Izzy I agree with you How many people actually gain their degree and then don't go on to use it immediately. OK yes I know that there will be some, but those who are really serious will always do something in that role and keep on top of things. In all honesty I would rather have someone with an 'older' degree and experience.

I find the idea that a degree is no longer current quite ridiculous. So for example, as a pharmacist with over 20 years experience I have less knowledge than a person that graduated 5 years ago because they have social media??? Apparently so,,,,,, Twitter will get you better ;) So that's where Mr GE is going wrong with his "ancient" degree. He's not on twitter ;)

It works ok in Dubai. Have you also got the option of Careem in Qatar, which I find is a better service.

I had my moulds made in the UK, as I first had it done there. I now just buy the whitener from my dentist out and carry on doing it a home. If you want to do it properly, you really should have the moulds made to fit by a dentist. Try mine, Dr Neil Mitchel at Nicholas & Asp, Al Manzil Mall.

In over two years I have only ever been to one place for Brunch and I would never go anywhere else. It's slightly out of the centre of Dubai, fairly small and the food and wine pairings are amazing. PS we're both in our 50s !! <em>edited by Geordie expat on 24/09/2014</em>

No, that's correct. it came into force on 21st September. All deposits have doubled and the admin fee is AED110. Apparently the application forms have also changed, so make sure you get the new one that asks for your residency visa number and not your passport number.

Trouble is the bank are saying go to the police as it is the police whi have been paid by the card. I guess all they can do is go to them with their telephone notifications and take it from there.

Yes they've used it to pay the police through the Egov. It was three large sums, the last of which blew the credit limit. I just have a feeling someone on here had a similar problem with their card a few months ago. It seems weird having to file a police report against the police!!

I know that this was mentioned some time back, but a friend has asked me to try and find out what they can do regarding the fraudulent use of their Credit Card. It has been used to pay Dubai Police via eGov. I can vaguely remember this happening to someone a while ago, but can't find what the outcome was. This friends card is now blocked as they have used it up to and over the limit. They have spoken to the bank and now have to file a police complaint. Is there anything else they can do to rectify this problem and get their money back asap? Thanks

And now you've made me google the reason ;) There is no specific answer and most people just use the one with more holes for the seasoning they prefer. I have always used one for salt and multiple for pepper, although I much prefer salt !!!!

Sorry I can't help you out here but when my DD was just turned two she had this done in the UK and we never looked back. It's not actually that much of an invasive procedure and I would imagine it has improved over the last 20+ years. <em>edited by Geordie expat on 22/09/2014</em>

Alternatively, most of the gated communities have FB pages or portals - see if there are any teenagers looking for babysitting jobs. I agree with Izzy. It may take a while, but once you are friends with the neighbours and your children make friends, you may find someone local. We have babysat for our neighbours children.

Thanks both. Kids grown up and won't be working at first. Small possibility of a part-time job and don't know where it would be located (though it may be near the airport so that would be quite handy). Hadn't heard of Al Manzil Mall - that would be great for day to day. I don't want to jump in the car for everything - I'm one of those crazy ladies with trolley bags! - so would prefer to walk when the weather allows. It's next to the Al Manzil Hotel. If we didn't have our menagerie. I would live there in a heartbeat
