A lot depends on how he likes his coffee. We have a De Longhi bean to cup which we brought with us but it is amazing and they are available out here. We have also looked at a Severin which is available at Plug Ins at Festival City. Cost is around AED3k, but it's a fab machine and once ours gives up the ghost that's our next purchase. Both make fantastic espressos, lattes and cappuccinos. Just to add, we have a Nespresso machine at work and I find the coffee a bit like dirty dish water. As long as your DH is prepared to stick by you and back you all the way, I would send it. He absolutely does. He knows what she is and exactly what she is like. He agrees with everything I have said but for some reason over the years he has been weak and not said a thing thinking it will blow over. So she thinks its me when in fact he thinks the same. He knows exactly what he needs to do and say. To be honest DH has never spoken to his sister for about 10 years and his mother has always taken her side. We haven't really seen or spoken to his mother properly for nearly three years now thanks to his sister. Yes we still send her presents for Christmas and Birthday, but all we ever get is a one liner back.

I've changed to Agadir Argan Oil Shampoo and Conditioner. I still have a small amount of hairloss while washing my hair, but nowhere near as bad as it was when I first moved out here. It seems to just be the same as it was back in the UK. Yes it's expensive, but it's available in the likes of Spinneys.

Most of ours is from Home Centre. We've had it for almost three years now and it's fine and we have two dogs and three cats!!!

You've got me thinking about this now, even though we're not planning to go anywhere for at least another couple of years. In all honesty I think we'll leave with less than we brought with us. I shipped out all our kitchen utensils etc, personal items,pictures and books etc and majority of our clothes. On return I think I'll take only the pictures, books we can't do without, clothes (but not all of them), personal items and one piece of furniture we've bought here and I love. Oh and of course the menagerie, will definitely be coming with us :cat::dog:

Thanks, at least they're working on it :) We're planning on coming to have a look in the next couple of weeks and kitchen appliances will be a biggie for us as our present villa was all fitted out. The garden doesn't bother me as all we'd probably do is pave it with a small border. We had to do the same here in JVT

At the risk of sounding like a psycho, my only "must-do's" are shopping and [b'>sharpening my knives![/b'> I wanted to golf tomorrow but looks like it is going to be massively windy. All the claritin in the world can't save me in this case. Love this :) Can you give us an idea on the area you live in, just so we can avoid it ;)

less than 7 hours and the weekend will be officially here.... I may pop down to the Lit festival but mainly will be merging with the sofa and watch CWC..... :) What is CWC? What I read was that the laser destroys the mole and so you can't have it tested to check if it's harmless or not. The doctor never mentioned this, so either his laser is different or he's just after making a quick buck (and he's known for this). To be honest I'd probably go for a second opinion

All I would ask is does the laser actually remove the root of the mole. The last one I had removed was like an iceberg, much more below the surface than above.

I don't have an objection if the LL is genuinely trying to sell the property as vacant. The problem is that majority of them use this as an excuse to rent at a higher price. We've seen it happen to a number of our friends and neighbours. They move out and within days a 'for rent' sign goes up. And yes, so far it's always been the old LL

Totally agree with CatawbaKSE. If you want a good hairdresser, you can't go for a particular area. I personally use Essentials on Al Wasl Road. All british stylists and fab hairdressers.

We've used Positive Paws in Al Quoz for the last three years for our two and they love it. I've also heard about one out at the Green Community DIP, Urban Tails I think it's called and they have suites for your dogs and web cams so you can keep an eye on them. <em>edited by Geordie expat on 02/03/2015</em>

Just had a visitor and we did Bateaux Dubai, which has improved since last year, so if you can make it it's definitely worth the trip. Also had afternoon tea at At.mosphere, lovely and again an improvement on last year. I know you say she's fussy, but if you want a boat trip we took the water taxi from Dubai Marina down to the Creek. You can either sit inside or stand at the back. Not expensive, but good. Somewhere for really good food is the brunch at Desert Palm. OK so the views are of the polo fields, but the food is amazing. Hope this helps. If I can think of anything else we've done I'll let you know. Just a little exhausted today after a 4am airport drop off :sleeping:

Sorry can't help with the driving while in between visas, but I would think that it's perfectly ok to do so. I was told that if we leave Dubai we have 30 days grace in our next country to apply for a licence.

Something similar happened to DH after we'd only been here six months. His company decided that they no longer needed his services and he was finished at his six month review. This left us with a zero pay check for that month and still owing them half the rent allowance they had given us. We were lucky as HR were not happy with the way he had been treated and allowed us to keep our visas for three months, as I was still looking for work. They also issued him with a repayment plan as part of this, which was to pay it back over three months, but not for the first three months. We were lucky as he found another role within six weeks and we managed to repay the debt. If we had ended up having out visas cancelled and returning home we would never have been able to repay the money. I have a feeling that HR knew this, which is why they gave us a breathing space.

My husband bought me a one-of-its-kind lab created longhair type dog - I am hazy on the details as my collections are so vast - and it is of such a high quality pure breed it only pees Evian. We use it to water our prize winning Black Orchids and I swear (oo there I go again) they started taking the **** out of every other entry at the Annual Flower Auction for Prized Blooms. Thats the problem with the noveau riche as they say - they dont quite know what to do with their money. For chump change like 60,000 dollars I'd have ensured the cat had rhinestones for eyes at the very least. Bengals are not the same as Toygers, although the breeding concept is the same. Take a bunch of cats with a certain trait and keep in-breeding them to get the desired effect - in this case they took a bunch of bog standard tabby cats with stripes. Did you know the original breeder of the Toyger bred them to raise awareness for the conservation of tigers? And they're not rare - common as muck these days. *there - you've been educated*. edited by FairyDust on 16/02/2015 On looking closer I think I prefer the Bengals.
