I've cut back my manicures to about every six weeks and just have a polish change every couple of weeks or so and that seems to have helped.

Now this is in a mall BUT it's different. Taste Kitchen in Mercato Mall offer a good lunch deal, the restaurant is run by Nick and Scott who used to run Table 9 at the Hilton, so the food is good. Completely agree. Taste Kitchen is something different and fabulous  But she did say DIFC

I bought a Jessica base coat to strengthen my nails and quite often just wear that in between polishes. I have found that wearing a couple of coats and no colour on top has definitely done my nails some good. it's strange though as my toe nails are very strong, so I have discounted having something deficient in my diet as the cause.

Are you saying I can use a British passport chip at the Dubai e-gate? Yes but you need to register it the first time you go through. We did it the other week on the way in. Fingers crossed it will work ok next time.

This is a great thread! We are looking there too. Is Greens the same as Green Community? Thanks. The Green Community isn't that far out. It's just the next exit off the E311 SMBZR, atfer Motor and Sports City. The new airport is a good way further out. The roundabout getting in and out is a bit of a nightmare just now as they are making loads of improvements to the access. Once that's finished it should be fine.

Hi GE, I use dubai housekeeping as a recommendation on here in fact. I just asked the maid and she said they go to falcon city/ dubai land....min 4 hours though. Param is the manager 055 4453455 I know he hired more staff so trying maids to find the ine you like is the trick I think. Thanks for this. One question though. Would you be happy leaving your keys with the company and allowing the maid to let herself in and work alone?

Firstly, put the wife on the husbands visa so she can get treatment here Secondly, who's name is the debt actually in? Is it credit cards in joint names? Personal loan? Overdraft? Can the husband take a loan from the company to pay off the debt and then the company deduct each month? The OP said that the Husband has lost his job so I doubt she can go on his visa Is the whole family on a travel ban SL at the end of one para it says the husband has now found a job, perhaps he can get her on his visa

Thinking of signing up to this, but how does it work when the items arrive in Dubai - are they sent to a central facility where they are collected (like a warehouse/post office equivalent) or shipped directly to your home address (would you need a PO box?). TIA I use my work address but I have heard that they will deliver to home address too. Ask the oracle SarahLou

Mmmmm, mushy peas (and curry sauce!) Haven't been home for ages and won't be for a few years :( Rock n Sole Plaice at DIP isn't a bad chippy but they don't do proper fishcakes either ie not them rissole malarkeys. I hate mushy peas YUK Rock and Sole used to be good on Al Wasl but I don't think they can ever get the chips right here and their curry sauce was awful I make my own curry sauce with Jamie Olivers recipe and it tastes just like the chippy one at home How can you hate mushy peas ;) Coming from a seaside town with one of the best fish and chip shops ever, we've tried all over Dubai and nothing is ever the same twice. Hence cook my own :) Whitby especially :) Colmans of South Shields

I was just going to say the same thing. We used a company called Currency Index and they were brilliant. The young lad even rang us to say the transfer may be a day or so late, if that was ok with us, as the rates were on the up  And it was all done online and via email.

We just told our landlord that we would take our cheques to RERA and that they would issue the contract and give him his cheques. We had a new contract within 48 hours and he took our cheques without any questions.

We've used all three Catteries mentioned above (DKC, Posh Paws & Churchwoods) and have to say DKC wins our vote by a mile. Both of my cats came home distressed after staying at Posh Paws (on several occasions, not just once), and it does take about 40 mins to get there. The kennels & cattery are merely a money maker for the (amazing) animal rescue work the owner does. I personally found Churchwoods miserable & depressing and found the owner kind of disinterested in the cats. I think DKC is a bit more expensive than others but the staff do seem to genuinely care and take an interest in the pets staying with them. You are getting me worried. I have a dog that I booked into Posh Paws and already paid a non refundable deposit after our usual kennel was fully booked. Has anyone visited the actual site where they have the kennel? I ordered transport for my dog, so will not see how he will sleep etc. Sorry I haven't see the kennels as the cattery is at a separate location and as I've said the last three times we've used them ours have been fine. I do have a friend who uses the kennels regularly and she has never reported any issues.

If DKC can't fit you in try Posh Paws. Our two go there regularly while we're away and always come back chilled. We've tried both and nothing against DKC, who are great as they did all our relocation, but PoshPaws is a lot quieter.

It was just a foodie feast.. Which (lets face it) is one of the biggest attractions of iftar... all that fabulous food. What's the difference then between Iftar and every Friday brunch? Apart from the obvious no alcohol, I would never compare an Iftar to a Friday brunch. I am not a Muslim, but I treat an Iftar as something special and very different.

How cryptic - why would you drive around JVC at different times of the day to see what the traffic is like? Having lived there for 2 years I have not once had a traffic problem. Although there are some mad drivers that do speed around but they are everywhere in Dubai. Personally I think its great and according the fb page, now Spinneys has opened there, life is even better! And the speeding drivers was why I mentioned this. We have lived in JVT for the last three years and it hasn't improved there, if anything it's worse :( Having visited friends in JVC and viewed properties there I would check what it's like and how the roads near to where you want to live are used. Just being honest for the OP

I can confirm that there are no fees in subsequent years. They have also been fairly flexible in the past with number of cheques..... Its not cheap for sure. But it is very good value for the area and the size of house. Worth a look.... Thanks for this. Looking at the FAQs on their website was a little offputting. I'll give them a call and see what they say. Do you know the rough rental for a 3 bed please?

All looks great apart from the 10k deposit for a villa!!!!! Not bad if there isn't an agency fee. A one time fee of 5%, 2 cheques, and 'You will also have to pay a fee of AED 150 per cheque for any post dated cheque', which I presume means that if your deposit cheque is post dated that's extra.

Can someone please recommend an Iftar that is really good? This is my first Ramadan here and Id like to try some. Thanks I would definitely recommend the one at the SMCCU|Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding. Not only is the food lovely, but the discussions and everything else it entails makes it a perfect first Iftar.
