The Ritz still do the afternoon tea as does Rhodes Mezzanine in Grosvenor House. [b'>Atmosphere in Burj Khalifa [/b'>do a high tea and it is supposed to be very good Thanks, that was where I meant, not At the Top. We went there for our anniversary this year and it was fab. Enough to eat and more if you want it, tea again as much or as little as you want and champagne if you want it. Also there was no being hassled out, we were allowed to sit as long as we wanted. One thing I will say though, it is first come, first served for a window seat. edited by Geordie expat on 08/09/2014

Trouble is, the person renting it to you, knows you haven't a leg to stand on, common decency or not.

I got the impression she's also paying monthly and so is not entitled to her deposit back. Anyway deposit aside, I still think that this is illegal.

Very doubtful, as you yourself said subletting is not allowed. You have no legal recourse and I would just chalk it up to experience.

Shud I carry winter clothes? And even if it rains how shud I handle it, I've heard it cud rain for hrs. Shud I go home or just stay indoor. My DD will b too excited abt the rain. We hardly experience it bk home and in Dubai. Are there any of those rain coats I can buy for her as soon as I arrive[/b'>. Wht are the activities we can do together? Any touristic attractions Tht I shud avoid. Bus or underground? And is the underground safe? how safe is London? When do stores close and open in London? Any shopping tips? Wht r the popular malls there? How abt eating out? child friendly? Any restaurants or cafés Tht r quite popular there? When do supermarkets and pharmacies close? Is there home delivery? Can I stay out late with my D or is it not safe? Will the underground b working or bus? Or will I have to take a taxi? I heard they r too exp I usually try to look up everything online but I do prefer ppls advise. Thank u :) Yes it may well rain, but it could also be lovely. If it rains I wouldn't let that stop you. You'll get wet, you'll dry. I'm sure there will be loads of macs and brollies available in the shops.

I lived in JVT and now in JVC and to be honest I haven't really found much difference. We didn't want to move away from JVT originally but now we are there we like it. Personally, I find it much quieter in JVC - as we don't have dogs barking each night, noise from the nocturnal people in the parks, the smell of the sewerage and I am so pleased to be away from the flying bugs in JVT. It does look nicer in JVT when you are outside your house and there are more play areas if you have kids. We must be so lucky where we are in JVT. Only the very occasional dog at night, and then that's not all night, we're far enough away from the parks for them not to bother us, same goes for the sewerage smell and so far only one flying bug. It's definitely worth a drive round to see what area you like and then ask more questions.

All I can suggest is my dentist, who took over where my UK dentist left off. I already had the trays and knew which whitener I needed and he supplied a like for like product out here. He's going to start my DH off from scratch with his, making the trays and then we can just use them at home. He's Dr Neil Mitchell at Nicholas & Asp, Al Manzil branch.

It seems that I don't even know what I am trying to do. I just want to be able to locate the Ipads if they get lost or stolen.... It sounds as if you've got it sussed. All you need to do is check them in another location away from home.

Sorry you've lost me here. If you need it for your children's iPads for school and it's recognising that it's in front of you. Surely you'll need to test it out away from the home and see if it picks up the location.

All the App is doing is locating the Ipad that is in front of me. Have you downloaded it onto another device to check your iPad. Is you've done that then you'll need to put the iPad somewhere else and check it again. Can you not go and put it in the car or something? Thank you, GE, but I don't see how that would make a difference. The tracker is showing the Ipad at my address but not specifically where in my home... I have never managed to get a specific location in the house, but I would have thought it's mainly for use if it gets stolen or you leave it somewhere

Yes JVT has less amenities. We only have two shops at the moment, parks and tennis courts. JVT will never have pools as far as I am aware, but it is quieter. The only building going on now is on some of the blocks which were due to be done around the edges. We are also supposed to be getting our own Mall in 2017!!

Thank you very much for your reply. I don't know the difference between Triangle and Circle, but I guess the Circle is better than the Triangle? I'll try to visit this area when I arrive in 2 weeks… Thanks again. The Circle is still one huge building site, so you do need to have a good look round

Eating at 9pm is not a problem! Frankly I don't see how people can sleep well without eating pretty close to bedtime. As long as you don't go over your calorie limit, it doesn't matter, I promise. Thanks. I know who to blame when it doesn't work ;)

We have a villa in JVT and have no grass. We do have patio out the back and gravel for the rest, with plenty of pots around so it is still lovely and green. DEWA max in summer is AED1,400. Oh and one palm tree !! edited by Geordie expat on 07/09/2014

Which is why I didn't bother looking and just posted the info ;) I have never yet found a special offer from Emirates, even when not flying to the UK :( Me neither 6600 for the Summer was just far too much Sayng that, we've had two free flights each to Cyprus using our UAE Airmiles :) I used to use EK a lot but they halved their airmiles which meant trying to increase them was impossible. I was silver and almost gold but now blue :-( Funnily enough when we've booked these 'free' flights, we've clicked for Emirates airmiles as well, so I feel I'm getting something for free and I may be able upgrade at some point :)

We're the same. We can't justify the extra cost when it's so much cheaper to go via Schipol. Saying that, for us it's cheaper to meet the kids somewhere like Northern Cyprus :)

I know it's criminal and it's on top of the insurance premium ... But DH got job in July and we had to leave mid August, we didn't have time to shop around and hoping we would get a tenant within 45 days of us leaving UK. Who do you use then ? Might be worth contacting your company when ours is due for renewal. Thanks The company is called Intasure, see my link further down this thread. I only had about three weeks to sort it out and didn't have time to even think about getting the house ready for a tennant so we've just left it empty.
