I missed all this but how awful... Izzy why don't you report this person, you never know when you'll find the [b'>horses head under your pillow.[/b'> In all my years of forum-ing, I've only been personally attacked once and that was right here on EW! Ironic considering their stance. However that one incident was really quite threatening and it would be awful going through that for years. No room - usually have to share my pillow with a Mau ;) Only one :)

I tend to just go to the same Paris Gallery and the girls there all know me now. They were told the first time I went in that I knew what I was looking for and would only ask if I couldn't find it / needed something else and they're great about it. Shopping in peace :)

Belkin is a good make of router and very reasonable. All I will say is make sure it is strong enough if you want to use it in more than one room. We have two routers in our villa, one for upstairs and one for down.

We did the same as SarahLou, bought the router and just followed the instructions. As far as I am aware DU don't actually support WiFi, or they didn't a year or so ago. It's all up to you to sort it.

I've done that at a brunch before (Beachcombers at JBH). It's so easy to drink far too much with an all-in package! Thought that was the whole point of brunch, lol... I was drinking coffee at Brunch on Friday. My I have changed! That's something to do with age ;) But seriously, I much prefer to go and enjoy the food rather than have far too much to drink and then lose the rest of the weekend.

You asked for some opinions, so here goes. I hope that it collapses. It was never a good idea... Why do you say that? In very simple terms, because I know nothing about economics, Europe was much better for me when each country had their own currency. I used to live in France and my money went a long way when changing from dollar to franc. I also know many Germans who were much happier spending marks. They felt that things were cheaper in mark. I lived in Germany when they had marks it was so cheap and our wages went a long way I went back for a visit in 2009 and the Euro had pushed all costs up. I couldn't get over how expensive it was. I can remember family living in Holland saying that prices had gone up dramatically overnight when it changed.

Not as bad as I expected, although I think a number of people are off today. My gripe was the fact that more people will be using the Al Khail and then onto Financial Centre Road and the part where you sweep round to the left from Al Khail, now has even more roadworks and one less lane. Why, at a time when they know that there will be more traffic using this route. :( My husband was chatting to someone at the RTA and he said their temporary/diversion roads were supposed to have the same number of lanes as the original... This appears to just be a lane closure, or two, while they do something ?????

I would just go for it. When I was looking a lot of the vacancies stated certain ages, or some even told me face to face, or over the phone, that I was too old and they were looking for someone younger. Didn't matter that the role was also asking for experience!!

The only one I can answer is No.1. You can be given your notice at any time in the contract, although most LL do wait until contract renewal time.

Is it for children? Carrefour have a section for Halloween every year & you find children's costumes at the centre point in the toys section. Yes there are childrens ones. I saw a really cute pirate one but it wasn't in my size ha They have hats, masks, fake cobwebs, flashing pumpkins and other bits and bobs across 3 lots of shelves just as you walk in Mr GE wanted to buy a sparkly spider with flashing eyes from Choitrams last night !!!!!

@Pollydxb, the public transport here takes you all over Dubai But it's often inconvenient, and much slower than driving yourself. DH tried using public transport to get to work, and the journey that normally takes him 15 minutes by car ended up taking over an hour by a mixture of bus, metro and walking - and of course, waiting for buses and walking are both out during the summer, at least if DH doesn't want to arrive at work needing a shower and a complete change of clothes. The metro is great if you live right next to a metro station *and* your destination is very close to one as well. But for most people, those criteria don't apply. I agree Madge_Gustard. DH tried it a couple of times with me dropping him off at Nakheel metro and then going into Emirates Towers. It made a long day so much longer and more stressful than a 20/30 minute car journey. PS SZR was almost a dream to drive down this morning, I guess a lot of people have taken the day off !

Even if they were bats, it's highly unlikely they would swoop that low. They have an amazing sense not to bump into anything. We've just spent two weeks on holiday abroad and every night were surrounded by them, all well above us.

The Ivy is a great fun experience. We were there on Friday and have booked to go again in two weeks time. The food is good but to be honest the atmosphere and staff are what really makes it. The jazz band is fun and creates are very good vibe. On our visit it was a completely mixed age group and balance of groups of friends , couples and extended families. No children though. It just seemed as though everyone was having fun but there was no excess . The staff were the right balance of relaxed and attentive. Sounds like our sort of brunch then. No kids :) I believe they do happy hour from 5-8 also which is supposed to be good Are you trying to insinuate something ;)

So the Al Khaill will now be a worse nightmare than usual for the next few months :( :( :( I'm more worried about the Financial Centre road, 1000 X more traffic flying over the bridge and off SZR - CRANAGE - I reckon I might go to CityWalk before work to wait for the traffic to die down!! I didn't want to think about that, as coming onto there from the Al Khail is horrendous at certain times. People flying up behind you and not realising that they are approaching traffic at a standstill just before you actually swing left, scares the life out of me :(

as someone who has worked in the recruitment field before and has many friends still working in the recruitment field I completely disagree with what your saying. yes the job search is frustrating but its not because the recruitment firms incompetence it is because they don't have a job for you. they are given jobs to fill by their clients and if your CV is not matching the bill why on earth would they waste their time on you? they work long hours with stressful sales targets so of course they are not going to help you because of the goodness of their heart. Stick to applying to relevant jobs and keep looking online and networking. I agree. I used to keep in touch with an email or phone call perhaps once every two weeks, but they were great at letting me know when there was something I was suitable for. I spent the rest of my time networking and using the online sites such as Bayt.com

Yes, I had difficulty finding a job although being on my husband's visa made things a little easier as I could do temp work while I was looking. The two agencies I used were really good, and I didn't have to keep chasing them up all the time :) Apart from the obvious websites, I found LinkedIn was a very good place to keep looking. <em>edited by Geordie expat on 22/10/2014</em>

I'd read that he wasn't appealing the sentence Not the actual sentence but how he serves it. I don't think they would dare change that. It may be that he spends his 10 months or whatever in the prison hospital, but I very much dout he'll get house arrest immediately. Let's wait and see.....after things have quieted down in a few months, hope I am wrong...... Yes, lets hope that few months lasts for around 10 !
