue62 and hilsbils suggests I think whoever the powers that be are that decide what comes into the UAE or not, have decided this is just not on their list anymore. My 6 bottles hardly constiute taking stock as soon as it comes onto the shelves. A little melodramatic I think! It was a joke. Hmm - looking at our two posts I know which one I would label as melodramatic about buying fruit cordial!

Smelling. A. Rat. That is kind of true but SM's maid has been with her for a very long time if I am not mistaken. Sadly, in some cases, this does not signify much. I know of someone whose houseboy of 11 years cleaned out their whole house, and I mean of [i'>everything[/i'>, when they went on holiday one year! It's too bad to think that you can't even trust someone after all those years...:( They were totally shocked but tracked him down in SL as they knew the village he lived in. Can't remember what the outcome was though.

t Emiratis go to the UK for treatment rather than have it in the UAE. Go out of country for treatment as there is limited tertiary care here..... hence treatment in Germany, US and UK. I deal with this and believe me for a lot it is a preference even for a straighforward check up. edited by Genie on 24/05/2012

It is all relative, 26 is a scorcher in the temperate climate of the UK. Plus it feels hotter when you have no AC and the houses are all built to retain heat, bricks, insulation, double glazing, carpets etc.

There are entitled to their one month paid holiday, and then we have told her that we will give her a bonus on top depending on her performance during this year. So to summarize I have to pay [b'>1.800 (her salary), 1800 (her holiday), [/b'>1600 (her ticket) and the bonus on top plus the salary increase that will start the following month, when her new contract arrives. So yes, it looks like an expensive month! I have to say I am a little bit confused by this. So that means she will receive 2 months salary for one months holiday? How does that work? I have always been paid holiday pay, but that means that I get my normal salary whilst I am off - that is my holiday pay, not my normal salary plus an extra month's (weeks -whatever) pay. Is it different for maids then, do they get their normal pay whilst on vacation plus and additional month's pay? No - they should only be getting their normal pay. I think OP meant it was an expensive month because she will have to pay the previous months salary, then the months holiday pay at the same time before maid leaves? Just went back and read OP - it is because she will be working her vacation, makes sense now.

Hi ladies, I wonder if anyone can help me. My daughters passport runs out in September and we are looking to travel home to the UK in July. We wanted to renew through the Dusseldorf office but I don't know what to do regarding countersigning the photos because you need someone who has known you for 2 years to sign it for you and we have only been here 5 months. I am now worried as I was thinking I could take her back to the UK and have it done there on the day but I have now read you need 3 months left on your passport to go in and out of the UAE even if you are resident. Can anyone advise what I should do??? thanks.... Don't know about the countersigning but I have travelled both in and out of the UAE several times with less than 3 months on my passport. The last time was November, I also got in and out of Kuwait with less than 3 months validity left.

If it does what it promises would love to have one!...I dont have a full time maid and it would be be great to use it on the days of the week the part-time maids dont come in to clean. TIA I saw them in Lakeland at MCC a few months back. Quite pricy though. I know someone who has one, loves it and would not be without it. One thing I would check about Maze Tower... on the SZR side at night it has neon lighting along the height of the building, changing colours every minute or so, it's very bright. I would check that it's not going to annoy you, or that there's good blockout curtains/blinds in the apartments. Because if you lived on that side, if you wanted to enjoy the view at night you might also have to put up with the neon lights flashing on and off... hope that makes sense!! [b'>Good location though, the metro is so handy, one station down to Financial Ctr, 2 to Dxb Mall, 3 to Business Bay, 1 to Trade Center etc... can access the airport on the metro line. Restaurants/gyms etc in DIFC and Emirates Towers itself, a Lifco supermarket across the metro bridge, as well as Chilis, Wagamama, Burger King, Subway and local restaurants on that side. Also Al Maya on the DIFC side, not too far and they deliver[/b'>ETA: appears the neon lighting is on both the SZR and DIFC side. Just something interesting to share: Nobel Peace Prize winner "Tawakkul Karman," 'The mother of Yemen's revolution,' when asked about her Hijab by journalists and how it is not proportionate with her level of intellect and education, replied: "Man in early times was almost naked, and as his intellect evolved he started wearing clothes. What I am today and what Iam wearing represents the highest level of thought and civilization that man has achieved, and is not regressive. It's the removal of clothes again that is a regression back to the ancient times.'' I am sorry but even though she did win the Nobel Peace prize it does not mean her views on everthing are valid or correct. In that case are we to believe that everything President Obama says is also the right thing to do and correct - as he also won it.

I agree with CA - I would think as well as the expense they cannot fully guarantee that none of their food products or handlers have been in contact with nuts. I think any company would who did mass catering would be worried about the potential for litigation if they advertised nut free food (as well as your safety at 30,000 feet). Unless I am in business I never eat on planes, I always bring my own snacks so I can eat when it is convienient for me (and not be stuck behind a tray for 90 mins). It is easy enough and what I eat often looks better than the food that is being served anyway ;)
