Before others jump on you and suggest this. Why don't you look for a puppy out here from one of the rescue centres?

Some airlines may still fly them during certain months still, but I certainly wouldn't want to put one through flying during the summer, or any time really, since that breed has issues breathing anyway.

If you can afford it and get through all the paperwork every time, I wouldn't say you can't.

I think that they are only banned during the summer months for flying.

Toys R us sell a chair that attaches to a regular dining chair and buckles in - maybe your LO would prefer that since it makes it seem like they are sitting at the table with everyone else? My kids used something similar, many moons ago and it was much easier, especially when going out. No need to worry about high chairs

If it's anything like JVT there were a number of underground leaks, which no one knew about until they received astronomical bills - which they had to pay :( Something you can do right now is make sure everything is turned off and then go and watch your meter for a bit. edited by Geordie expat on 04/06/2014

We had similar issues in JVT a couple of years ago. Really weird and high first couple of bills and then it settled down. Two of us and five pets in a two bed stand alone, no grass, just a few plants in pots and this months bill was just over AED1000. Also one AC is on all day at 26 for the pets.

Thank you for this Oopsiedaisy. Sounds as if the Vault may just become the new Atmosphere for some of us. I only hope it doesn't make them start to hike up their prices too :(

Ours just has one of his staff threaten you with the fact that it will be sold to a family member and you have 12 months notice!! Haha In one and out the other DH is at screaming point. He could have had the cheques at the right time if the contracts and contact hadn't been so ridiculous. We're now without a current contract and he's off to Erbil next week. Would have preferred it all sorted before then.

It seems to be happening more to people who've been in the same property for a few years. We're paying exactly what RERA says, but obviously not what new tenants are paying, so all these little things are just to try and get more money out of us.

I think a lot of LL are now using one of the tenancy clauses which says that if a cheque bounces they can charge you an extra 10% to replace it. They are using missmatched sigantures as a way of getting more money! Ours has tried to put an extra two clauses in our new contract, one which says that if we don't have the receipt for the deposit we won't get it back and another that says if we have any sort of problems with a cheque he can charge us 1% of the value of the cheque. Haven't a clue what that means. We also have the standard 10% extra to pay if a cheque "bounces". edited by Geordie expat on 03/06/2014 I wouldn't sign it. Tell him if it bounces ( which it wont) you will send it through the bank as I did. Cheeky so and so Don't worry it's gone back to him - yet again! At least he'd taken the non-renewable clause out this time. We thought he would be sensible this time as we've decreased the number of cheques, but no. If we don't hear anything by the end of the month the cheques are going to RERA and then it's out of our hands.

We use Currency Index in Rickmansworth, UK. The more you transfer and the more often you transfer, the better rate they can give you.

Which is fine if yo can afford it, but so many people here now get *no* help with rent and it's a genuine and stressful problem trying to pay such large lump sums. It's insane that rent isn't paid monthly here. We don't get any help at all with our rent, but have managed to save just enough to pay the first three months. As I said I have seen a number of people stuck with having to find the extra % when the cheques are refused due to a slight difference in the signature etc

We've just changed from six to four at our own request. I've heard so many people recently having cheques returned due to problems with signatures and then having to pay ane extra % we thought it safer.

Probably not, as you'll still get people having to leave early for their own reasons. School, parking etc And I've just read the bit about banning school minibuses. Nightmare, even more cars on the road edited by Geordie expat on 29/05/2014

www.careem.com instead of taxi problems! Totally agree, especially if you have to be somewhere for a certain time.
