Unfortunately yes as they are two totally separate countries. We love our place and as you say it's close enough to even fly out for a long weekend. And the weather is fab

Where abouts North or South? We've just bought in the North and it was very easy. I can also recommend a very good agency in the North too :) I believe there is someone on here who lives in the South now and I'm sure she can help with that, if that's where you are thinking about. edited by Geordie expat on 25/08/2014

[b'>I still want to see that finger in the air[/b'>..... LH needs b i t c h slapping for sure..... Shall we see who manages to do it in AD? will buy you a coffee if you manage it :D Sorry, no, I'm loving it that he's now seeing what it feels like to be on the back foot. Although give him his due he has taken it remarkably well in public. I'm now putting my money on DR as an outsider to win the championship.

Oh yes and I did read what NL said. Looking at the situation overall, there are 200 points left till the end of the season, what is LH problem? If he was the driver he reckons he is this should just give him more incentive to try and push for the rest of the season. Personally I would love to see DR come through and win :)

Due to a changing diet, I have started dividing and weighing out portions of raw meat (chicken, fish, steak, mince, etc) before cooking/freezing, and I've noticed that Spinneys charge for the packaging, i.e. the price tag says 300gm but I'm actually only getting 280gm product and 20gm packaging. Surely this isn't right? I mean, last night I bought four packets of steak for the family at 90dhs a kilo, so have ended up paying around 8dhs for the packets alone. Feeling slightly ripped off ... Do you know I have often thought that - but then I don't think polystyrene and plastic wrap will really weigh that much! Polly, the deep black plastic trays they sell the meat in weigh 20gm a piece, so it all adds up. Geordie, wherever I've purchased around the world they have ALWAYS zeroed the scales after placing paper/tray/tub whatever on them before adding the product. And buying it prepackaged should make this even simpler as they're cutting and measuring in bulk, certainly not cleaning the scales between each piece of meat. Clearly your idea of not much difference varies somewhat from mine - adding an extra 8dhs+ per meal adds up over a week and we don't all have vast amounts of disposable income to throw away ... I certainly don't have any disposable income to throw away. And yes most of the places I buy my meet from do zero the scales before they weigh, which is one of the reasons I don't buy pre packed. The cleanliness is another bonus.

That was the first thing that came over the radio "he's hit me, Nico's hit me". I do think though that now LH will have problems with any team mate if they don't treat him the way he expects. Let's see if the FIA decide to open a case now that there is more info in the public domain. I thought the teams had to petition them? Perhaps not in this situation http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/formula1/28922696

Wherever we've bought fresh meat, it's always been weighed on the plastic tray or on the paper it's wrapped in. Personally I wouldn't expect anything else as I don't expect they clean the scales ever time they use them and it certainly doesn't make that much difference.

You've got to remember though, the team have always said that there are no team orders and their drivers can race!!!!! Also you won't have seen the welcoming committee he had when he was eventually allowed to retire. I think they gave into him just so he didn't get to the press without someone having a word with him first. I know a lot of people think he's wonderful, but there has always been something about him I have been unsure about and it's all coming out now

LH is just a winge full stop. As you say he just doesn't like to be on the receiving end. I see it's starting to kick off in the press though, now LH has stated that NR admitted he hit him on purpose

There was a really weird one shown on wtf1.co.uk yesterday from the GP3 race. I wouldn't normally remark on crashes, but did this time purely because of how it happened and because he was fine. edited by Geordie expat on 24/08/2014

No we could do with a really interesting race and with the layout of Spa it would be good. Not the heavy stuff from yesterday though, just enough to make them all cautious.

Sorry to hijack--if you are employed and working on your husband's visa with a NOC, how does the company pay you? I have a friend who is in this situation, been paid cash her first two months, and now her employer has told her to "go open a salary account." I thought that was done by the company when you are on their visa? I was just paid directly into our joint account here. I have only just recently opened my own account myself edited by Geordie expat on 24/08/2014

To answer this in a nutshell. If you have the choice, when you find a position, just go with whatever is the best option for you.

It could also depend on the company. I had no choice, but to switch to the company visa Hi GE! Can u share the reason why u were forced to transfer ur visa? Correct me pls if my understanding is correct that as much as possible, ur soon to be employer will encourage u to have ur husband's visa retained for them to unload the responsibility of giving u these benefits? I am also thinking the same way w/ my husband's employer.. once they'll know that I am working, they will cut my benefits and give the burden to my new employer? Sorry for many questions :( I'm working in DIFC now, so no choice, but to be honest I'm better off on their sponsorship as DH company doesn't cover flights home. A previous company I worked for would only employ me on DH sponsorship though. It's swings and roundabouts really, so if I was you I would be upfront straight away when you find a job and if you've got the choice and can stay under your DH sponsorship I would, unless the new benefits really out weigh the ones you have already. Also as Maroosh says it may be beneficial in the long run if you loose your job. I certainly wouldn't have wanted to start doing visa runs when I was made redundant.

It can also depend on where you live. We often have nightmare problems in JVT but often find that a quick post on one of their social websites, facebook, solves the problem a lot easier than a phone call or visit.

The only ones I ever keep in the fridge are the ones I occasionally treat myself to from Bateel I have a box of them out as well - have been open since Ramadan and are still fine. I just love them straight from the fridge though :)

I've honestly given up with savings accounts. I'm just watching the exchange rate and my meagre savings will be going back to the UK and into Premium Bonds. You never know your luck ;) I was losing so much money with the current exchange rate I have had to change my BSO to the bare minimum until I can see a decent exchange, otherwise I am just losing money! ARGHHH Keep watching. It's heading in the right direction :)

Is there such a thing as a high interest account if you haven't got thousands already? Not that is not without high risk and slightly dodgy. Exactly, even offshore accounts are pretty rubbish, for us mere mortals ;)
