Fab thanks. This will make up for my Gary Barlow disaster :( Details? The TNET thread died & I need a giggle... ;) I bought tickets for me and Mr GE and it wasn't until we were about to go to the airport on our hols that I realised we wouldnt be back in time. I had convinced myself that we were flying back on the Thursday. We also had to make arrangements to pick the cats up a day later. So nothing that funny, but for me it was a disaster :(

He is sending them back to her country while he remains here; hopefully he is doing it for her good and not to please my husband and keep his job. Meanwhile we have searched the house top to bottom for my second sons Quran, which he has been memorising from for four years. His sheikh has written notes on it for four years, ie, it contains four years work. We all know where exactly it was before the lipstick attack happened, then the highlighter attack on books and furniture; sadly it was open on the coffee table. We have all done a time-investigation and we all know where it was, at what time, and when it went missing, which is when the mother came back and noticed her sons lipstick artwork on my walls and books. My sons Quran went missing at that time. It is not in this house no, nowhere. It is either in the bin or has been taken. Both are terrible things, the second amounting to theft. I feel more sad about that than anything, for any sacred text whether it be hindu scripture or a bible. We cant prove it, if I confront it may just be denied so what is the point. But I am really sad my sons four years of work on his Quran are now lost. Anyhow another day, all lessons must be learned!! thanks for everyones help. I'm sorry, but if it was something as personal and precious as that and it belonged to my family, I would be making sure that they showed you their luggage before they left.

A friend has a facebook page that I have previously "liked". For some reason now it is saying that I have blocked the page, which I certainly haven't done. Does anyone have any idea how I can unblock this please? If you go into your privacy settings there's a list of things down the left including things you've blocked Thanks. I assume I'll have to do that on my lapop and not my iPhone? oh I don't know Iphones but I think the options are quite limited on phones..don't know if you can get into settings... Just had a quick look and yes, VERY limited options. Our LL is a big property owner here and dear knows what else. They still have to abide by the laws in place to hep tennants. Just go to RERA with your cheques and all the evidence you have and say you want to pay your years rent and get a new contract.

Spa package / couples massage We had a fab couples Hammam at Zabeel Saray, and then had the small spa area all to ourselves. Went and had lunch at their restaurant by the beach and spent the rest of thre day there :)

Real estate agency informed us of rent increase only 10 days prior to expiry of contract. We refused to pay the increase and offered to renew on same rent, however manager insisted on 10% increase. Since that last communication, we have not heard anything from them. Its already 20 days after expiry, I was wondering if there will be any issue for us if we are not pursuing it to Rent committee??? I didn't want to intimate the case, because I don't want to pay all these expenses and go through hassle. Just as I read in some threads here, I was waiting for real estate to intimate case, in case they don't agree to renew. What should I do? Wait for them? Or is it must for us to initiate the case? Btw, we have all communication with manager on the same, if we need to prove that we didn't cause the delay. Go down to said agency with all your cheques written out. Print out a copy of the law pertaining to the 90 day change role and demand your contract. Failing that take cheques and last contract to the rent committee and they should issue you a with a new one. Has your previous contract been registered with Ejari? Thank you SL. Yes our previous contract is registered with EJARI. I think your idea will work, I will go to agency tomorrow. Thanks. [b'>By the way, what happens if they refuse to take cheque from RERA[/b'>? That's their problem, not yours. You're covered as you have paid and got a contract.

Just to add a different element to this thread, if any of you use the blue airmiles card where you collect points each time you shop in various shops, Spinneys etc, are you aware that you can use the points earned directly in Sharaf DG where they have a selection of juicers etc. I got the Philips one last Christmas paid for directly by airmiles points, bargain! I also got 1400 dhs off my new laptop!! Sorry for hijacking your thread but sometimes we forget how many points are on these cards! True. I once got a massive discount on flights. You need looots of points though but still better than nothing! We've had two free flights to Cyprus each in the last two years :)

GE, I went to Greece once and the mozzies were so bad, people were lining up down the street at the docs for injections. Mozzies can carry some pretty nasty things too. Eeeeeewwwwwww. I don't know how DH does it, but if we're indoors he can hear them, that's probably why he gets away with it. And thanks but you've now made me itchy ;)

First of all - STOP PANICKING! I pretty much guarantee you it is NOT a bat bite. They only types of bats you find in the UAE (all 3 or 4 species of them) are all insect eaters, apart from one fruit bat. They have NO interest in biting people or sucking blood and they certainly would not be crawling about on the floor. I got bitten by mozzies out on a run the other night and you should see the size of the bites - [b'>they're massive[/b'>, because I have a bad reaction to insect bites and have to take antihistamines for them. The same is probably for your son, he's just had a bad reaction to one bite. There is no prevalence for rabies in the UAE. There was one death in 2009 and that was the first in a decade. I don't have any reaction to mozzie bites, but it is so easy to make them go huge and scabby, just by scratching. He's too young to be able to resist scratching - so am I ;) edited by Geordie expat on 28/10/2014 You're lucky! They last for days on my legs. I'll be lucky if you can't still see them after a week - 10 days. Truly horrid. Hate to admit it, but I once had to go to the doc as I managed to get one infected. What you're describing sounds very much like a Mossi bite and they do have a habit of getting you round the ankles. I may be wrong, but I very much doubt a bat would crawl up his leg.

Just me and DH. All our kids are grown up and back in the UK. Dubai is a means to an end for us at our age ;) but we quite like it. We just live the same style of life we had back home, only with better weather :) <em>edited by Geordie expat on 28/10/2014</em>

Izzy why don't you report this person, you never know when you'll find the [b'>horses head under your pillow.[/b'> In all my years of forum-ing, I've only been personally attacked once and that was right here on EW! Ironic considering their stance. However that one incident was really quite threatening and it would be awful going through that for years. No room - usually have to share my pillow with a Mau ;) Only one :) The other mau (aka fat cat) usually likes to sleep across my legs....... :) :) :)
