The company we have our UK house insured through is Intasure http://www.intasure.com/ We had to use two separate companies to bring our guys out here, but as I said unfortunately the company we used has ceased trading. Perhaps it's worth asking your local vet, or even just googling for someone

Thanks very much Geordie expat! Never used S&S before but have an account. How do they charge you for delivery? They charge by weight. You can calculate it on the website

I don't think it's that at all. It's a case of 'I'm in such a hurry and my time is sooooo important as long as I'm in roughly the car parking spaces it'll do' A lot of cars I see look as if they've just been abandoned, never mind parked.

Yes. Potted dog was potted meat. When I was first at school there was no such thing as a packed lunch it was all school dinners and they were just as you can imagine :( edited by Geordie expat on 27/08/2014

Tell me about it !!! Even if I park miles away from the Mall entrance, you can guarantee when I come out there are always two huge 4x4's either side of me. I haven't had to climb in via the back yet, but there's always a first ;) Try getting over the gear stick in a maxi dress with 10 car washers staring lol Picture in my head I didn't really want ;) but I bet the car washers enjoyed it!

I would go further to say, that there is no way a nine year old girl should have access to any type of gun, under supervision, or not. Surely it just gives them the totally wrong impression. And yes I know that if they want them in later life they'll get hold of one, but why encourage it?

Ladies, I don't want to upset anyone here and I do feel for the man's family but........he was a veteran. Why would someone who has probably seen this type of weapon fired in anger agree to teach a young child how to use one? edited by Geordie expat on 27/08/2014

Beebers, irrelevant as to your views of guns - no child should have an autmotic weapon in their hands.... No one apart from trained personnel should have an automatic weapon in their hands and even then, its debatable. I was thinking of adding that, as I do sometimes wonder!

I hate it when that happens. You get to your car and usually have to wait until the person gets back to their car so you can move. [b'>Or sometimes at the supermarket, you come out with a trolley full of bags, and someone sees you and follows you to your parking space with a view to taking over the space when you leave. [/b'> You then start loading your car, and in their mind you are not moving fast enough, so they start honking at you to hurry up! WTH?! If someone does that to me I always put the shopping away, take the trolley back and then go back into the shop!!!! I actually did that last week.... Evil i know But fun and I always do it whether they honk at me or not.

If you know who you want to use, contact the airline direct. Majority are very helpful and will give you all the information you need. Just be aware you will need to have time to do all the running around beforehand and then be able to drop your dog off yourself.

Hi katedansledesert! Congratulations on coming to dubai! We used to live in JVT (jumeirah village triangle), it is close to your DH's work and the villas have a HUGE L-shaped garden for your dog. The only problem is that most gardens are not landscaped by the landlords, so you will have to invest some money to put up a good garden. We moved to RAK, but just to give you an idea of prices (2 years ago, so might not be accurate anymore ), we put interlocks at the back of the garden (leading out the living room and dining room doors all the way down to the back wall of the garden), paying 4000 DHS, and we were quoted 8000 DHS to do the garden to the side of the house (grass, palm tree, shrubs, plants) and some gravel at the front of the house. Basically, if you're willing to invest a big chunk of money for what might be only one year (in case you're renting), your dog will be very happy in JVT, there are loads of dogs around (in our block, every villa -bar one- had at least one dog) and the walks are lovely. HTH We are still in JVT and instead of having all the side of the garden landscaped, we had it cleared and left as sand. Both dogs love this and we don't have to problem of some of our neightbours, where the dogs are ruining a lovely lawn. We have had the back of the villa paved and surrounded by gravel with a palm tree and the rest of the plants in pots. Easier and cheaper to maintain.

And of course drivers flying down SZR going bumper to bumper with cars at 200kph aren't dangerous or a threat to other road users at all! nor the countless drivers that are in the middle lane going so slow they may as well be going backwards! Or the thousands of drivers chatting away on their mobile or having their heads down texting away! But lets penalise all those dangerous women applying lipstick at a red light for all of what 3 seconds! pls get a grip, 12 points for that but 4 points while on your mobile!! If you read if properly, it says applying make up while driving. Only mentions mobiles and red lights

My eldest DD was nearly two and a half when the second arrived and yes they bought each other , presents. When I asked her to help it was things like bringing me a clean nappy or a clean babygro. I didn't change the eldest DDs routine at all. She still went to play groups and on play dates, all I did was bundle the younger one up and took her with us and that happened almost as soon as I was home from hospital. edited by Geordie expat on 25/08/2014

If it's anything like the North, we didn't even have to go over once we'd decided where and what we wanted. The solicitor was brilliiant and as for the estate agents, they are still helping us out, by holding our keys and arranging transfers etc for our guests. Dubai agents could learn a lot from them ;) As Livelytrish said, it's all about the title deeds, make sure they are kosher straight away.

what do you mean - becuae of who he is - you mean british or black? The British thing and the fact he won the championship so quickly. You'll find the real British supporters prefer Jenson. edited by Geordie expat on 25/08/2014

Yes the Ikea (in Nicosia) is quite large, has everything you need. Also there are quite a few furniture shops in Paphos including some selling good second hand furniture. There is also a Paphos based forum (Cyprusliving) which is full of useful info, take a look. We even go across to the Ikea in the south to shop :) Thanks Livelytrish for answering these questions. I had a touch of senile dementia and could not think of your user name.

Maybe the FIA should do a poll and see if LH did deserve it.... If it was amongst the drivers I have a feeling NR would win, but as for the public, LH as he has a legion of British fans who think he can do no wrong.
