Have you notified the changes of the garden to the landlord? Normally it is a clause in the contract that you aren't aloud to make any changes in the property/garden without the landlords permission. edited by Silvstet on 11/06/2014 Most people do their own gardens if it's a new property and most LL like this fact. True, but if he's looking for a bigger rent check and a reason to evict the tenant the LL can use that against the tenant. Or do what some people do and sell the garden before they leave.

Don't know is this will be of any help, but we had to go to the Turkish Embassy in Dubai to get our POA signed and stamped, and translated, when we bought a property in Northern Cyprus.

stick it in natonal bonds for a few weeks and inshallah will win something :) Did think about that, but there's a penalty if you draw it out within the first three months (I think that was the timing) What I really need is a good local savings account.

Be careful, LL can now say you are in arrears - take cheques and contract down to RERA who will do a new contract for you. Don't worry once Mr GE gets back from Basra we will. Had an email last week saying the new contract would be delivered on Sat, trouble was they didn't say which Sat ;) I know that some of his tennants haven't paid anything since the beginning of this year and are just hanging on to the money.

The main answer is that he has missed the 90 day rule. To make any changes to your rent or contract he must contact you before the 90 days. If he wants you out, he must notify you, through the legal channels and give you 12 months notice stating one of the four reasons why. I believe that if you lodge a case with RERA and pay the 3.5% and win, he has to pay it back. I would let him do it! most back down True. Oh and by the way we still haven't got a new contract yet. We're living rent free at the mo :)

awwww - baby lizards are cute. Hopefully he still had all legs and tail attached. I am scared that one morning, the kitten is going to bring me a rat. He has already tried to hide a semi dead bird under the kitchen cabinets. Yes luckily he only wanted to play with it and I managed to get it back outside in one piece. We have that problem with guess who? I've lost count of the number of birds he has brought me.

You're lucky it's not a Bengal. He will have a go anything left on a surface. I had a major panic the other week when I found the ac remote on the floor and no sign of the batteries, thought one of the dogs must have swallowed them, but no, Bruno was playing with them in the corner.

Even to get friends picked up and taken home last week we used Careem. At least they could leave when they wanted and not when the taxi decided to turn up. Yes it's a little more expensive, but not by that much.

And you have just put the most rolting picture in my mind of what the missing tootrush could have been used for. Sorry ladies. get those hard to reach places ... (sorry) I have heard that some maids do this as a form of retribution :0 am pretty sure my cats use it when i am out anyway.... That's why our cleaner can't try this form of retribution. I can highly recommend Julian. I know Mr GE is ancient!!!, but it's one of the best haircuts he's ever had since he started going there. Does he have a purple rinse too? Or does he go for the bright red hue of henna? Oi......

My son wants a good hair cut that is 'cool'! Lol! Where can I get a hairdresser that can cut more difficult cuts than the regular boys hair cuts around town? They all seem to go blank if you want something different than the regular. Go and see Julian on Beach Road http://julianhairdressingdubai.com/ I can highly recommend Julian. And our Bengal has his own small shower :) he puts himself in it or you put him in it? Last time i tried to wash a cat, i ended up in hospital He puts himself in and I turn the tap on. Bengals love water

While we are on the subject, what is it with the design of bidets? On a toilet, you have a good bum sized hole (give or take) with a comfy seat. On a bidet you need to perch on the cold, bare rim of a huge bowl, whilst you try to direct the water towards where you need it. Left to its own devices, the water trickles down the small of my back, which is generally quite clean already. I did face the wrong way on squat toilets for years, so it is quite possible that I have got this wrong too. Adjust the water pressure so it sprays where it is needed ;), never had an issue with it spraying my back !! sounds like you sat too far forward....... But mine has a downward pointing tap right at the back of the bowl. Am I supposed to put the plug in, fill it up then dip my tail feathers? Actually the bidet over here isn't like the one pictured. The ones in my place just have a tap that shoots out water from the back. Doesn't matter if you're paying NI or not, you're classed as non-resident my colleagues Wife still pays NI and when she gave birth in the UK 2 years ago ( Has lived here for 10) she disclosed this and they allowed to her to deliver for free They rarely check and if you have a NI number and a UK address then I doubt they can enforce however they may ask for information from your DR which is difficult to provide if you don't live in the UK. Interesting, as even our GP said that although technically he was keeping us on 'his books', as we'd be living out of the country we couldn't use the NHS, unless it was emergency and even then they may charge us. <em>edited by Geordie expat on 10/06/2014</em>

How about Bidets? Better or worse, can found in uk bathrooms and you get to regulate the temperature of the water and the pressure haha! And a lot less messy :)

We went to Atmosphere for afternoon tea for our second wedding anniversary. DH and I have always been of the opinion, why wait for a special occasion to buy each other something. He wanted a Bremont watch so just bought it when there was an offer on. I know it sounds sad, but we do the same for Chirstmas and Birthdays.

Toilet paper would not get rid of any nasty odours would it. Why are there so many wet wipes on the market these days??? Go to the UK. Go to the USA. Go to most countries in Europe. Go to Australia. Go to any number of other countries around the world. You will be surrounded by people who only use toilet paper because that's the cultural norm. Do all those people in all those countries constantly stink because they only use paper? At least half the planet uses [i'>only[/i'> toilet paper. It's really nothing unusual. It's interesting that in the UK right now, [b'>companies like Andrex are starting to advertise wet wipes as something that adults could use instead of normal toilet paper[/b'>. I say "starting", because it really is a new idea in Europe - the cultural norms are that you use wet wipes when changing babies' nappies, but children and adults use dry paper. edited by Madge_Gustard on 09/06/2014 And then wait for the problems when they are all flushed down the loo and blockages start to happen.

Two words NO WAY. He needs to let you see and sign the new contract before you even think of giving him any cheques. That's assuming you agree to the contract and rental amount. Our LL will not get his cheques until we agree on the contract and it is signed by both parties. When we get our copy then he gets his cheques. <em>edited by Geordie expat on 09/06/2014</em>

I don't understand why people who don't use them are deemed as gross I have survived for 42 years without one so it all cannot be bad It's not about using the hose it's about using some means of water to clean ones self. Toilet paper would not get rid of any nasty odours would it. Why are there so many wet wipes on the market these days??? ewww, and then when you step in the water, you get poop on your shoes! frankly, I don't think I stink and use wet wipes only for my children ... perhaps that's why there are so many on the market? Because there are lots of children? Never been told I stink of poop and not many people stick their head by my bottom either ha You've all just reminded me of a scene in Auf Wiedersehen Pet, where Moxy comes out of the toilet, goes back in and then goes and asks the lads why the toilet doesn't smell when he's just used it but does smell when he goes back in seconds later :) <em>edited by Geordie expat on 09/06/2014</em>

Well to have an expat moan, why do they bring things out to sell here and then just take them off the market - like the Fairy Liquid Dish Washing tables and the Waitrose own non-bio liquid tablets for the washing machine! Drives me insane, and you ask the people in the shop - and they look at you like you've gone mad!!! ARGHH If you want the Fairy Dishwash tablets, Park n Shop at DIP sell the american varient Cascade.

I didn't even do that. I just informed everyone that I was reverting back to my maiden name. I think my friend did the same thing, and then eventually changed it officially To be honest I don't know if what I did was correct but the Tax man and NI didn't say anything and neither did the registrar when I remarried.

It will also depend on the type of life style you want out here. Some younger colleagues of DH earn more than 18,000 a month and still struggle to have a few nights out and pay their bills. You'll also need a fair amount of cash for various deposits for things such as DEWA, accommodation, etc.
