Not sure how the replacement would work, but I presume that if you still have your receipt you would have to go to one of the places where they issue them. Don't bother going down the EID route as this still doesn't work :( If you have certain new passports you can get them authroised next time you fly in and use the same route as the egate card. We did this with our British passports last May when we flew back into Dubai. Took a while to get sorted, but no longer than it would have taken us to get through immigration with the masses. Unfortunately we haven't flown since then so I can't tell you how easy it is to arrive now.

There are two JVT facebook pages which will give you all you need to know. There was a book club which I think dies a death. Loads of things for sale, garage sales the lot. One is Jumeirah Village Triangle and the other Jumeirah Village Triangle Residents.

We must be such bad cat owners..... Over the years of having numerous rescue cats, they have always just been dropped in at the deep end and allowed to get on with it. Yes there has been some hissing and spitting, but it has been more for show than anything else. We have just fostered a kitten this last week and she is now ruling the roost with our other two cats, and the two dogs, all having to accept a minature "Speedy Gonzales" taking over :) Geordie , i did the same thing when we first got the new arrival , however it went far more than just hissing and spitting. I think some cats get along with each other faster than others Could be the breed I suppose, or you've just been unlucky. Has it been neutered?

In a previous role I worked with a Syrian and he was more than happy to allow me to eat and drink in front of him. In fact he positively encouraged it as he said it made him feel better :) As far as my friend is concerned it seems to be HR making her feel bad as an email has gone round the office asking us to stop eating and drinking at our desks. Although on checking with her colleagues there is no one fasting on her floor.

We have just used ProMove to move from one villa to another and I can highly recommend them. Very professional and I had not a thing to worry about. All the packing and unpacking was done for us, the cooker was wired in and everything ended up in the right room. http://promove.ae/

Hi, I was just wondering if there was any more information about this - anyone else moved to Mudon and got kitchen appliances? Probably not. If we do move (hopefully) we will have to try and get the oven cut and just get a seperate microwave. We gave up in the end and rented elsewhere. I wasn't prepared to spend all that time and money on someone elses house, especially when we knew if we ever had to move we would be very unlikely to be able to re sell them.

We really liked Little Governor's camp. The main difference in camps, I think, is how the safaris are organized - at Little Governor's you get assigned your own car and driver and can go out as often as you want and at whatever times you choose. They made picnic breakfasts if you wanted to go out super early and see the animals at their most active. The camp is fence-less so at one point we had elephants wandering through the camp and at night, we could hear the hippos foraging outside our tent. But they took security really seriously and we never felt threatened at all. If you wanted to go somewhere in the nighttime, they had a flashlight to signal the guards and they would escort you. Really great experience. Thank you for this recommendation. Someone else mentioned it in a conversation I had yesterday, so it's now top of my list to check out :)

DH and I are thinking of spending a few nights in one of the Safari Camps in the Masai Mara. Can anyone who has done this give me any suggestions. I have tried google and trip advisor and to be honest they all look much the same, unless I'm missing something. Thanks

Hi, I've been meaning to research into the teeth whitening myself and also did the home gel trays back in the UK! What do you pay here for it from the dentist? I pay around AED500 for 4 syringes of 10% gel

Depends on the method they use. I had mine done a number of years ago in the UK. The dentist created a proper set of trays to fit my teeth and I bought the whitening gel to use myself at home. I still do the same over here and do it every couple of months, leaving them in overnight. This way you can't get gel which is too strong.

Now I want to try Giorgio Armani 's foundation! I tried Gucci in Harvey Nichols in the weekend, it looked amazing I was thinking that would be my next buy. I am one of those that can't live without foundation (sundamaged skin). I do still like Clarins as well, as they are more of a skincare brand I think it works well. I have used Clarins for years and just changed my routine as I have got older. One thing I found recently though was that full foundation just does not work, especially since I have reached a certain age !!! and am living in such a hot country. I bought some of the new BB Cream last month and personally I prefer it to anything else they have brought out :)

i rescued a persian cat today from a neighbour who didnt want to incur the high food bills after the vet advised to switch to hypoallergenic as the cat has blood is its poo. He said i have taken it to the vets and he is still not cured . Time to get rid of it !!! Too much trouble !! Well done to you for saving the cat :) Regarding the food it may be worth trying the Pet Shop at DIP, they also deliver, as they have a loyalty scheme where you get a discount off pet food every couple of bags or so. I have to agree too. I see a few people with numerous pets they have adopted out here and wen I ask "what would happen if you have to leave suddenly" they always say it won't happen to them!! I have also been asked on a number of occasions why I don't adopt any more to join our 2 dogs and 2 cats we brought with us. Much as I would love to I have the money to take ours with us when we leave, can afford to kennel them if/when we have a holiday and can always afford the odd extra vets bill.

For those currently banking with emirates NBD can you tell me please if they have any good rewards/discounts/points? I've got a Master Card with them and the points I accumulate can be converted into shopping vouchers and other things. Just got DH AED1000 off a pair of made to measure shoes. They also give free transfers from your current account to any other banks account in the UAE and the Shake n Save savings account has a decent rate of interest. Worth checking all the cards on their website.

We were told it can depend on a number of things. Has he done at least one full tax year out here? Also I believe that he can be taxed on what he has earned so far this year since the start of the UK tax year. If I was you I would ring the tax office and get an answer directly from them.

Sorry I can't help with the answer, however, I was just about to ask the same question. I also have 2 black bags containing garden waste outside my villa in JVT that has not been uplifted, I have previously put out extra bags of household waste that was taken. It looks like it may not be in their remit to take garden rubbish. Garden waste in JVT needs to be taken to one of the skips which are all over for this purpose.

hahahaha!!! Anyway, I think it's easy for us all to get fed up when the heat starts, the traffic is bad, people are grumpy, kids are tired at the end of term etc. It's actually a good time to start writing your lists for the Summer. Doing all those things you never have time to do during the Winter months in UAE as you are never home as there is so much on every weekend. Start filling in your children's scrapbooks, tidying up your cupboards, filling up your Ramadan bags to give away, sorting out toys and puzzles, getting school uniforms labelled and ready for next year - it doesn't sound exciting but it is nice to just take that rest and down-time. Before you know it, it will be September and we'll be back to rushing around, getting Halloween outfits organised etc. Make the most of your peace and quiet when school finishes. :) For one horrible moment I thought you were going to mention the C word there :quite:

Apart from the kitchen issues, which I couldn't face going through as I work full time, I felt that the townhouses were on top on each other. Also we don't really need the 4th bedroom and the living space in Falcon City is more what I was looking for.

Hi Ladies, Wondering if anyone has visited Iceland, or even better, is from Iceland? We're looking at visiting in August, a trip built around the Reykjavic marathon, so staying for 2-3 days. Any suggestions for an itinerary besides the geo-thermal pools & bird watching - I'd love to see a puffin! Hoping to hear from you... If it was only seeing puffin's you wanted, there are a couple of places in the UK where you can almost feed them by hand :)
