My husband bought me a little Toyger, that is a domesticated cat that looks just like a tiger. They are very rare and very expensive so little Hurammi will be a house cat. I also recievied a Roberto Coin White Gold 5 Diamond Station Anklet. Not rare at all HAHAH - going to be fun in a month to see if she can cope. I think we paid just over a hundred quid for our monster in 2008. Just as an aside, he is the most badly behaved cat we have ever had and they hate being only pets. Totally destroyed our new curtains when we moved out here, just beacuse we wouldn't let him out straight away :evil:

If you already have a UK HSBC account you can do free transfers of you open an HSBC account in Dubai. I would double check on this as it may be Premier customers only who get free transfers

Hey there, not sure if this is correct or not but I do not think acupuncture and dry needling are the same thing! I have been getting dry needling using acupuncture needles and the treatment is to stick the needles directly into the tendon to agrravate it a little to encourage repair, ie the injury triggers an increased blood supply to the area and therfore hopefully repair the original damage. I think!! It is very painful but short term. Acupuncture is, when I have had it, not at all painful and is more an holistic treatment, quite different. I could be really wrong here but I do not think they are the same thing!! I don't think they are the same either. I have dry needling from my physio to help take the knots out of muscles I am learning to re use. As Noddy2 said, it's very painful and normally you can only stand it for a matter of a few minutes, if that :cry:

DH opened a savings account on arrival before his visa was processed. Are there only a couple of banks that do this? I only ask as friends tried and I think only ENBD would let them We are with the dreaded H**C back home and he had no problem with them, but not sure if they will let you if you don't already have an account.

you don't need a prescription for buscopan, I've bought it loads of times Thanks that's what I was hoping to hear. it's for my very disorganised DD who has left it too late to renew her prescription before she flies out!!

Hi, according to my insurance company my dad is covered to drive my car whilst here on holiday with his UK licence but they tell me I have to check with police as they say it might be a problem getting the police report if he is in an accident and he doesn;t have a UAE license - does anybody understand this or know if this is the case? or know how I can find out ... It is a very grey area as some insurers will tell you it is ok, others will say if he is in a crash they wont pay out. I don't think anyone will give you a definite answer which is frustrating My insurers RSA said no, yet AXA said yes!! I even had two different answers from the same company!! If my DD wants to drive out here I've told her to hire a car, much safer from this point of view.

I think the Salik is automatically stopped when a car is transferred to a new owner. So if you take the tag off the window this should be sufficient. A friend was selling their car and transferred it to me as they had to leave before the buyer had the cash. We didn't think about the salik so when we went to the RTA to sign the papers there was a Salik charge outstanding as the tag was cancelled on the first transfer ..... I hope that makes sense. Thank you so much. I am hoping it is as easy as just taking the tag off the windscreen. All you have to do is remove the tag, call them (800 SALIK) and give them your account and tag number and it will be deactivated within 2-3 days. So it will just deactivate that tag and not the account as we have anothe car on the same account?

If we sell our second car, will it be sufficient to take the Salik tag off the windscreen and destroy it? Both cars have alwasy been in DH name and so we only have one Salik account. Thanks

Lemon Grass oil will also keep them off. If your furniture is wooden, just mix a bit of lemon grass oil or even a bit of detol in the furniture oil - that will keep all insects, cats etc off the furniture My cats like to eat lemongrass -= i have a plant in the garden just for them to munch :) I was going to say the same. I have a couple of plants in the garden too as it stops them eating the other grasses :)

If they are getting a personal loan to purchase the car, there is no need for the person selling to have anything to do with it. We've just applied for one for the same reason and the bank didn't even ask why we wanted the cash!!

One of our couches is coming up to 4 years old and it's still great. A newer one is a year old now and it's also good. Just replaced the dining room furniture and that's been excellent. I sometimes think it depends on the type you go for. And saying that both sets of bedroom furniture came from here and it's still going strong. <em>edited by Geordie expat on 05/02/2015</em>

It's a very personal choice but I prefer Home Centre. They've usually got a good selection and the delivery and the after service has always been good.

I'm new to these boards and haven't even moved to Dubai yet. Actually we are in the planning and research page so I've been reading everything I can get my eyes on at the moment. This thread is a foregin concept to me. My BF/Future Husband and I never plan on having kids. It's just me Him and the dog. So I'm wondering if a Maid is even necessary? Does anyone on here not have a maid at all? Just curious. Thanks for any replies! Me, DH, two dogs and three cats and no maid. We have a cleaner comes in twice a week, 4 hours one day and 2 hours another. She goes right through hoovers, mops, does the bathroom, dusts and does a little ironing if I have any and then I just do the rest as I need to, so only slightly less than I did back in the UK

I've been to a few concerts at the Media City Amphitheatre and yes it's all standing, but I have never ever been unable to move around due to the bodies 'packed' against me. Mind we are always happy being stood at a distance from the stage. To be honest if you really wanted to and weren't that bothered about being near the front, there would probably be nothing wrong in you bringing a couple of collapsible chairs in with you.

We've been told that if your property is sold within the 12 months notice period, you as tenants have first option to rent from your new LL. Always worth an ask, unless he definitely wants to live in it himself.

Is it wrong? Yes Is it disgusting? Probably But does it warrant a full news article with quotes solicited from Doctors, Psychologists, Shop Assistants giving grandiose statements about how the child will be damaged, and how they cannot believe it happened and so on? Do we see similar outrage when kids stick their heads out of sunroofs or dangle outside car windows? Exactly, and how is it digusting...last i checked everyone does it at some point! I agree. How is it disgusting?

Sorry but I find the person who took the photo to be so much more disturbing. As a mother and grandmother, yes accidents do happen, and much rather have a potty with you than have a very upset and wet child. I know this it a totally different society to the UK, but I do know of a number of people who carried their childs potty with them when they were potty training. As some of you have said young children often can't tell you in advance when they want to 'go' and at least this way there are no accidents on the floor which in my mind could be even more uspetting.

Anybody else have anything to add to this thread? I'm concerned with buying something at an affordable price, but then having it look and feel like junk in a year. Any other recommendations? If you can wait till I get home this evening I will check the make of ours. Bought from Ace a couple of years ago and still going strong. Don't know if this will be of any help but it's how I set mine out. Start with either a profile or an objective, stating clearly what you want to do, then selected achievements from your previous roles. This way makes it easier, so all you have to do is tweak them around for each application

Dr Nojoomi at Meadows Mediclinic is an Ortho surgeon who specialises in shoulders. He repaired my rotator cuff last year along with other issues and I'm now having physiotherapy at the same clinic. I have similar problems which come from me having bad posture for years. The shoulder op was a great success and the physiotherapy for that is now also helping to strengthen all the muscles I have let go to waste over the years. Where in the world is their a regulatroy body that comes and inspects properties? I don't know, but in the UK you have to jump through quite a few hoops to rent a property As a landlord in the UK, I have always paid for any and all maintenance and repairs and replacement of white goods etc, as necessary, unless the damage was actually caused by a tenant's actions and not normal wear and tear. You can't compare the rental market here with the one in the UK, either as a tenant or a landlord. No, but Izzy was talking about regulatory bodies and inspections. We've always had to have everything serviced regularly and reports to prove it's been done and is being done.
