yes its only parents and outside influences that put thoughts in children so young as this. They are too busy concentrating on getting changed quickly and not losing anything to worry about anything else really.

Have just bought "Emoflour" for my kids. Its red. It says adults and children from 6 years but my 5 1/2 year old has no problem swishing it in her mouth without swallowing. Was hesitant a first but shes ok. On the weekend we have also switched from Oasis water (after 4 years) to Nestle as it has Fluoride in it. We have been having problems with fillings to that would not normally have happened back in Australia with fluoride in the water. Hopefully we will prevent our youngest from having the same problems as her sisters.

I'm very similar to CaptainAmerica. I'm friendly to my lady and we talk about things going on but not chat on the friendly level. We always greet each other. Yesterday was her birthday so we gave her a present and a cake and sang Happy Birthday! She loved it. My chidlren love her and enjoy spending time with her. We are lucky she is great as I have had problems with two previous ladies who were not. When we eat out she eats with us, but not at the table at home when we do. My sisters maid however would always eat with them. If I become too friendly with her, I think it would be difficult to maintain that Employer relationship especially if I ever have to reprimand her which is basically never.

My husbands company never pays for his either. Unfortunately like everyone else its just one of those things! The days of being the "Paid-for" all expat are slowly disappearing and companies in Dubai are still tightening their belts.

yes in April /May it was installed. I cant say enough how much I love my kitchen. Cabinets and inserts all from IKEA, bench tops and splash backs we chose more expensive ones. Looks great and a dream to cook in! Ikea were very professional, installation and purchasing. No hassles whatsoever. Would thoroughly recommend them. All up from IKEA kitchen was around 30,000 ( or just under) and if you spend over 2000 dhms initially which you will anyway installation is free. What more could you want? Be happy to answer any questions.

We purchased a 4 bed in JBR in April. Love it! The maintenance fees are high compared to other developments but they are large apartments and the location is excellent. I don't believe the Empower bills are high, less I believe than places like the Ranches etc. So many supermarkets, cafes and restaurants here and the Marina is amazing. We have Marina view and its fantastic! I would avoid Horizon tower too as we considered that but yes had heard bad things from a friend who is an agent. Yes the prices are too good to be true. We bought so that the amount my husband is given in housing allowance is the same amount that we pay in mortgage. A win win situation! Its stressful and someone said to me it will be the most stressful thing you will ever have to do ( I know agree) but we don't regret it! Good luck!

Just a question, and as a mother of three who packs lunches every day why do people here feel the need to actually getup and cook food for their kids to take to school? I think it's part of the obesity problem where kids are eating way too much. What do the kids who have a cooked lunch eat when they get home from school? And what time do they eat dinner? I'm just interested as to why you need to get up so early to do this? I prepare the lunches the night before and don't have any issues.

we went there on Saturday afternoon, yes lots of people as being new its very popular. The pancakes were lovely and it was nice trying out a new place. I don't know what the original one in America is like but at the end of the day these type of restaurants are not gourmet and all very similar. The good news is that the next IHOP store planned is opening at JBR very soon. I know where I will be going for breakfast some days!

I have not tried it but there is a Korean/Japanese restaurant upstairs just near Indigo Funiture on SZRd near asafa Park. It's above a Korean supermarket which is great. Have bought things from there and it is very popular with Koreans and japanese so I think It could be quite authentic. Sorry cant remember the name.

We moved from renting in Shams to buying in Sadaf. Love it!!! I would recommend Mujan over Bahar. I have a friend living in Bahar who sys the quality is not that good. I think that whilst the development is going on Murjan would be the best end to live as the Ritz Carlton development is nearly finished. Also I believe getting in and out of Murjan capark, side exit especially very easy whereas Bahar you re in the middle of the tram development and it will get worse before it gets better. You have two big upper markets to house Tom, a gourme one which is great and Almaya. Go for Mujan!

I can't believe looking at that model that there is really still going to be so much beach left once this is completed. The restaurants currently on The Walk will suffer for sure. I think a lot of people coming back from holidays will get a big shock when the see the fence.

Yes all the info about renewing on the website, if unsure Speak to the consulate as you have to call and make an appointment. No waiting, I cAlled yesterday and got an appointment for wednesday morning. Just make sure you have everything filled out correctly or you will have to go back again. It usually only takes round a week to have your new passport.

We loved it when we took visitors in Feb, I think it would be quite hot right now and maybe you would not enjoy it as much. A great place to take visitors for a bit more luxury especially if they don't want to do dune bashing as you get the up-market desert safari feel. Last time we went we saw Sheik M as apparently he loves to hang out at Bab Al Shams. He was walking out of the entrance of Al Hadeerah as we were going in so that was a nice surprise.

I found that in Yr 4 they still need a bit of help but are starting to do more on their own. By Yr 5 my daughter will go and do it herself and just come to me if she has a problem. My other Yr3 daughter still needs quite a bit of help when it comes to collecting information, but shes a dab hand at Power points and other stuff.

Thats not entirely true about everything in Australia being more expensive. Lots of things are expensive there but things like electrical goods are way cheaper than here, Ipads and laptops etc... you can buy a loaf of bread for $1 in Oz and 2 litres of milk you can get for $2.00 so it just depends, but yes other things there are very expensive. I agree with clothes though as when visiting London recently I bought GAP dresses for my daughters for GBP10 and the same dresses here were selling for 250 dirhams...ridiculous...

Im talking about apartment sizes, but unless you pay an absolute fortune ,most apartments are very small, a lot smaller than here. My in-laws live in an old landed property terrace house which sometimes are not too bad in price if they are further out at say Bedok or a few MRT stops in. My husband is Singaporean and we go back once twice a year. I have lived there as a local. Your children for being mixed race will definitly not be singled out, if anything they will blend in. The Eurasian community is Singapore is huge and Singapore is such a melting pot! How I miss the food, we are going back at Christmas again for the usual *** out! Oh and a lot of expats are sending their kids to local schools these days so that they can learn Chinese. Just be aware the schooling is a lot harder than here and they do push the kids.

yes Holland Village is a great place for expats but more expensive than other areas due to the number of expats there. If your husband is working near Bugis MRT thats a great location ( I like Bugis, great food court and shopping area there with Japanese Department store). There are many great new Condos with full facilities ( way better than here) that are dotted all along the East Coast. The East Coast also has great walking areas and parks. I would live there if moving back to Singapore. Anything around Lavender, Bedok also popular and not too far from Bugis. Keppel Bay look good and right near there but very small inside according to a friend.

Whilst in the UK last week I read this article. The writer definitely made me think twice about ever having my children see it until they are of a certain age to watch it! The line has to stop somewhere and I'm sorry it has to be with parents allowing their kids to watch it. I'm talking about children under 15. I also saw a tv show where a mother said her teenage kids were off making bows and arrows to hunt each other like in the Hunger Games" and she thought that funny???? An interesting article anyway.... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2122524/The-Hunger-Games-Its-film-child-wants--violence-disturbing.html
